I have been taking 20mgs of Norco (hydrocodone/apap) and now have hyd 30. Is that going to be too strong for me? ## The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, constipation, dry mouth, and headache. What specifically have have you been prescribed?

My patient has recently had two (2) toes removed and he has extreme bad pain in his right foot. If you could help him out and get the right pain medication what would you recommend? ## Ideally, only a qualified physician who's examined the patient in person and reviewed their medical history can make an appropriate judgement call on adequate treatment for something like this. However from a layman's (outside) perspective it would seem that starting off with something mid-level in strength would allow for substantial wiggle room in the dosage and/or type of narcotic analgesic being administered. In my personal opinion based solely off observation (not having had any of my toes removed and can't fathom the amount of pain that might ensue) a moderate dose of hydrocodone appears...

How many tylenol 3s equal a 10/325mg norco? ## Hello, Yoyo! How are you? Codeine is actually a very weak opiate, so it would take 66.67mgs of it to equal each 10mg Hydrocodone. But, you can't double up, without your doctor's permission, due to the Acetaminophen in them. Taking too much of it in any 24 hour period could result in fatal toxicity, liver damage or liver failure. The FDA lists this medication as being a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Why would a doctor switch a person that's been on Hydrocodone-Apap 7.5/325mg to Tylenol 3?

Is this a norco too? ## @hayred, M367 is identified as Acetaminophen (325mg) + Hydrocodone bitartrate (10mg); a generic for norco. For verification, the National Drug Code (NDC) is: 00406-0367 @Sue, IP 109 is also identified as Acetaminophen (325mg) + Hydrocodone bitartrate (5mg); a generic for norco. I have been on buprenorohine 8mg, 3 times a day for the last 3 years for pain management. I have fibromyalgia, chronic back pain, and other pain issues. I have a current health issue causing me increased pain. So bad that nothing is helping with the pain. I was given 10mg norco to take for the pain. I have been off the buprenorohine for the last 27 hours. Can I take the norco and get any pain relief? If yes, how many should I take? Or do I have to wait longer? ## Hi Sam, I've seen this type of question come up a lot on here, and often see responses indicating that it's generally best to wait several days (e.g. 4-5 days) in-between Buprenorphine and other narcotic pain relievers such as Norco (Hydrocodone/APAP) - in order to be able to feel its effects. Seeing that you've wai...

I have severe chronic back pain. A neurosurgeon prescribed Hydrocodone-apap 10/325mgs tablets to be taken every 8 hours. I am finding that my pain diminishes 1 to 1/2 hour after taking one tablet. Can I take 1 tablet more often, i.e., every four hours? ## Have you consulted your doctor, or the neurosurgeon? Hydrocodone with Acetaminophen, the active ingredients in Vicodin, is a narcotic opiate pain medication, so while there are times it is appropriate to take it more often, sometimes as often as every 6 hours, you should not do so, without checking with your physician. Learn more about Vicodin Details ## I agree with Verwon. Talk to your doctor. You should not increase your medication dosage without his express consent. Is hydrocod/apap has codine in it? thanks! ## The combination of Acetaminophen and Hydrocodone, which is a generic for Vicodin, Norco or Lortab, is a narcotic analgesic. As such, it may be habit forming and could cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness and constipation. Learn more Lortab details here. No, it does not contain Codeine. This pill make me sweat really bad, nauseated, the shakes, out of breath and cannot eatnot. Why.?( Its a white oval like pill. hydrocodone apap 7.5 - 32 tablet Auro for> NORCO 7.5-325 MG ACTA ) ## It sounds like you are allergic to something in the tablet. You need to contact your Dr and ask him to prescribe something else. ## Hello, Lucy! How are you? Those can be side effects of this narcotic, in some people that take it. Along with dizziness, headache, constipation and dry mouth, as listed by the FDA. It also carries the risk of being habit forming. I experience these same symptoms, if I take Codeine, so I've found it best to stay away from it. Have you consulted your doctor? As BL suggested, you'll likely need to try a different medication.

I have experienced many generic brands, including Watson and Qualitest. My pharmacy just changed to the Amneal brand 10-325 hydrocodone/APAP. I am just not sure what to think about this. The pills have an IP on them. What have been the experiences of others taking this specific generic brand? ## Because these drugs can affect each individual differently, my opinion is that trial and error through one's own personal experience is the only way to accurately judge the efficacy of a specific tablet. On the other hand, I do get the sense that some brands/generics are manufactured with less quality inactive ingredients than others, potentially making them more prone to cause side effects or placebo-like responses from varying degrees of bioavailability. I haven't taken the Amneal bran...

i heard that norco had less tylonal and asprin than in vicodan ## Norco - 5/325 - has: hydrocodone 5 mg. and acetaminophen 325 mg. Norco - has 10 mg hydrocodone, and 325 mg acetaminophen. Vicodin - 5 mg hydrocodone and 500 mg acetaminophen. Vicodin ES - 7.5 mg. hydrocodone and 750 mg acetaminophen. ## Neither Norco, nor Vicodin have Aspirin in them. They have acetaminophen (APAP). ## Correct; neither have aspirin. Vicodin is probably the worst hydrocodone-containing compound available. The absolute lowest amount of liver-destroying paracetamol (acetaminophen in the USA) in any 'Vicodin' product is 500mg. What is generally referred to as 'Norco' (Watson) is 10mg/325mg. However, in personal eperience of this rather weak narcotic analgesic which is also completely overprice...

I had a tooth extraction yesterday, been taking I Norco 7.5-325 regularly since; took one pill an hour ago and the pain is still unbearable, can I take one more or even half a pill more? ## Hi Ryan, Generally with this type of drug the dosing instructions indicate that you should take 1 pill every 4-6 hours or so. I could be wrong, but I think this is mainly due to the concerns associated with Acetaminophen and liver toxicity. From my own personal experience, it should be fine to take a half a pill more, as they do make a stronger norco with 10mgs of Hydrocodone and 500mgs of Acetaminophen. So it would be as if you're taking the stronger version of the drug. Learn More: Acetaminophen + Hydrocodone I hope this helps! ## Actually, if the pain is still that bad, after having had the to...

An additional note to add is that the FDA has requested that all such medications be changed to lower the dosage of the Acetaminophen in them to a maximum of only 325mgs, due to the danger associated with its toxicity and overdose. How are you? Yes, as of the first of the year, they are only available with a maximum of 325mgs of Acetaminophen per dose, just like the new one you are taking. The Acetaminophen tends to augment the action of the narcotic, that's why the new one doesn't seem to work as well for you. However, your body should adjust after a week or two. Hi all...I have several bone fragments in my upper vertebrae from an auto accident 22 years ago (passenger) and more recently (2008) hit as a pedestrian and suffering from 8/9 mm disc bulges L5/S1 and 4th concussion 3 months ago. My lower back is obviously the worst area and I'm in the 8-9 "pain range" (severe/unbearable) on a daily basis. My GP had me on 12 10/325 Norco (APAP nightmare) for all of my chronic pain. We've tried numerous thing over the years but to no avail. The Norco was the only treatment within his realm of expertise (or what he was willing to keep me on w/out changing meds and upping my dose) that I believe he felt comfortable with. Forgot to mention that I had both epidural and facet IV's, PT and chiro, all with very short-acting results. Now, my ...
