New Dea Rules

Can you beleive this. This happened overnight. I went to my pain med Dr. and he said the DEA has set news rules in place. I was getting 120 oxycodone plus the Fentanyl Patch. I was getting 10's. New rules state you can only give 7.5 mg and only 90 per month. He said if you prescribe 10's for 4 times a day it's now a red flag and could possibly be audited by the DEA. NY state really sucks I would rather take medical marijuana for pain, but NY state makes it so hard for you. Anyone else experience this. This happened yesterday. ## May be Not true, must be a NY thing or your Dr. is lying to you. I just had my PM appointment a few days ago & got 6 per day Oxy 10's prescribbed ( my norm ) no issues. Wouldnt put it past NY, Obama admin & the Dems are really cracking do...

Are there any rules pending or active regarding placing all chronic pain patients on a morphine equivalent ratio of 120 mg. per day? To patients who have never taken an opiate this is a big dose; however, those of use who have been chronic pain sufferers for years know each individual is unique in the type, amount, how the medication is taken as to what dose works for us. The goal is to take the least amount to allow us to function at a reasonable level. I pray some common sense prevails. Sadly those people who misuse, abuse and tragically die do affect us due to the facts this is sad, sensitive, makes the news thus affecting policy and.... us! Sorry long post, a little venting. Any word on possible rulings? Thanks. Please stay safe and live full! Remember: "tough times never last, ...

l lost my mother to Lithium Poisoning/Toxicity last year. Although this drug has been around so long, I need to express my concerns. Why are there no REAL rules and regulations regarding how drug is dispensed and monitored? Her life could have been saved if the proper levels were taken as they should have been.I thought that a physician is supposed to take levels at least every 3 months? The doctor also had her on celexa, which I think complicated things even more. I wish there was an advocacy group or regulations that could bring awareness and try to protect people from this deadly drug and its dangers. My mother accidentally got the wrong dose and no labs for 18 months. She died 15 days after levels reach toxic and became flu like symptoms. Please be careful if you are taking this dru...

First off I have been reading on MedChat about new restrictions doc's are going to need to follow if they wanna stay in the pm game. Please only answer if you know what these rules are and you can name your source along with your answer. Secondly I need some suggestions on how I can get my doc to up my script even if it's only by a tablet or 2. Currently I am on 4 60mg MS Contin daily along with up to 2, 2 15mg of Oxycodone IR 4x a day. My doc has stated to me several times that he does not like adjusting IR meds and then lastly my pm doc has asked me when we are talking about these things if he thought I could do better elsewhere in town. MY ANSWER IS NO BUT I KEEP THAT TO MYSELF. I have been on the same dose for 2 years. If it matters the doc is a certified specialist and I li...

Im a disabled person that lives in chronic pain every day. And have sever anxiety & panic attacks , so my doctor told me the DEA has Some more New Rules. Because the DEA knows more about how to treat sick people than a doctor. The new rule in Florida is if you are taking Valium or Xanax you can no longer get SOMA. The DEA has made life hell in Florida DEA is treating pharmacies like Drugs Dealers. Stopping the orders from even making it to the pharmacies. I'm talking about big pharmacies CVS Wallgreens and more. It's so bad you can't even get your Legal prescriptions filled. Because the DEA has mad it impossible for the pharmacies to get the medication, and so scared to fill the prescription. And I'm talking about people in wheelchairs with a legal prescription. This...

I have CIDP which is a chronic pain syndrome illness and I was being treated by a neurologist who recently had to stop prescribing under the DEA rules unless he turned in the pain management doctor himself and he did not want to do that. Can anyone tell me a pain management doctor or just a doctor in Pittsburgh or New Castle area who write pain medications based on previous medical records. I would truly appreciate it. I do not want to go into a clinic and be looked at like I am drug seeking simply because of the amount of pain meds prescribed which was 30 mg oxy three times per day and 20 mg opana er twice per day. Educate yourself... articles.orlandosentinel.com/2012-10-11/news/os-walgreens-dea-oxycodone-20121011_1_walgreens-pharmacy-distribution-center-dea {link is dead} All pharmacies in Florida have been put on notice by a memo from the DEA that the DEA rules concerning the amount of 30mg Oxycodone that can be dispensed under the old out-dated rule (600 per month) will be enforced, rest easy this case was filed in DC & E VA. Walgreen Co. v. Holder, 12-1397, the outcome will set a new legal precedent for the DEA to follow. The DEA is playing with Florida over Oxycodone the way they are with medical pot in CA. ## Personally, I just find it very sad that so many people are suffering, because they can't get their needed medications. However, the problem isn't just isolate to Walgreens ...

somewhere close to columbus indiana husband has been taking for 8 years and family doc wont presribe cuz of new dea rules ## There are no new DEA rules governing Methadone. Go to their website and look it up. ## BL is correct, the rules are the same. If he was taking it for addiction/maintenance treatment, then regular doctors have never been able to prescribe it for that. That can only be done in a clinical setting by those specially trained in its use for such. And for pain, the new regulations concern all narcotics, not just Methadone. There have been severe restrictions placed on general practitioners and surgeons regarding what they can and cannot prescribe, so if someone needs such a medication for the long-term treatment of chronic pain, they will have to see a pain management sp...

I need to find a dr that will prescribe my Norco and demdrall for bad break through pain. 7 knee surgery and back probs. My family dr was, however thanks to DEA and the "new" rules they keep making, she sent me to pain dr. Pain dr I see now is a quack. Please help ,each find a pain dr in northwest indiana and takes H.I.P. ## What has your new PM doctor suggested? Have you tried any of the options they've offered? As to your medications, did you mean Demerol? I can't find anything listed under the name Demdrall. The FDA warns that opiates carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. Can anyone recommend a good doctor in that area?

It is getting terrible about having your Opana and break thru meds filled. My pharmacy can't fill my because they can't order any more at this time because of the new rules. Last month I had to call and go to many places trying to get them filled but they didn't have any and the ones who could order it said it would take 5-7 days to receive them. I finally found one to fill them but FDA, DEA etc. are getting stupid about this. I was in a bad motorcycle accident and I can't help that I have the pain I have. You druggies have made it awful for people who really need help. I won't say what I am thinking. It wouldn't be nice. ## I am very sorry that you are suffering and are having so much trouble getting your prescriptions filled. However, the regulations aren't...

I have been on soma's and norco for over 10 years my dr claims he can no longer prescribe the soma because of new Indiana law he cut me off cold turkey it has almost killed me my blood pressure is stroke level now never had high blood pressure before is it true about Indiana rules my pharmacist claims it's not he says it's more paperwork for dr's office what is the truth? ## Perhaps you will need Blood Pressure medicine? We are hearing a lot from all these "new rules", yet a simple search shows little in most States. I think the DEA has outlined some general outlines on how and what a Doctor can prescribe. ## Go to an ER if your BP is 180/120. You are in hypertensive crisis. Then call a lawyer and sue his stupid a$$ for medical malpractice. ## Eddy is correct. Th...

Tylenol 325/15 is OTC in just about every country except the US. We are a country that panics over prescription meds but allow the Tobacco industry to addict and slowly and painfully murder over 400,000 Americans per year for multi-billions in profit. Congress, the FDA, the DEA, federal and local police don't mind badgering someone in pain. But ask them to go after Tobacco and they are cowards! I've got no respect for the FDA *****s who set up the new "rules". They can shove'm as far as possible!!! ## So, I have looked up the real statistics. This is what the FDA, DEA, and everyone who doesn't care about other's pain. The average overdoses per year from 1999 unit today is around 14,000 Americans per year. The deaths via drunk driving is still around 16,000 Am...

When I was at my family physician yesterday, she said she may have to take me off xanax and put me on ativan because of new Indiana guidelines. She did say I could see a psychiatrist for my xanax. I explained I have been on them for over 27 years a hysterectomy take 2-.05 a day. I told her I do not abuse them etc. They are probably psychologically by now anyways. If I have to I will see a psychiatrist. We will see when I come back which is 3 months. Is there a new guideline for Indiana? I am so mad about all these new rules and regulations. I have to pay out of my pocket for my xanaxs which is over $27. A friend of mine pays over $100 for her ativan. I cannot afford this. Thanks, corky ## There are new guidelines in quite a few states, on top of FDA and DEA crackdowns that have been cau...
