Recently was accused by my pain doc of using morphine and hydromorphone. I am prescribed oxycontin, oxycodone plus fioricet with codeine by my neurologist for migraines. I am not sure but was told by my pharmacist that codeine breaks down as morphine and hydromorphone in the body. I do not cheat on my medications. He also did not see the drugs he prescribes in my system which are the oxycontin and oxycodone. My only answer was I assume I had a bad migraine and had taken the fioricet/codeine. I can't take the other meds when I have a migraine due to nausea. I would really like a coposetic answer because I do not take morphine or hydromorphone. I am tired of being accused of something I haven't done. I feel if I have an answer to the break down of the codeine it would be so helpful.

I told the neurologist that I was allergic to morphine and she said these two shots will help you we don't allow you to take any more products here but only we can give you a shot and I can't prescribe anything. She gave me two shots of Dilaudid. I must have not been very potent because I'm still in pain. If Dilaudid is a derivative of morphine then how can she give it to me if she knows that I'm allergic to morphine? ## Hello, Stefanie! How are you? Dilaudid contains the active ingredient Hydromorphone, it is related to Morphine, but not the same, so it can be tried by people that are allergic to Morphine, or other opiates. The FDA warns that it carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and consti...

An antipsychotic (or neuroleptic) is a psychiatric medication primarily used to manage psychosis (including delusions or hallucinations, as well as disordered thought), particularly in schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, and is increasingly being used in the management of non-psychotic disorders (ATC code N05A). A first generation of antipsychotics, known as typical antipsychotics, was discovered in the 1950s. Most of the drugs in the second generation, known as atypical antipsychotics, have ...

Question. Anyone have a stroke and a couple months afterward develop a palsy like tremor. Is there a med to treat this? My left side, affected by the stroke, later developed a terrible palsy, for lack of word. This includes the shoulder, shoulder blade left leg. Used to cut hair. Can't anymore. Can barely butter my toast without crushing it. Can't hold a beverage in left hand. Would a parkinsons drug help me? Very disabling. If I had some idea what medication may help control this I could propose such to my primary care doctor. I try, at all cost to stay away from specialists. Too many doctors. The idea that it was not there right after stroke, suggests something happened neurologically after coming home. What drug controls tremors in parkinsons? This is embarrassing, especially...

The Drug Enforcement Agency is making it very hard on doctors to prescribe pain medicine such as oxycodone, oxycontin, percocet and even hydrocodone. They have set new rules that go into effect May of 2016, that's this month. Unless you have a serious condition and have been on these meds for the treatment of your pain it will no longer be easy peasy getting the appropriate pain relief you need from a general practitioner... If you have sciatica with burning down the legs into the feet I suggest seeing a neurologist to treat your pain... Avoid a pain management clinic for now (until the dust settles from the new rules) if that's you I described.. A neurologist will order a emg, mri, and even a CT Scan. These will show your issues and justify a slow moderate increase in your pref...

I am moving to Walker County closer to Winston County side I am desperately seeking a physician who can continue this medication. I stopped taking Topamax in July and subsequently starting dosing up with Lamictal. Two weeks ago I was at 150 mg and as of Friday, 8/24 at 175 mg. I had blood work done 8/24 and neurologist says my levels are too low and I'll lose my license. This happened with Topamax 2 years ago, Dr. asked why I wasn't taking it, I was! They asked me the same thing today, if I was taking my meds. Every day, same time. 75 mg in am; 100 mg in pm. Anyone have any ideas as to where its going? ## That is an odd situation. Are you also taking any specific supplements or certain OTC medications with this prescription? I've read a number of different posts on here from patients who say they take a pill and their body just doesn't absorb it. It simply passes through their digestive system into...

I have both chronic and acute headaches. I've taken everything. The only relief I ever get is through narcotics. No one will prescribe them so I've spent the last 10 years in bed, in the dark. I would really like to die because the pain is so bad. When it gets bad I'll go to the ER but they won't even help me. I also have a problem with my body making kidney stones. Please help. ## Hello, Rocky! How are you? Due to the new regulations that were put in place last year, if you require narcotics on a long-term ongoing basis, you'll need to see a specialist. A PCP won't be able to prescribe them for you. Thus, you'll likely need to see a neurologist and a urologist. Do you currently have a PCP that could refer you to other doctors? If so, that would be the best w...

I've been using 100mcg patch Fentanyl every 48 hours for months now. Last week my neurologist had to prescribe me a Medrol-Dos Pak (steroids) because the pain in my knee became unbearable, even with pain medication. It was too early to get another shot. So, I'm now on DAY 3 of the DOSE PAK, and I swear these patches start wearing off after only 1 day! Out of the blue I started feeling horrible withdrawal symptoms yesterday, even though I wasn't due to change the patch until today. I had no choice but to replace the patch early. I figured maybe it was a defective patch. But now TODAY I am experiencing the same problem. If these are not defective patches, then the only factor possible is the steroid medication having an effect on the medication/or my body's tolerance level...

i live in new castle pa.and my pain doctor retired and i need to find a new pain doctor that is willing to wright oxycodone and opanas ## Can somone please help me. I have CIDP which is a chronic pain syndrome illness and I was being treated by a neurologist who recently had to stop prescribing under the DEA rules unless he turned in the pain management doctor himself and he did not want to do that. Can anyone tell me a pain management doctor or just a doctor in Pittsburgh or New Castle area who write pain medications based on previous medical records. I would truly appreciate it. I do not want to go into a clinic and be looked at like I am drug seeking simply because of the amount of pain meds prescribed which was 30 mg oxy three times per day and 20 mg opana er twice per day. I wonder does anyone else suffer with ongoing everyday pain in their teeth/tooth caused by nerve endings in gums, it took a very long time to get diagnosis for this, and a few extractions by dentist before doctors discovered it was a nerve pain and not a dental pain, I have had this for several years now, everyday in life, its like having a toothache, I had a back tooth removed when it first began as I was insistent it was a toothache, but it only moved into the next tooth, my dentist refused to remove anymore teeth as xray showed there was no problem with my teeth, and the one removed was a very healthy tooth. Ive been to hospitals, see Professors, had RadioFreqency carried out on it going through my cheek, with no success, as wrong nerve was burned off, my GP says it will go away one ...

I have a brain injury due to an unfortunate meeting with a moose and my car. I was doing very well. I actually went skiing in February. My last xolair injection was march 1. On march 2, I had to go to the ER because of anaphylaxis. By march 6, I couldn't walk well. I was admitted to the rehab unit at the hospital for 12 days. I am using a walker to get around. Has anyone else had reaction similar, or a neurological reaction? ## Hi, Michele! I am very sorry about what happened to you. Anaphylaxis is actually the main adverse reaction listed for Xolair and it is likely that it is what caused the neurologic problems. Thus, they are basically an indirect result of the Xolair and a direct result of the anaphylactic reaction. Learn more Xolair details here. Anaphylaxis has been known to o...

I took Cipro for a UTI and within 24 hrs of starting it began to have issues with breathing and energy and balance. After finishing the drug things got worse. And the thing that bothers me most is that my Dr. rx'ed the drug for a UTI BEFORE getting the lab work... the bacteria was e-coli.... and Cipro didn't kill it!!! I still had the UTI.... Meanwhile it is now 7 months since I took the drug and I'm still having massive issues with balance and extreme fatigue. I have a friend who took it and lost his color vision for 2 yrs. He also experienced balance issues, brain fog and extreme fatigue. I'd like to know of others who have similar issues, how long it has been since the last dose and what conditions they are still suffering from. Please talk to me about your experience...

role of phlogam tablet in neurologicalsergery ## Each Phlogam tablet contains: trypsin 48 mg + bromelain 90 mg + rutoside trihydrate 100 mg. This combination is commonly used as a post operative supplement to help speed up the healing of wounds, pain and inflammation. It has additional uses as well, but in relation to surgery I would think that this would be it's primary role. I took a similar bromelain supplement after I had nose surgery a few years ago and the inflammation was significantly reduced after taking it for a couple weeks. It may provide other benefits as well, but I would suggest discussing the use of it with your surgeon in case he or she has other instructions or recommendations for a pre or post operative supplement. There's also already an active discussion thr...

Hello, I wanted to share my story and ask others if they are experiencing similar side affects. I'm a 35 year old female and took accutane 6 months ago for 6 weeks only (prescribed not for acne, but for seborrheic dermatitis which is normal/legal in Poland where I was diagnosed)! Four months later I have more and more side effects that are gradually appearing and getting worse. My main concern: - shortness of breath and occasional chest pain (started recently and getting worse by day, but x-ray doesn't show anything unusual nor do the blood tests) - head pressure (a bit like sinus infection, but without a mucous), mainly at top of nose, slightly stuffy nose, temples, front and top of head and occasional ear ache - neurological issues, aches (still mild) in arms and legs, extreme...
