I am presently taking gabapentin and if I forget 1 tablet it is awful. I can't sleep and my legs ache and the next morning because of the lack of sleep I can not function. I am on this medicine for back pain and I do believe it helps.. I would like to get off this drug and maybe try something natural but not sure what is in this. I have read several horror stories that have concerned me on the withdrawal from this drug. Just looking for something that may be a natural substitute. Thank you so much.. By the way I am 68 years old and take 600 mg at bedtime.. ## Hello, Eloise! How are you? Unfortunately, there is no over the counter equivalent. Rather than missing tablets, if you have a smart phone, there are quite a few reminder apps available for free that you can set to go off, so t...

Just started on Nuvigil for daytime drowsiness from OSA, third day. First night I couldn't sleep; second night I took 3mg of melatonin and was able to sleep, but not quite as awake on third morning as prior day - haven't fallen asleep yet, but yawning. Is melatonin OK to use to make sure I get to sleep at night, or might that be counteracting the nuvigil into the next day? Should I expect some variability in the first couple of weeks regarding how awake I feel in the day and when it wears off in the evening? Should I not take melatonin at night if it's keeping me up? ## Hello, SleepyPete1 How are you? It should be okay, as long as your doctor approves of you taking it. I didn't find any dangerous problems or interactions listed between the two, but it's always best t...

I took Ativan .5 mg this morning @1:30 and than Friday evening the emergency room doctor gave me 1mg to calm my nerves down! I don't like the side affacts and was hoping to try a natural relaxant! So can I take the natural supplement with Ativan in my system and how long should I wait to take natural relaxant? Will it counter react if it's still in my system? I want to live a normal life with out relying on a drug that has all these side affects! ## Hello, Marilyn! How are you? The product you mentioned is a natural supplement, so it has not been evaluated for possible reactions with prescription medications. It also has not actually been proven to help with anything. They don't give specifics on the amounts, but it's listed as containing Valerian, Passion Flower and Mag...

my husband has been taking omeprazole for an ulcer, and to protect his stomach from cumadin. i went to get his script yesterday, and medicare and medicaid isnt covering it anymore... just like nexium and protonix. the price of the script is 407.00!!!! we just dont know where to go from here. is there an alternative med that anyone knows of that medicare will pay for? ## They covered it, until very recently and it is the generic, one of the cheaper medications. You should check his coverage to see what medications they will cover. ## I would be getting your husband to try over the counter Zantac 150mg twice a day. morning and supper and that will help better then the Nexium and Prevacid and other acid reducers. i am on Zantac twice a day, can't take Nexium and others. to many side ef...

Hi, every morning and through the day my eyes are burning, itching, and really red. I have read up on different vitamins, but was wondering if anyone has the same problem. Thanks Clare ## Lately I have had the same problem. Although an antihistamine helps with the itching, sneezing due to allergy, my eyes are quite red. Checking with my eye doctor, he suggested that my eyes are dry due to time of year and not enough moisture, so I was advised to use lubricating eye drops about 4 times a day. Picked up over-the-counter eye drops. This has helped a lot. ## Clare, I also have to advise seeing an eye doctor, rather than guessing what's wrong and trying to treat it yourself. Your vision isn't something worth risking to guess work. It may be due to allergies and dryness, like the issu...

I have a massive toothache and was looking through my old prescriptions for something for pain. I found a bottle that the label is faded from being kept on the windowsill and was wondering what the pills were. They are small, white with a fancy V on one side and blank on the other. Any ideas? It's early Saturday morning and I can't get to the dentist until Tuesday and Tylenol isn’t cutting it anymore. ## I'm sorry, but there aren't any prescription pain medications that just have a V on them, they all have additional numbers or letters. If this only has a V then it is only logical to conclude that it's something that's available over the counter and I'm sorry to say that leaves the possible options very wide open as to what it may be. Loratidine no longer works for me and my nose is always running. I'm allergic to dust and mold. occasionally I get sinus headaches but not all the time. ## Hello, Jeanne! How are you? Have you ever tried Allegra/Fexofenadine? It's very similar and also available over the counter. However, only your doctor can say wether or not it is safe for you. Side effects may include dizziness, drowsiness and dry mouth. ## Ask your doctor about Singulair, it is a prescription/nondrowsy allergy medication. Since your allergic response "cells" are most productive in the early morning hours, like midnight through 3 am,, it is best to take Singulair at 8 pm so the drug peaks at that time. Talk to your doctor, I've seen amazing results.

I just started taking lipozene yesterday late afternoon. This morning there wre two capsules pieces in the toliet bowl after I pooped. Does that mean it's not wooing like it should? ## HI, Buddy! How are you? This is an over the counter product, not a prescription medication and the first thing I found, when I searched for information on it is an article from the LA Times discussing how the manufacturers have made many bold claims, but there is nothing to back them up. It has never been proven to work, at all. Thus, I can't tell you if they are doing anything and if that is or isn't normal. Does anyone else know more? ## The same thing happened to me!! Is there something over the counter that works like Librax? I have GAD and have occasional morning bouts of irritabal bowel syndrome. I had a prescription for Librax and still have a few but I don't know if the doc will refill it. ## HI, Wendy! No, I'm afraid there isn't. There may be some natural herbal remedies that you could try, if you have a health food/vitamin shop nearby, they are usually pretty knowledgeable about such things and can make suggestions….of course you always need to make sure that your trying such things is okay with your doctor, before doing so. Otherwise, the best suggestion I can make is to discuss the issue with your doctor. They may refill it, it is fairly common for such issues to occur regularly and not really clear up on their own, so many...

I was non symptamatic before taking pantoprazole. Now I have nausea, sleep problems and overall having stomach issues I did not have. Gastro doc prescribed after upper GI as a preventive measure.
