I am prescribed this drug for recurrent middle ear infection. Do I still need to drink plenty of water taking this medicin? ## Hi Pratik D, I would just recommend listening to your body and staying hydrated throughout the day as needed. However, drinking a gallon of water a day is usually adequate for most individuals who are active and require more hydration. The instructions for taking this medication note the following: "Co-trimoxazole comes as a tablet and a liquid to take by mouth. It usually is taken two times a day but may be taken up to four times a day for severe lung infections. Drink a full glass of water with each dose." I am an 18 year old healthy male with no previous ear infections, only the odd cold. I've had the symptoms of Otitis Media with Effusion, OME, a buildup of fluids in the middle ear and eustachian tube, causing pressure behind the eardrum - feeling of having blocked ears, slight balance problems and headaches etc - but have only just recently become annoying and I got a diagnosis of it. The doctor prescribed corticoides to inhale, which he said should take effect within a couple weeks, and if not, adenoidectomy is a possibility. My question is could this problem have been caused by my occasional smoking over the last six months? I never touched an industrial cigarette, only joints and narghile (hookah). And at a rate of only two or three evenings a month. Basically I only rarely smok...

I had paralysis of left vocal cord after having a thyroidectomy. I had hoarseness and shortness of breath, which is common with the paralysis. I have since had vocal cord medialization with injection. I still have hoarseness and the shortness of breath is now worse than ever. ENT kind of brushed it aside and told me I should see a Pulmonologist to make sure Asthma is under control. For the last week shortness of breath has been REALLY bad. Saw Pulmonologist today ALL clear with my lungs. I am scheduled for a Pulmonary Function Test, so I can take results to ENT to show him at my next visit. Anyone who can relate? I am SO frustrated!
