Levothyroxin Side Effects

I have been on Levothyroxin for 6 weeks, I have an underactive Thyroid. I have been taking the medication about 4-5am and go back to bed. I'm up at 7am and by 9am I'm so dizzy( weird dizzy feeling/hard to explain, can't focus, so tired, blurred vision). I have to lay down and sleep. By 4-5pm the dizziness is better(NOT gone completely) and I feel like I'm flushed, like i'm coming off a bad flu.....then it starts ALL over again the next day. I decided to try to take it at night about hour after eating(about 7pm) ...so dizzy in the night and by 7am still dizzy. By about 12-1pm I start feeling a little better. Wondering if this is all side effects? or is my dose TOO low(only on 23mg). SO Frustrating...see Neurologist and Dr. this week ## That is very unusual and not typ...

I was recently diagnosed with an underactive thyroid. I have been taking levothyroxine for almost two weeks. For the last four or five days I have had a weird feeling. It is hard to explain. I don't really feel dizzy but I get a strange feeling in my head. I guess you would describe it as a head rush. Has anyone else had this feeling and will it go away as my body adjusts to the levothyroxine? ## yes i would get that every morning after i took my pills and drank coffee. I think its inmortant to eat a little over an hour after to avoid the dizziness. Hi, I've taken Nitrofur-Macr 100mg and did ok with it. I recently had to start taking Levothyroxine 50mg for a thyroid condition. And now when I take Nitrofur-Macr I break out all over my neck, ears, back & arms in a horrible rash that burns almost. Is this a normal side effect? I had a total thyroid removal in June 2014. Was 1st put on 124mg of Levothyroxine, later 112 mg and swelling in both feet and legs began. My left leg looked like a stove pipe along with my swollen feet and toes. I developed hammer toes next to my large toe. Later I was placed on the 100mcg and the swelling continued. I spoke with my endorcrinologic who told me she could not help me but to speak with my general practitioner. To make a long story short I went to a heart doctor, had a mapping of my legs and found out I had small veins. I was told I had Lymphedema and was referred to a clinic. I did not go to this doctor. I am allergic to the dye in the 112mcg Synthroid tablets. Does anyone know of a 112mcg that is white??? Levothyroxine ? Is there anyone out there that has had a good experience with this medicine. Also does it always cause hair loss. It was just prescribed for me yesterday but I'm afraid to take it after reading about it. ## I've been taking Levothyroxine for 6 years now and I've had a great experience with this medicine. I have had to up the milligram dosage 3 times, but that's due to my thyroid levels keep decreasing. im on 50mg of levotyroxine still feel like crap, still heavy, will it all change ## How long have you been taking it? Most medications require 4 to 6 weeks to reach their full effectiveness in the body and not all of them work for everyone that tries them, thus there is really no way to say whether or not this will change for you. You can usually tell, when you've hit this point, because that is also when any side effects you're experiencing will be most severe, such as nausea, drowsiness and dizziness, then they will start to taper off in severity. However, your body can react differently to differenct medications, so while on one medication you may not experience a lot of side effects, but a switch to a new drug, even in the same class, might result in more severe side effects. I've been taking it for almost 2 weeks and get nauseated and don't have an appetite. ## Have you consulted your doctor? Both of those can be normal side effects, but their severity is what decides whether or not they are a real problem. Years of Levothyroxine and never felt better. completely quit and have more energy, but very grumpy ## From what I could gather, irritability is listed as a side effect of Levothyroxine. why when i take a lower dose my weight take kinda level, i was taking 75mg then 100 and now 112 and i have gain 20 pounds. so i just stop taking my meds altogether, so can you tell me what will happen if i just don't take it ## Your condition will get out of control, which can result in other ill health effects and complications. Why are woman prescribed levothyroxine more often than men? ## Women are the ones that most commonly develop thyroid issues, at least according to NIH studies, though I supposed it is possible that they may also just see a doctor more often and end up being diagnosed more than men. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, weight changes, and hair loss. Is there anything else I can help with?

I am so confused and need help quick pretty please! My doctor wants me to take the medication to LOWER my thyroid, but in the medication description and side effects it says to take this is the thyroid is too low to get it higher so I just don't get it?
