Hi my dog was diagnosed with kennel cough. Or that's what they think. Despite her no contact with other dogs. She was prescribed clavaseptin 50mg every 12 hr. It was almost 90$ here's the thing I have 2 more dogs who since I have found out are separated. I have amoxicillian at home from my own. Pharmacy. Would it be safe to give to the dog?

An article by Colorado State University also notes that Codeine (an active ingredient in Iophen) is in fact used in dogs. Furthermore, NIH.gov depicts Guaifenesin's use in dogs as well; Guaifenesin being the other active ingredient in Iophen. It's a small round yellow pill about the size of an aspirin. Both sides are slightly beveled out (NOT FLAT) and only one side is scored in the middle. There are no other markings on the pill. The 10-month-old dog we adopted had a slight cough and we were given these pills from the rescue... ## Hello Brian, I am sorry to say but without an imprint there is really no way to tell you what kind of medication that you were given. The pill bottle/box that your medication came in is supposed to be labeled with the ingredients in case of an overdose, if this is not the case your rescue has made an error. So, your dog should be getting 180mgs to 450mgs following the dosing schedule of your veterinarian.
