Whats the best out there, have tried the MS Contin and now finally have full insurance.. any replies greatly appreciated ## Hello, Barbieann! How are you? There is no way to say for sure that you'll need an increase that fast, it can actually vary from person to person, depending on your tolerance to narcotics. Can I cut this oxycodone 30mg pill in half (v 48/12)? I'm prescribed it for breakthrough pain along with fentanyl 75mcg that's also prescribed for chronic pain. ## This is a regular release formulation, so it ca be cut, or broken, with your doctor's approval. The FDA warns that it carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. Are these the only medications you are currently taking?

What is the difference between the oxycodone I.r 224/ & the a215 the 224 is much bigger& the a215 is smaller & seems too work faster & better is there a difference please help me. ## Hello, Michel! How are you? They have been manufactured by different companies, which is very common with generic medications. As to the size difference, that is dependent upon which inactive ingredients they chose to use, since there is a variety that they can choose from, as long as they are on the list approved by the FDA to be used in a medication. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with?

I've been taking 240 Percocet 10/325 for over 10 yrs with 60 mg MS Contin twice a day for breakthrough pain. When I'm out of the blue my doctor sends me to a pain management specialist because he says he can't write for any narcotic over 120 tabs a month. I go to this new doc who wants to inj. something in my spine in an area he calls the sweet spot, and that I have been over medicated by my other doctor but only after a MRI which I had and I went back after my scan and it turns out I don't have a sweet spot. My thecal sac is 5.4 and gets worse the lower it goes. So he sends me to a surgeon with a script for Percocet 15 mg and it's not touching my pain. I was wondering if I should request something stronger? I was at least able to function with my old med plan but I...

This tablet is manufactured by Rhodes Pharmaceuticals and they list it as containing 20mgs of Oxycodone in a regular release formulation. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Has anybody heard of M 30 oxycodone being reformulated? My mother has been on oxycodone for quite a while now and recently had an rx filled and had a few M's that almost instantly swell up and turn into mush when she takes them. They are the same diameter as the other M's but alot thicker and from what she says, they aren't as effective as the thinner M's. Any info would help, thanks. ## Hello, JOTO! How is your mother doing? No, I've not heard of such a thing. Were they identical in color, too? Were there any other noticeable differences? This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. ## The only noticable difference was the clarity of the imprin...

Aloha, I get my medication via the VA pharmacy in Oahu, and recently my doctor changed my Rx to be oxycodone immediate release 5mg. I always look up my medication to make sure what's on the pill is what I should be getting. I got a tiny round white pill with 223 on one side and the other side has a score line. Googling gave the answer that it is oxycodone hydrochloride 5mg, but didn't say if was or wasn't immediate release. I called the VA pharmacy and they said it is immediate release, and it's made by Golden State Pharmacuticals. However, I can't seem to find much online about this company and/or if this pill is or isn't immediate release. Thank you so much for your help! :) ## Hey, I get the same brand medication from the VA. It is Oxycodone in a regular relea...

Can a 80mg Oxycontin be cut in half and broken down to work immediately instead of the time released? I'd rather use it for breakthrough pain. ## You can't......plain and simple. Oxycontin contains a "plastic" component that does not break up so it can't be turned into an IR from an ER. There are things people are doing instead, rectally, but it is quite dangerous. I'm not judging you or anything, but if you are using them recreationally you are better off with OXYCODONE IR. I wouldn't gamble with your life by doing things others are doing. If you are on oxycontin for chronic pain, you seem to need an immediate release formula for breakthrough pain. I'm sorry I don't have more to tell you. I have a friend on oxycontin and he said the pain relief just ...

I am a gastric bypass patient and have used Vyvanse 70 mg which is very effective for between four and five hours. I have been taking 60mg ms contin extended release 3 times a day + 30mg oxycodone immediate release 4 times a day. Recently my doctor changed the oxycodone to morphine 30mg immediate release. He also added lyrica 75 mg and I also take baclofen 10mg & amitriptyline 50mg in which i take 2. I'm still in constant pain. I was shot 8 yrs ago and I still hardly feel relief. What will help me? ## Hello, Shy! How are you? Oxycodone is one and a half times stronger than Morphine, so the dosages are not equivalent, which likely explains why you are in pain. The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and it may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. As to the Lyrica, that may take 4 to 5 weeks, before it reaches ...

which is better - how do I know which one I have? ## Hello, Mickey! How are you? Which is better can depend on the person. Some people do better with the regular release that takes about 15 to 20 minutes to start working, but not everyone stays asleep with it, so they may require the sustained release. The FDA classifies this as a sedative hypnotic that is most commonly used for the short-term treatment of insomnia. Its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, somnolence, hallucinations, funny taste in mouth, next day hangover-like effects and sleep actions. What are the markings on the pills you have? If you can post back with this information, I can check to see which formulation they are.

looking for bupropion that is an immediate release pill prefferally white ## From what I've seen, there aren't any generic bupropion tablets that are both white and immediate-release. There are however, other brands of bupropion, such as Aplenzin, which are not extended-release and happen to be white as well. These particular pills are manufactured by Sanofi-Aventis. Teva Pharmaceuticals USA and Sandoz Pharma also make generic, immediate-release bupropion, but the pills are yellow, pink, and purple, as opposed to white. I have been on Hydrocodone since 2002. Along the way a fentyl patch was added to help with being ill in between doses. Currently on 25 fentyl and 50 mg Hydrocodone per day. Dr told me at last visit that there office was no longer going to prescribe immediate release meds like Hydrocodone. Cut me down to 30 hydro per day but no other adjustments. Planning to go down to one at next visit. Not sure what to do when even pain mgmt doc stops ordering. I am prescribed 6 Opana 10 mg immediate release, and I have come a long way considering they ran me as a guinea pig and had me on it all - from Fentanyl patch 100 (yes that's right 100 mcg), and the breakthrough med was dilaudid 4 mg and the 8 mg, as well as having been on OxyContin (the op kind / not the old ones). That was in my experimental days. I was on the 60's of those which didn't help even with the breakthrough pain. I lost a lot of good friends from the old ones. They overdosed and died. The new version never touched my pain either. I was on 15, to 20, to 30 mg. Also Lortab and Percocet (the 10's). None helped my pain. All you think is about is the pain and just wanting a normal life. And not having to depend on damn pills ever again. To be able to have babies ...

a Dr. prescribes nifedipine 20mg slow release three times a day for a customes is it safe to give him/her 20mg of the immediate release three times a day ## I would suggest doing so, without their doctor's approval. Nifedipine is a calcium channel blocker, which is most commonly used to help treat angina and replacing the time released medication with an immediate release could result in their getting too much of the medication at once, which could cause an overdose. Are there any other questions or comments?
