I am currently taking tramacet while I'm waiting for surgery for my broken jaw. Having taken narcotic drugs recreationally before I can tell you that it certainly doesn't feel like any narcotic drug I've taken. As far as pain relief is concerned it is amazing and has allowed me to continue working and functioning. I haven't experienced any side effects. ## Hi, Ruan! How are you doing? Yes, the Tramadol in this medication can be habit forming and addictive. While it is classified as just a centrally acting analgesic, it is derived from an opiate, so it can also cause similar side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, constipation and dry mouth. Insomnia don't seen addictive ## Tramadol is an analgesic that's derived from an opiate, so it can be addicting. It isn't used, however, to treat insomnia. Side effects can also include nausea, dizziness, headache and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with?

is Tramadol contains any opiates ? ## Tramadol is narcotic! Some have different views on it but it is 100% narcotic with opiate traits. This medicine should be used with lots of caution, the doctors make it out like its non-addictive, but it is truly addictive as any other narcotic. But there are some good things that come from tramadol, and just as this year they are now finding it naturally produced in relatively high concentrations in the roots of the African Pin Cushion Tree. Just know it can be abuse very easy! Thanks ## Hello, Hokaz! How are you? Justin is correct, thank you Justin! Tramadol is classified as an opioid analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming. When creating it, researchers tried to take an opiate and remove the addictive potential to prevent abuse, bu...

Tramadol is not a narcotic but a very powerful pain medication without being a narcotic ## You are correct, it is not a narcotic nor a controlled substance; however, I have not found it to be a powerful pain killer. It has been abused a lot and is addictive but it did nothing for my pain, and is only recommended for mild to moderate pain. ## Does Ultram have the same effects as Percoset or Vicodin? ## I think I can add some valuable information to this post to better explain this issue… Tramadol was at one point classified as a narcotic opiate, but when it was found to not be as effective at treating pain, it was reclassified as a centrally acting analgesic. The way Tramadol came into being is because an attempt was made to take all the beneficial effects of an opiate ...

TRAMADOL=DECEPTIVE POISON. this drug is one of the nastier little secrets of the painkiller industry. from my experience it is highly addictive with all the standard withdrawal symptoms plus severe interference with the logical thought processes, more so than other opiates. and to think that this drug is advertised as a safer alternative to other painkillers. I work with numbers as part of my job and I was unable to function once i ran out of my supply early. put myself into a long term suboxone rehab program. am almost ready to "graduate" from the program. (yipee!!!). this nightmare has cost me about $450 a month for doc visits and meds. TRAMADOL = DECEPTIVE POISON ## Sorry about the problem you had from taking Tramadol. And yes, it can be very deceptive. Since it is classified...

My family doctor has me on tramadol 150 mg. I do take more 300 mg a day. She wants to stop the med because she thought it was short term, and did not know it was addictive. If I talk to her about suboxone.. can she prescribe that med? Or does it have to be a cash only psych Dr? ## Hello, Mj! How are you? Suboxone also contains an opiate and carries just as much of a risk of being habit forming. It combines Buprenorphine with Naloxone. As listed by the FDA, it can also cause similar side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Any doctor can prescribe it, the restrictions only apply to it being used for addiction treatment. However, as I said, it is another opiate. Have you considered seeing a pain management specialist? ## Can a family doctor prescrib...

I have constant severe nerve pain in my neck from old whiplash injuries. I'm told Lyrica is good but costs a bomb. Tramadol helped my mom with a similar problem. Is fast becoming a low grade but definite controlled substance. Have there been many cases of over dose? Deaths? Why is this happening? Back in the day you could order narcotics from Sears catalog. And buy tramadol over the counter. I'm not saying this is responsible for this day in age of course, but there just seems to be so much over control. I'm not speaking for all, just this particular medication. It has potential dependence not so much abuse. And so what I don't drink. Don't smoke.hate that, ew. Just put it behind the counter and ask for an I.d. 21 and older. ## Hello, BluLotus! How are you? I understand what you're saying, but Tramadol does have addictive potential, plus there have been cases of overdose. While it seems like a rather benign mild medication, i...

Has anyone been on tramadol and then started on cymbalta too? I take 150 mg tramadol for a frozen shoulder am have been off Vicodin for a year due to its addictive properties. My Dr. added cymbalta due to increasing joint pain and ongoing depression with horrible morning depression. Just stopped taking 20 mg Lexapro. What have people noticed about combing these 2 meds? I want to function better but not develop serotonin syndrome. ## Hello, Mayvar! How are you? What dosage did he prescribe of the Cymbalta? That's the important factor regarding serotonin syndrome. Your dose needs to be carefully adjusted and your doctor should be monitoring you regularly so any symptoms can be caught early. ## It was the lowest dose of cymbalta, and I take 150 mg go tramadol. I took them both for two ...

Any one in the Anchorage,AK area having trouble getting prescription for tramadol from your Dr.? My Dr. prescribe's me 3-50mg. a day, but for some reason he now will only prescribe me 60 a month. When I first started out with him he would prescribe me 90 a month no problem. I have verifiable lower back" degenerative issue" as he put's it. With MRI to prove it. Is tramadol now looked at the same as a narcotic or what? He doesn't even want to discuss the issue. Just weird. ## From an outside perspective I can only think that your doctor may just be looking for you by playing it safe with the dosing so that you don't become too dependent or addicted to the medication. Tramadol is addictive even though its not an opiate. Tramadol is not currently scheduled as a contr...

one side of pill is a M and the other side of the pill is T7 ## what type of drug is tramadol hcl 50 mg. is it narcotic, like morphine or codene, is more like accetomedaphen(tylonal), asprin or what? What is it addictive, not addictive, have been given it for pain and having trouble finding out info on it... ## Tramadol is an interesting medication, the FDA has actually changed its classification several times. Basically, when inventing this drug, what they were trying to do was retain the analgesic properties of an opiate, but cut out the side effects and dependence or addiction issues. What they go was a pain killer that is actually somewhere in between. It does not work as effectively as most narcotics and it can cause the same side effects as an opiate, including dependence and addi...

What is the normal dose for tramadol hcl 50mg? I am taking utter prn tid for severe back pain. I have taken 75mg before I got relief. ## Tramadol became a Schedule IV August 18, 2014. Under Federal Law, a dr can write refills and can call it in. There are no restrictions on how often you must see your dr. But, your dr can have you come in as often as he wants and he doesn't have to give refills or call it in. ## The interesting thing about Tramadol is the fiasco of its creation. LOL Originally, the intent was to try to create a medication that would have the pain relieving properties of opiates, without having the addictive tendencies, and all the side effects, however, what they ended up with is a mild pain reliever that can still be habit forming, and is only a moderate level anal...

This is the first message I have ever left in a Tramadol forum so I apologize if it isn't in the right location. I just wanted to tell a little about my story. I have been addicted to Tramadol for the last 4 years. My doctors assured me that it was not addictive and was a great option for my pain. I have had multiple surgeries on my knee and have chronic pain and for a while the Tramadol did help. But it didn't take long before I realized that I also like the way that I felt when I took it. As time went on the dose didn't do it for me so I kept taking more and more. For the last few months I was up to 40 -45 of them a day. It was a constant struggle to keep myself supplied and was costing me a small fortune. Other than my addiction my life is great. I own a successful busine...

My new doctor gave me 3 weeks to get off Zopiclone now she wants me off Tramadol. How long would this take? Is there something I can take that is similar but not addictive? She also wants me off Methocarbamol 1,500 mg every 4 hours. I am scared stiff to come off all of these meds so quickly. Thank you ## Hello, Gina! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem you're having. How long have you been taking the Tramadol and how soon does she want you to stop it? The FDA does classifies it as an opioid, so it can be habit forming, which means a slow taper is usually best to prevent the worst of the possible withdrawal symptoms. They are listed as typically including nausea, dizziness, fever, chills, rebound pain and diarrhea. Unfortunately, there's really nothing similar that doesn...
