Does Hydromorphone and Hydrocodone carry the risk of any adverse drug interactions when taken four hours apart? ## Yes, it could result in an overdose, if someone isn't opiate tolerant. They may also experience more intense side effects than usual, according to the FDA, which could include nausea, dizziness, constipation, and drowsiness. I have been on hydrocodone for years. Never really helped with my pain. I injured my back several years ago. I just recently was prescribed hydromorphone 4 mg for chronic pain. Just wanted to know if anyone has experience with it. And what can I expect as far as side effects. Hello everyone, I'm trying to find out what manufacturer makes the best (as in best pain relief) 8 mg hydrocodone. I've been taking 8 mg Mallinckrodt hydrocodone since December 2017. I take the medication for breakthrough neuropathic pain (I also have intrathecal pump w/ hydromorphone). Prior to Dec. 2017, I was taking Actavis brand 30 mg oxycodone but getting only minimal pain relief which is why my doctor switched to the hydrocodone. I had tried a few different brands of oxycodone but in the end, stuck with Actavis as it was MUCH better than the others. My UA at the my pain management Doctor's office came up positive for Oxycontin, but I am prescribed Hydromorphone 4mg x 3 & Hydrocodone 10/325mg x 4 - why is that? ## Hello, Marie! How are you? So today i took 2 hydromorphone dilauded and a couple hours later took 2 vicodin. Now my mouth tastes very nasty. Is this from the medication? Or is something wrong with my teeth? What would be the strongest version? ## The first you mentioned is not hydrocodone, it's actually hydromorphone. That is stronger, than say, a lortab or something with hydrocodone in it. As a way to end a long battle with neuropathic pain from chemotherapy that started with hydrocodone and ended with 100 mcg Duragesic Patch/48 hours, I wanted to get off the patches and so first brought down, slowly, to 50 mcg Duragesic/48 hours and then I wanted to move to a different drug - we switched to hydromorphone, beginning at 8 mg 6 x day for 4 days, then 4 mg a 11 x day for 7 days, then eventually to 4 mg 8 x a day = 32 mgs a day. I am not metabolizing this well and in a lot of pain and discomfort, and so we are switching to a drug I am unfamiliar with, called Lucynta. My doctor has approved the name brand for generic Hydrocodone, but I cannot find a pharmacy that will even try to get a brand other than Mallinckrodt, Lupin, or Amneal; the generic brands that are sent to them. I was doing great when Watson had the yellow oblong 10/325 and am at my wits' end. I am in bad pain every day of my life. I don’t know how much longer I can take this pain. Not everyone with chronic pain is just a drug addict but we are all treated that way. I just had knee surgery may 3rd.I had Hydromorphone and ran out and because of the slow healing process that i am experencing,My Doc gave me hydrocodone 5/325's.He said to take 1-2 every for pain,but it doesn't seem to be working.Should I wait a while longer to see if it does.I DON'T want to take very high does of acedaminophin because of liver damage. ## You can take Ibprofin with this. ## You are correct to worry about taking too much of the Acetaminophen, not only does it risk liver damage, but it can be toxic if you take too much of it in a day.
