I had signs of a UTI and had several 500 mg Doxycycline on hand from a long term antibiotic treatment back in Feb. So, I began treatment at two per day, called my doc and then he prescribed Cipro at 250 mg for 7 days. Now without speaking to him or the nurse, what should I do? ## It is always best to follow your doctor's instructions. i was prescribed this for a vaginal bacteria infection. since i have been taking it i have experienced itching in this region and almost feels sensitive and swollen. is this normal? am i allergic? ## Unfortunately, while Doxycycline is an antibiotic that can treat bacterial infections, it can cause a fungal yeast infection, as a side effect. Just wondered if this med. is common for treating staph infections. i was taking 800mg Bactrim prior to this. My abscess has been lanced and drained and was given this prescription as a second round antibiotic. But Cats is right that your doctor should be able to prescribe you the appropriate antibiotic based on their diagnosis and a closer evaluation. However, I am finding from my own research that certain antibiotics such as (Azithromycin or Doxycycline) are what's commonly recommended by doctors for treating chlamydia. Is it okay to start taking my doctor prescribed ampicillin 500mg 3x daily after two doses of doxycycline 100mg? Took only two tablets 12 hours apart? I took 3-day 500 mg Azithromycin for Acne rosacea. The total dose should be 3 day 500 mg and then skip 5 days and then take 3-day 500 mg until 4 weeks of period. but I have skin rash and itching. My doctor prescribed doxycyclin 150 mg per day. I thought Azithromycin was safer than Doxy and less sunsensitive. Should I continue Azithro or start taking Doxy and quit Azithro after three days. ## You should follow your doctor's instructions, if you are itching from the Azithromycin, that could be due to an allergic reaction and they tend to get worse, with repeated expose to the offending medication.
