If I Took A Dilaudid Is It To Take Oxycontin

I have been on Dilaudid for over 2 years now and I can't seem to get off of it. I'm under a doctor's care, but anyone who is on it knows it's very addicting! I think like everybody else, it's no good if you take it orally. It's only effective other ways. I always run out of Dilaudid before my prescription is ready to refill and recently I filled a script for oxycontin 40 mg to see if they could replace my 4 mg Dilaudid. However, I took 1/2 of a 40 mg. and felt nothing. An hour later I took my 4 mg Dilaudid and it seems to have worked. But they are very short lived, that's why for chronic pain they like to give these stupid time release pain pills. How many mg.'s does equal the same amount of Dilaudid? I took 2mg of Dilaudid 2 hrs ago and was then told to take 20mg ER Oxycontin the next hour. Is that ok? ## Who told you to take them both? The FDA warns that these medications carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth. Were they both prescribed for you? Are you on any other medications? ## Wow, who are you to talk to someone like that? People know the risk. We're not stupid. Do you ever drink? I have never been on oxycontin before but just recently got prescribed 20mg of it. I have taken dilaudid, morphine, and oxycodone pills before though. I accidentally took two oxycontins within 2 hours of eachother as my anxiety medication is small and the same color. I am not a big fan of the formula change but find the op oxycontin to still work on my chronic pain. The main thing I notice is Ill get only 8 hours of relief where the older formula had lasted longer and stronger. This new formula also takes 45 minutes to get going even on empty stomach. but it does work on the pain once it kicks in. im waiting now as i just took my oxycontin about 14 minutes ago and beginning to lose my vision(thats the first sign for me is i get tunnel vision and itching) but just saying, i was on oc formula 12 years and been on this formula 2 months so i dont like it alot but as im getting used to the pills and how they work best,etc, ive learned to still prefer oxycodone over dilaudid for my pain...period. dilaudid is weird, it takes a while to come on and makes me...

Fibro, CFS, osteo, haven't been able to get relief since they took Darvocet off market. Was on time release morphine for 2-3 years this worked. Take gabapentin 400mg am & pm. Obviously not working. Elavil 50 mg nite. Do acupuncture, chiropractor helps. If I'm active then I nose dive it immense pain. Epsom salts bath helps. I am on oxycontin 40 mg every 12 hours and 30 mg oxycodone every 4 hours as needed. Recently dilaudid showed up in my urine test and I was thrown out of the pain clinic. They refuse to discuss the lab results with me just told me to leave. I'm 62 years old and not a stupid person. I know I'm drug tested not even sure what dilaudid is. Now I'm going through horrible withdrawal after 6-7 years on pain meds. Panicking because I feel like I'm going to die. The pain is coming back and I'm going to be back in a wheelchair suffering and my life will be over. I never took anything but what they gave me. How many should i take if I was previously prescribed 40 mg of oxycodone? (never taken these before, so need help!) ## Has your doctor provided a dosing schedule? if so, it is safest to follow their instructions. As to answering your question, I cannot get the correct information without knowing why type of Oxycodone you were taking and how often your dosage was. If it's just a broad, general test, then it would just show the presence of opiates. However, if they do more precise testing, then they can detect the exact ones you took and even the levels of them, to see if you were abusing the medications you're prescribed by taking more or adding in anything you aren't supposed to be taking. I have a severe back injury and have been taking long and fast acting Oxycodone and Opana. When I was no longer able to get the Oxy's I was switched to Dilaudid and then when the Opana was stopped because it was stated that they took it off the market to reformulate it I was switched to Oxycontin and Dilaudid and then when the Dialudid was no longer available I was switched to Morhphine. Now I cannot get anything but for some reason they can fill the scripts for Hospice next door because I overheard the pharmacist talking about it. I like others depend on this medication to live somewhat of a normal life.
