Hydrochlorathiazide

Found some Mylan 810 (12.5 hydrochlorathiazide in my travel bag and am asking what the shelf life is. Last time I traveled was at least 5 years ago. ## They have probably lost quite a bit of potency by now, though they do not get dangerous, once they are past the expiration date. However, they will not be as effective as they were years ago. If they were in a pharmacy dispensed bottle, the expiration date would be one year from the date it was filled, since that's when they are exposed to heat, light and other elements that cause degradation. If they were in a factory sealed bottle, the shelf life is about 3 years, so they still would have expired about 2 years ago. I took Diovan brand 320-12.5mg for a very long time. The generic became available. I have a history of reacting to drugs and wanted to stay with the Sandoz which I've been told is a generic to Diovan and Sandoz company is the generic company of Novartis who originally made Diovan brand. By hopping from one drug store to another I found Valsartan Hydrochlorathiazide tablets 320-12.5 mg marked identical to the brand drug with the HIL and NVR on the pink oval pill. I paid generic price. Soon pharmacy ran out and told me they would not be getting anymore Sandoz Valsartan HCTZ 320-12.5mg. I was told to go to other pharmacies and maybe they would have some on their shelf. I did, I even went out of state and was able to buy 90 days but was told that's it, no more will be available. I was taking amlodipine 5mg+metoprolol 50mg in the morning and ramipril 5mg in the evening. the heart rate dropped to 52-55/min. I have reduced metroprolol to 25mg since last 5 days. The BP is average 130/85 and heart rate is 58-62. Will it longer to stabilize and heart rate to increase further? Does the present combination of amlodipine 5mg+ metoprolol 25mg in the morning and ramipril 5mg in the evening have any serious side effects?
