Hydro Codeine

I am allergic to morphine, Demerol and codeine. I itched all over my head and ears when taking a hydrocodone/acetemetephine yesterday. Am I allergic to hydro now? ## Hello, Carol! How are you doing? Has there been any change? It is common for someone that's allergic to one medication to discover the are also allergic to others, according to reports by the FDA. Thus, it would be best to have this checked out, those could be symptoms of an allergic reaction, and if they are, they could get worse with repeated exposure, according to NIH studies. Is there anything else I can help with?

Hi can I take Hydrocodone5mg/325 when i am allergic to codeine isn't Hydrocodone5mg/325 from the same family as Codeine because Codeine itches me.my Doctor gave me this for menstrual cramps, because she took me off 50mg Indomethian due to Kidney problems.I am afraid to take the Hydrocodone 5mg/325 cause i am afraid it will itch me what can I take is these medications the same or not. ## Yes, they are distantly related, but not the exact same substance. The itchiness, however, can be a normal side effect that some people experience from narcotics and the only way to see if this one affects you in the same manner is by actually trying it. Did you discuss your concerns with your doctor?

I have taken Tylenol 3 with codeine in it recently and I did get very nauseous and of tiny rash and when I went to get my root canal recently my doctor told me he couldn't prescribe me hydrocodone because it was the same thing I have been prescribed hydrocodone from the hospital due to my kidney stones and I've had no problem but he told me that he could not give me anything else but Tramadol since I'm allergic to codeine is that true ## Hello, Michelle123! How are you? No, that is not true, there are others you can try. They are all narcotic opiates, but they are different. The FDA warns that these medications carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, drowsiness, dry mouth, and constipation. Have you tried Tramado...

I have ALLERGY to codeine all I want to know is Hydrocodone/Acetaminophen 5-325 TB have codeine in this yes or no plkeasae ## Hello, Shirley! How are you? No, the active ingredients are exactly what you listed, Hydrocodone with Acetaminophen. According to the FDA, this is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. There is a slight chance that you could also have an allergic reaction to another narcotic, but there's no way to know other than trying it. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Yes hydrocodone has codeine in it, if you're allergic to codeine I would refrain from using this opiate ## shirley schaschl, it is always best to discuss drug allergies wi...

I have chronic spine and hip pain from scoliosis and fibromyalgia. I took Vicodin for several years back when it did not have a generic and it did a good job for pain relief. The generic, Hydrocodone, supposedly has the same exact ingredient of codeine in the 5-300 cap, but does not give me pain relief. Do you think if I switched to Tylenol #3, which does NOT have a generic, that it's level of codeine would work better for pain relief? I am now very suspicious of generics! ## Hi Dane, RE: "What is the real amount of Codeine in Vicodin vs. Hydrocodone?" - This question actually doesn't make sense, because neither Vicodin nor Hydrocodone contain Codeine... Vicodin contains a combination of Hydrocodone + Acetaminophen (Tylenol). Tylenol #3 contains a combination of Codeine ...

My son is allergic to both of these meds and he has been prescribed Tramadol for pain. I am unable to find if this drug is related to either and what to look for. ## Hello, Mari! How is your son? No, Tramadol is actually only very distantly related to narcotics, it isn't even really considered to be one. But you should double check the information to be certain. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Trammodol is an opiate. I too am allergic ## Doctor: uh man I guess we have no choice but to give him oxycontin or dilaudid. I'm guessing he's allergic to nsaids too. ## Verwon: Tramadol (Ultram) is an OPIOID...

Which is better for pain? Tramadol, Hydrocodone apap 5 325, or Tylenol 3? I am on blood thinners ## Tramadol is stronger. I'd research about the blood thinners. Might help to know that Tramadol is relatively new on the market, researchers might not have all of the facts. Ten years ago, the word was that it was NOT addictive. Now we know that it is Still, it is a nice, less ominous, alternative to narcotics. ## Hello, Shelby! How are you? In order of strength and efficacy… Tylenol 3 is the mildest you've listed, then Tramadol, and the strongest is the Hydrocodone/APAP. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. 300-30mg acetaminophen code in vs 5-325mg hydrocodone with acetaminophen no story please just need to know which is stronger, thank you! ## Hello, Cynthia! How are you? I'm happy to help you with this question. Compared to the opiates that were derived much later, Codeine is very mild. For example, according to the opioid converter provided by Global, it takes 33.33mgs of Codeine to be equivalent to each 5mgs of Hydrocodone. Thus, while it may not look like it, if you go by the dosage numbers, Hydrocodone is actually much stronger than Codeine. The FDA classifies these medications as narcotic analgesics, so they carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. I've took Cheratussin AC, M-End DM, neither even touches my cough, it's been going on for over a month and a half now! My question is whats a good cough medicine that will work? I also am prescribed 10/325 Lortab. So if there was a good cough syrup that would work if it had hydro in it, would I be able to be prescribed it since Im on Lortabs? Besides the hydro cough syrups that are available, Ive heard M-End WC works well, along w/Promethazine/Codeine. Which is better? Any help would be appreciated as my nurse is calling me at 8:00am this morning to see which I think will work for me. ## Hello, Cassie! How are you? What did you deduce to try? I have two different drugs given for two different dental surgeries. The first one, the 7.5-300 says to take every 6-8 hours so I thought it was the stronger of the two. The other one says to take every 4-6 hours. Which of these drugs is really stronger? I want to take the stronger one at night so I can sleep and the weaker one during the day so I can be more alert. ## Hello, Sharon! How are you? I'm happy to help you with this. The one with the Hydrocodone in it is stronger, Codeine is actually weak comparatively. It's 30mgs in the one is only equivalent to 4.5mgs of the Hydrocodone. Is it ok to alternate between these 2 meds during the day... hydrocodone/acetaminophen 10/325 and acetaminophen/codeine #4? ## You can do so, if your doctor approves, but you will not get anywhere near the relief from Codeine that you will from the Hydrocodone, since it is a much milder narcotic. The FDA warns that these medications carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. Norco is the brand name by Watson for 10mg Hydrocodone and 325mg of acetaminophen, they also make the generic. Norco is yellow in color and caplet shaped.Originally it was only 10mg, now it's 7.5 and 5, hydrocodone and the same Tylenol in all. Has no codiene in it. Hydrocodone is a semi synthetic drug, a ketone of codeine and is 8 times stronger than codiene, mg to mg.has a more sedative effect and has a half life of 3.8 hrs compared to codiene's 2.5 hrs. ## I've been taking Norco, 10-325, for over fifteen years on an occasional basis because of back pain due to auto accidents, surgeries. I take the same ammount now as fifteen years ago. I alternate between Norco, and Tylenol - also on an occasional basis, so I don't develop a tolerance to N. and have to increase the dos...

how this compare to hydrcodone ## Hello, Janis! How are you? Codeine is actually much weaker, each of these tablets is equivalent to about 5mgs of Hydrocodone. I have been taking Hydrocodone 10 since March for RSD the doctor changed me this week to Acetaminophen/cod3. The doctor said that the law made it where he can not give the hydrocodone any more. I want to know if they are the same? I was told they are the same. I'm scared to take it because I have sleep apnea and a real sensitivity to codone. I get breathing problems and rashes. Not sure what to do at this point. I can not take most opioid drugs. ## Hydrocodone is an opiate. Tylenol #3 has 30 mg Codiene and 325 mg Tylenol. Tylenol # 3 is not as strong as hydrocodone. Your dr can still write rxs for hydrocodone if he is writting you a rx for Tylenol #3.
