will crushing the pill give me better relief? ## ER pills are not to be crushed ## Crushing them is a very dangerous practice, you could get too much of the narcotic at once and overdose yourself. These are time released for a reason. If you are having trouble with adequate pain relief, then please speak to your doctor. I was on these for several years for pain management and they are a very strong medication. I do have to say, however, there are some types of pain that they should not be used for, what condition are you taking them for? ## If you are taking an antibiotic for Azitmonuycin can you crush them & drink with juice ?

My Dr prescribed me Hydrocodone 10 mg/650 every 6 hrs for break through pain. my mother got her medcine and old medcine mixed up ## If your pill has the imprint E655 on front and 60 on back you have Morphine Extended Release 60mg. This is a very, very powerfull narcotic pain med. If you do not have a tolerance to this amount of morphine, you can easily OD and well to be blunt DIE. ## does this pill have an M inside of a box on one side of it and a #30 on the other side of the pill? I found a pill that looks like this and someone told me it was a 30mg morphine tablet. ## The message above was an error. It has a 60 on the other side of it, not a 30. round,peach/orange...60mg, morphine sulfate...the other side has an m encircled with a square box ## these make me vomit about 2 hours after I ingest them sooner if I have food in my stomach> Is there anything I can take to stop this like prilosec ## Prilosec will usually not help prevent the nausea caused by narcotic pain medications. You need something that can actually help with nausea, such as something containing Diphenhydramine. I don't suggest using anything, though, without consulting with your doctor or pharmacist first, as certain medications may react badly with Morphine and/or enhance the side effects. Morphine is a very strong narcotic pain reliever. Along with the nausea, some of the other common side effects include: drowsiness, dry mouth, constipation and dizzine...

I have been using ER 60 mg morphine sulfate x 2 daily with other meds. No one has this medicine in Tampa area and being legally blind I have no way to go to 50 pharmacies to locate because they won't tell you on the phone. Is there something equal that I can get my Dr to RX? I am running out of other medicines, need help. ## Have you ever tried Oxycontin? It's a time released formulation of Oxycodone, which is a very potent narcotic and it's also stronger than the Morphine, so you'd even require a lower dose, you'd only need 40mgs of it to equal each 60mg dosage of Morphine. Learn more Oxycodone details here. Since it is also a narcotic, it may be habit forming and can cause similar side effects to those of the Morphine, which may include nausea, dizziness, dry mouth...

I have been taking 60mg morphine sulfate er for 10 plus years with 30mg oxycodone for breakthrough pain relief. A friend of mine who also has severe pain is on fentynal patches and I was wondering which one is better? What I am taking now is beginning to not work as well as it use to. Help! ## Fentanyl is the most potent opiate available, it is over 81 times stronger than Morphine. The FDA warns that it carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, drowsiness, dry mouth, and constipation. However, it depends on which medication works best for you and what your doctor feels is safe for you to try. Are these the only medications you are currently taking? ## Fentanyl 100mcg along with 30mg roxicodone 4 x per day works well. Everybo...

I have piroformis disease/ sciatica. I've been having problems with my lower back for about a year. Herniated disc L4/L5. Before the sciatica, I went to the ortho and he gave me tramadol which did nothing... So my primary doctor gave me hydro 7.5 #20 as needed since I was in a second car accident (back pains started from first accident)... The night of the doctor visit is when the sciatic nerve started to cause pain. I went to the ER because I have sharp pains in both buttocks, and all down my left leg. Both feet are numb and I can not move my toes. I went to the ER. They gave me a shot of morphine, which knocked down my pain level from a 10 to a 3. They prescribed me Tylenol w/ codiene 300-60mg. I haven't got it filled because it's a Sunday. When I go back to the doctor tom...

What is equal in mgs? I have been prescribed a 60 mg. of OxyCotin ER. Now the dr. is suggesting I use 30 mgs. of Morphine Sul ER. Can you give me the mgs. that equals the 60 mg.OxyCotin ER . What would the mg. difference be to get the same pain relieving results? It's not the dr.; it's the drug plan I have that is now demanding this be changed. Awaiting your comments! Eva ## Hello, Eva! How are you? Oxycodone is one and a half times stronger than Morphine, so you'd actually need 90mgs of the Morphine to equal the same analgesic effect of 60mgs of Oxycontin. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## is there ...

I have been taking morphine 60mg er for 5 yrs. Will buprenorphine be able to handle my neuropothy because 180mg of morphine & 12mg Dilaudid doesn't touch the pain I'm in? I'm no addict I feel no euphoria from these drugs. I hate taking them. I'm just scared buprenorphine wont be able to touch my pain I'm ready to cut my feet off its like walking on burning coal 24/7/365. Any info would be very helpful. Thanks ## For me dilaudid was ( I'm not taking now) only thing that gave me any quality of life and could still work with my nerve pain, but everyone is different, they have bucca films now that supposedly is strong enough to help with cancer pain, problem for me was I had other seriously legitimate and proven painful things happen and it was not good I had bee...

Is 60 Mgs ER MORPHINE twice daily with three 15 mg breakthrough stronger than 45mg of METHADONE ## Hi Debbie, There really isn't a simple yes or no answer for this type of question, so please correct me if I'm wrong in interpreting this information from an opioid conversion chart linked below (under 'Appendix 1'). According to this chart, 120mgs of Morphine ER is said to be equivalent to 48mg of Methadone? If this holds true, that would mean 60mgs of Morphine ER is equal to 24mg of Methadone. ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1163279 One other important thing to take into account aside from this, is that there are various types of clinical considerations that may affect the translation or conversion of drug equivalencies to & from Methadone (such as a weaker generic, ...

The above medicine was recently changed from OxyContin 40mg CR to Morphine Sul Tab 30 MG ER due to Insurance not covering the OxyContin. when I went for a refill after hospital discharge medication ran out! The Morphine Sul Tab is not even coming close to relieving the pain from surgery. Is there a similar medication that is close to OxyContin that will control the pain!! ## Hello, Sandy! How are you? I'm very sorry that you're in pain. No, they have you on too low of a dose of the Morphine. Oxycontin is one and a half times stronger, so you'd need 60mgs of Morphine for each 40mgs of Oxycontin that you were taking. The FDA classifies these medications as being narcotic analgesics, so they carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizzi...

I'm going to make this very clear - do not take suboxone until you're feeling every one of the withdrawal symptoms. My husband and I have been prescribed opiates for almost ten years w/ morphine er 60mg 2*per day each for 4 years but I wish the dr n pharmacy would have been more demanding and stress to wait til you're in full wd before taking subs and they didn't say at all that morphine is the worst cuz it binds to your receptors long-term. So just to warn anybody that is going to transition from morphine to suboxone 8mg strips' I strongly urge you to wait til u feel every symptom cuz it put us in full wd within 30 min and we waited 24hrs before taking one strip!! Omfg......Thank god we had each other. So another thing I really strongly suggest is that you have some...

1pill-2x daily 30mg ms contin & 4-10mg oxycodon is that better than 1new oc (op)30mg 2x daily &4-10mg oxycodone what is better ## The Oxycodone in the Oxycontin is stronger than the Morphine that's in MS Contin, by one and a half times, so it generally requires a lower dosage to achieve the same analgesic effect. Learn more Oxycontin details here. However, what's really of relevance here is discovering what works best for you. If you've been taking the MS Contin with good results, then there's no reason to switch, unless your doctor insists otherwise. How long have you been taking it? I HAVE BEEN TAKING 15 MG OF OXYCODONE...1TAB 4XDAY. FOR 2 YRS. DR. CHANGED RX TO MS CONTIN 30MG....1TAB EVERY12 HRS. WONDER WHY? WONDER WHY? ## My guess would be there really is no change, execpt for how many times you take it. Your mg add up to 60, even though your doctor changed your dosage. If you feel concerned I would notify your doctor. Do you have any more questions or information to add? Please post back if you do. ## Ms Cotin is a different drug(morphine). MS Cotin would be controled release oxycodone. ## I am on ms contin 60mg ea 12 hrs as it's an er ( extended relief) med. It is also stronger than the oxy. It works as a slow time release thru out the day. If it's not working U can ask him 4 the oxy w/ it 4 breakthru pain. They can & should give both. I take diaudi...

I take 2 60 mg morphine sulfate er 3 times a day. What would be the equivalent for IV usage. I will have a 3 port chest cath shortly and was wondering if IV pain medication would control pain better and if so at what dosage to achieve the same effect as what I am taking or even slightly stronger. ## Each 60mg oral dosage is equivalent to about 24mgs via IV, but you will not get the same time release as you do from the oral, so your doctor may need to adjust your dosage, and administration of it, accordingly. The FDA warns that Morphine carries the risk of being habit forming, and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, constipation, and headache. The pain control can be better for some people, via IV, but not everyone responds well to it. The only thing you can do ...

My medicine has been changed from oxycodone 30 mg with opana 60mg to the oxy 30 with morpine sul 30 mg er** I was wondering will it work as well? ## Oxymorphone / Opana is quite a bit stronger than morphine, so unless your taking alot more morphine pills I can't see how it can. But maybe you will have a good reaction to it. Good luck! ## I agree with Denzidrine, in that every medication can effect each person differently; so the only way to find out is to actually try it and see how it works for you in comparison to what you're used to taking. Keep in mind though that the inactive ingredients in each tablet also play a significant role in how you react to the medication. My insurance company did not give me a choice recently so my dr. & I had to make different optons for my PM. I was on: Oxycotin CR 60 mg. twice a day along with ~ up to 4 percecot daily, which was: 10/325 mg. Now, I've had to change to: Taking 3 Morphine Sul ER 30 mgs. with still taking up to 4 percecot daily. How does this compare? I'm still having more pain with this newly issue. Should I be taking a stronger mg of the Morphinr Sul. I thought this was a much weaker strength than the Oxycotin cr. Can you explain this to me? Thank you in advance, Eva ## Hello, Eva! How are you?
