At 4pm and gets another one thru. Is this right and this is the only pain meds he on other than clonazepam 1mg. So is this right? Just wondering cause he stays in pain. ## Hello, Brandy! How is your dad doing? Yes, 72 hours is the normal dosing duration, though if necessary it can be changed every 48 hours. They can also raise the dosage, if necessary. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. However, given his condition, they may reluctant to ...

I am new to fentanyl treatment but no stranger to narcotic treatment for severe sciatica in my left leg. I was prescribed the 12.5mcg and the pharmacy gave me the Mylan 12mcg. My first patch didn't do anything for over 6 hrs. so I put another one on. Took a hot shower, went to bed and woke up the next morning pain free for the first time in a VERY long time. Since I was only given 5 patches to last me 2 weeks, I was wondering how long they really last. I've heard that there's actually enough fentanyl in each patch to last 7 days. Is this really ture?? ## Hello, Dewy5150! How are you? You really shouldn't take a hot shower or be exposed to much heat, while wearing the patch, it tends to make it release faster, which could result in overdose. The FDA classifies this medica...

I took two 5.7/1.4 zubsolvs yesterday morning at about ten o'clock. How long will that block the therapeutic effects of opana for?? ## Iv only taken 1 zubsolv yesterday afternoon it is now 18hrs later, will I feel a fentanyl! ## I took one zubsolv at 9am. How long tell the blocker is gone? It's the only one I have ever took. Help would truly be appreciated ## Ive heard 24 to 48 hours but u should ask a medical prof to be safe. ## I concur with Jen in that 24-48hrs is a general estimated time frame that patients would typically wait for; albeit this window of time may vary for each individual depending upon a variety of factors. If you browse through some of the related discussion threads here pertaining to Suboxone (i.e. Zubsolv's twin) people tend to follow the same inheren...

I am currently on a Mylan Fentanyl patch 50mcg/hr. I was on 75mcg patch which worked well with my pain but the patches dont last 48 hours. After about 30-36 hours I start having major withdrawel symptoms and pain. I had these withdrawels with both doses of the fentanyl patches. My dr dropped my down to 50mcg to see if it would help but it does'nt. I have some Dilaudid for breakthrough pain but it does'nt work at all for pain or withdrawel syptoms. The dilaudid is basically useless to me. Has anyone had a Mylan Fentanyl patch thats doing this?? I saw my dr today and he's considering taking me off the patches and back to the pills again. This really sucks. The patches have worked well for about 10 months now. ## Very sorry for what you are going through. It is possible that yo...

I have stopped taking perc 5mg on Sunday still feeling a little funny how much longer will this last??? ## It really depends on how long you were taking it and how much you were taking regularly. It could take anywhere from a few days to about 2 weeks. This is classified by the FDA as a narcotic, so it carries the risk of being habit forming and withdrawal effects, if you stop taking it suddenly are normal and may include nausea, headache, rebound pain, diarrhea and dizziness. Are you feeling any better, yet? ## Withdrawal from Percocets, tramadol, darvon, etc... will make you go through tremendous pain if it was used for pain. Nausea, hot and cold spells are expected but I believe you feel crummy for 3 days but can still function. People who withdraw off of morphine, fentanyl, and othe...

i have been on fentanyl 25mcg for about a yr. i am decreasing to 12.5 mcg for a week and then no more patches after. how long will it take to considering the info. will it take for the withdrawal to start and stop. i understand everyone is different. i will be taking valium 5mg for a couple days to ease the effects. any info would be great. ## Yes, everyone is different, so it really makes it hard to say, because it is going to vary. I stopped heavy doses of Oxycodone and Morphine cold turkey, after being on them for about 6 or 7 years for pain management and my withdrawal symptoms lasted for about a month. Hopefully the Valium will help. Has your doctor given you any other advice? ## Thanks for ur info. Several yrs ago I stopped fiorcet w codeine (on it for 4 yrs) and it took about tha...

Should a 12mcg/hr Fentanyl patch last longer than 6-7 hrs? I'm on a patch and it doesn't seem to work. ## Yes, they usually last about 72 hours, according to FDA reports, though some people with very severe pain change them every 48 hours. The NIH warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth. How long have you been using it? Are you on any other medications?

I'm a severe chronic back pain sufferer & this is my first time taking abg 15mg morphine. I've been on fentanyl, oxycodone, etc. Is this pill effective & how long does it last & how rapidly does it take effect. ## This is a time released tablet, so it lasts about 12 hours and will start to take affect about 15 to 20 minutes after taking it. This medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with?

Ok..so I've been on Suboxone 8mg strips for 2 years. However, I've been only taking 4mg a day starting a week ago and have only taken 1mg the past 2 days. I have a fentanyl patch because, frankly, I'm tired of suffering with my ungodly back pain. My question is probably predictable, but given the low doses I've taken, if I use the patch tomorrow morning, will I feel the effect? If I do use it, tomorrow morning will be 24 hrs since my last dose of 1mg suboxone. ## Generally, it takes 72 hours for the Naloxone in the Suboxone to process, before you can take other opiates and have them be effective, unless your doctor instructs you otherwise. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, s...

Call your doctor now ## Take it from me if you double up on the fentyln patch without letting them take you up they will say you did it by yourself and let you go.I went to my pain ct. today and where I have been on the run from late last month I was in so much pain I had to take a few extra perocet which was a generic with ipo with a slash in the middle of it and it was not controlling my pain.I was doing back to back drs. appts plus doing mammagram where I have cancer in my lung breast and have lung cancer plus two failed back surgeries and beca...

i have had 2hrs sleep in 2 days have been on fentanyl patch 2mg for 8mths and have none left and cannot get in to docs til 1st feb have had chronic back and neck spasms cramps twitches and sneezing nearly all the symtoms they decsribe how long does this take to get out of the systom doc never said this would happen at my wits end thanx ## Hate to tell you Elle, but you are in for a ride. W/D symptoms of Fenanyl can last for weeks. Are you having a problem with keeping them on, have they been falling off, is that why you are running short. There are bio-oclusive bandages named Tegaderm or Opsite you can place over the patch that will keep it on. I have never heard of a 2mg patch. Are you sure? They come in 25mcg,50mcg,75mcg,12.5mcg and 100mcg. This amounts are released per hour so I gues...

I take 50mcg/h patches I was amazed out how well they worked (Cancer) I have been on Fentanyl for 5 months the first patches hardly worked from a generic company Sadoz. It felt like I was just putting a piece of scotch tape on myself I told my Dr and he explained some story about the drug companies are removing the gel and made this new format (so i have to suffer because he said people were able to get the gel out of the patches?. I filled my last 2 prescriptions at walgreens and they had your brand I was out of pain within a half hour -Are you switching to these flat patches? and if so PLEASE help me find a company that will still carry them !!! ## this site does not manufacture, nor sell any medications, this is an information only website, therefore this site is not switching anythin...

Im on morphine 20ml daily and fentonyl patches 100mg every 3 days I ran out of my pain relief last week n used subutex today. My script is due tomorrow is it safe to take without being in agony??? ## My advice - I currently have a very low tolerance and applied a 100 mcg patch 10 hrs ago. I stopped a 180 mg daily oxy habit of 3 years 2/14. Since 2/14 until now my opiate usage would be 5 30 mg oxy's monthly typically - I've used maybe 25 mcg orally 3 times in the past 5 months and 60 mg morphine plugged a couple times. I have also used subutex a few times I no longer experience opiate w/d and a dose of 30 mg oxy leaves me extremely buzzed for a good 12 hrs. That being said, I rec'd a 100 mcg patch today to help me with extreme back pain for the next 4 days. I was nervous to w...

I've been using the fentanyl patches for 4yrs now. Mostly Mylan brand (best out there). But the pharmacy switched to watson brand because of cheaper price. Here's the problem, for the last 5 months 6 patches out of 15 per month don't stick. They fall off within a couple of hours. Do you recommend some kind of cover tape that I can use? Because of the problems with these products I'm losing a lot of $$$. PLEASE HELP!!! Can someone please get back to me about this. Thanks for your time. ## Hello, Shawn! How are you? There is a cover tape available for them, most pharmacies carry it, so you may want to talk to your pharmacist about the problem. I have been on Fentanyl for pain of cancer treatment side effects & have been reducing from 400mc & down to 25 mc without any side effects. After 48 hours of last dose I have been having involuntary leg movements, first on left for 12 hours. Had a little relief and upon eating and taking normal medication, I began vomiting and got involuntary leg movements on right side. Are these withdrawal symptoms? Do I need to go in to a doctor? I have no small dose of Fentanyl left to take. Only 100 mcg doses. ## Have you consulted your doctor, yet? Those can be withdrawal symptoms, but it is always best to check with your doctor to be sure. In addition, they may be able to advise you on how to alleviate them, until the medication has fully processed out of your body. ## these are almost de...

I dont want them in the junk- or clogging the toilet... It sounds easy to do but how to get rid of a lot of them without people noticing I have them possibly?? ## Dear Aeon, u can bring them 2 a pharmacy and they will get rid of them 4 u. It's supposed 2 be private, where they ask no questions. ## I thought about that though last time I was at the pharmacy they had pamphlets for a day that everyone can bring their unused or expired Meds to some clinic- if you could just bring them to the pharmacy, why would they organize a day that you could do this? ## You can take them to your pharmacy any day and they will dispose of them for you. It doesn't have to be during a special organized event. Is there anything else I can help with? This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potenti...

Hi, my name is Rebecca. I have been using opiates for about 3 years now, but I've only been addicted to opiates for a year now. I say opiates but I go back and forth between opiates and suboxone. For the past year I have been using suboxone almost everyday(supplied by boyfriend) and he does it too. Last week my boyfriend and I went through a nasty breakup and he hasn't been giving me anymore suboxone or using it himself either. We were together 5 years and were happy(I'm absolutely devastated.) snd we also LIVE TOGETHER. however, I could go on about what's been going on in the relationship and how upset I have been, and him just going out and partying like nothing happened, but that's not why I'm typing this. So back to last week, we broke up and quit taking subo...

I was on 75mcg since about March of 2013 for a comp injury. It was a game changer b/c it allowed me to walk again, pain free. But, in the end it became a necessary evil. Drs wouldn't touch me b/c I was on it. No pain control after surgeries, etc. I've wanted off of it for some time and finally started a taper a few months back under the supervision of a pharmacist and doctor. The plan was to taper me down a little then switch me to the Butrans patch. HOWEVER, due to comp/insurance issues, I was forced to STOP it completely at a 50 mcg as of Friday, tho I was given Norco to take the edge off. Night before last was the worst. My body wouldn't "settle down", if you will, but there wasn't a damn thing I could do about it. I also had a new type of pain in my hands/cal...
