I was diagnoised with hypothyroidism last December and was put on Levothyroxine (75mcg). Overall I have been feeling better and have more energy. But unlike most other people with underactive thyroids I was not overweight and since going on Levothyroxine have lost 10 pounds and am continuing to lose weight. I also have developed hoarseness which gets worse as the day goes on. Question-the weight loss is a common side effect of the medication-but has anyone heard of hoarseness? My thyroid levels were tested a few weeks ago and are now normal. ## Yes, I have noticed sore throat and hoarseness also on generic levothyroxine 75mcg. I finally tried not taking it for a couple of days and the sore throat and hoarseness went away. Started taking it again and voila, the sore throat and hoarseness...

My brother in law has had triple bypass surgery a year ago. Now he's having issues and the diagnostics don't show another blockage... says the bypasses are in good shape but he has a small hole in an artery close to his heart. They sent him home on Isosorbide MN ER30. He's having terrible headaches which I understand are a side effect. But, I can't find anything that says this will help the hole in the artery. How will this help? ## Hello, Abby! How are you? According the FDA, Isosorbide is a nitrate, so it dilates blood vessels, making it easier for blood to flow, so the heart doesn't have to work as hard. With such a defect, maintaining proper heart function is a priority, because if his heart got sluggish, so to speak, the platelets could kind of amass at a proble...

The smell of Homatropine is so bad my dog coughs from it. Why would it be included in a Hydrocodone syrup for my dog's collapsing heart condition and heart mural valve problem? ## There is a cough syrup, called “Hycodan” that is prescribed for bronchitis, pneumonia and the like for severe coughing.. it’s only two ingredients or hydrocodone and homatropine. One teaspoon is equivalent to one 5mg Vicodin, or more known now as Norco. The difference being is that there’s no acetaminophen in the liquid versus the pill.. I know allot about this because I have C.O.P.D. from childhood asthma.. There’s even a pill form of the “Hycodan Syrup” (Well there was a pill form 25 years ago so I’m assuming that it’s still on the market however I do...

My home was broken in my rings check book and medicine all gone. I'm on nerve medicine and pain medicine. I made a police report right as I saw my back door chain broken and windows were open. I'm in a lot of pain and I'm afraid to ask for a small amount back. I'm very seriously sick. Don't care or want any problems with my doctor. This has never happened to me. ## Dear worried, Sorry to hear about what you're going through with this! Is your doctor an understanding person? I really think you should take the police report with you into their office and explain what happened because the truth is the truth. Some docs are unwilling to write an early refill for a stolen prescription but I think this is your best bet at this point. Best wishes and please keep me poste...

Home remedies for heartburn and indegestion? I have heartburn so bad and all stores are closed around me, I need to know some home remedies to help? ## Hello, Daina! How are you? Has it eased up, yet? A common household remedy is baking soda, the instructions for it are usually right on the box, when you buy it. If you get heartburn frequently, you should speak to your doctor about what you can do about it. You may need to take a medication for it, or change your eating habits to avoid triggers. There are some risks that can be associated with letting it continue, such as ulcers or esophageal cancer.
