It is used to treat or prevent vitamin deficiency due to poor diet, certain illnesses, or during pregnancy. I believe most multivitamins are available OTC unless they contain some sort of additional ingredient that has to be given in controlled dosages. I hope this helps!

It is just a nutritional supplement and they are often given to pregnant women to ensure that they are getting enough nutrients for both themselves and the baby. Thus, there shouldn't be any harm in it, as long as you don't exceed the recommended dosage amount and your doctor has approved of your taking them. ## I have been taking calcivita tablets with vitamin A and vitamin D3. Helo doctor .. i m suffering from hair loss from about last 2 -3 months .. and may be this due to chemicaly treated hair as i hav done coloring and rebonding many times . Elderly person needs vitamin with following ingredients: Vit. D 400mg, Folic acid 400 mcg., Biotin 300 mcg., Vit. B-12 1,000 mcg., Vit. B-6 100 mg., Selenium 100 mcg., Calcium + D 1,200 mg., Iron 250 mcg., and Vit. C 3,000 mg. Is there any one tablet that comes close to providing these nutrients in these proportions? ## Since most vitamins are over the counter products, there isn't a database that lists all of them and their ingredients. If your doctor prescribed it to you then there is probably a good reason since it seems more potent than a multivitamin such as Centrum which you can get at the grocery store.

Can I take 500mg vitamin B12 tablets for a month straight? On one tablet a day, I had a low level of vitamin B12 due to poor absorption. My current level of B12 is around 350 but I still experience numbness in my hands when I sleep on my sides. So I cant sleep on my side. I also tend to forget things sometimes. ## What has your doctor advised? 350 is considered to be in the normal range, which goes from 200 to 900.
