I. need a pain dr that will prescribe pain medication without insurance. I had been going to a pain dr for 6 years because of severe back pain. I have degenerative disk disease, building disk & in alot of pain. I had insurance but lost it due to divorce..I live in Gadsden, Al & can only pay cash to go to A dr. I recently moved to Gadsden area and I am looking for a good PCP that is not judgmental and/or a psychiatrist that is not afraid to right scripts to treat anxiety and ADHD. My previous PCP managed my symptoms with Xanax, Adderall and Oxycodone but from what I have heard most docs in AL do not write meds to help and send you to all kinds of specialist. If anyone has recommendations of doctors in AL please let me know. If it is a sincere doctor I would drive as far as Huntsville, Guntersville or even Birmingham. Does anyone have recommendations of any doctors who will actually manage your pain in North Alabama (Gadsden to Huntsville area)? I have been on pain management for greater than 10 years, always been compliant with my treatment plan, never failed a drug panel, have LOTS of documentation showing my problems but yet NO ONE wants to truly manage my pain. In the past it seems as if I am placed on a regimen that finally works then all the sudden the MD or NP says that due to DEA they can no longer prescribe meds as I have been taking (that they started me on mind you) and they drop my doses drastically??? During the 10+ years I have only saw 2 pain management MD's so I do not doctor shop, etc..after a significant cut (3 -60mg Oxycontin's, 3 -30mg Roxicodone PRN BTP, Soma PRN to 2 - 6...

why is it so hard to get oxycodon when this is what you have been taking for 3 years. I am on 30mg twice a day but moved close to Gadsden Alabama and can't find a doctor that will even help get me what I need.
