Hi there How are you? I have been experiencing heart palpitations. After ECG doctors said I have a constant fast heart rate. They prescribed pur-bloka 10mg 3x per day as a temporary thing. They said I might not have to use it permanently, but atleast for the next month or so and then we'll wean off. I am quite scared to use them. Should I be weary? Why is Pur bloka being used in the treatment of migraine and Anachroid cyst? ## Pur-Bloka contains the active ingredient propranolol hydrochloride, in doses of 10 or 40mg tablets. Propranolol Hydrochloride's principal effect is to reduce the response of the heart to stress and exercise and it reduces blood pressure in patients with hypertension. The indications for this drug however, have no apparent relation to Arachnoid cysts or migraine headaches. The only conclusion I can reach is that Propranolol may help with specific symptoms or your body's response to such conditions; possibly allowing your body to relax when either of these conditions could make someone restless with insomnia. i am a 62 year old lady is this safe for me to use for heart palpitations as these palpitations are getting bad and i really don't want to see a doctor as i don't have medical aid ## I take a half of purbloka 40mg for anxiety/palpitations when needed. If the tablets were prescribed for you there should be no problem. If not please go see a Dr.

I am taking adco bisocor 5mg for high blood pressure. I now have palpitations and my doctor has given me pur-bloka for it. I would like to know if these two drugs are compatible? ## Hello, Morag! They gave no reason for the shortage, but a pharmacist told me that it has to do with the availability of the Propranalol molecules. You can try Inderal. Hi. Mr Doctor has prescribed Pur-bloka 20mg twice Daily to slow down my heart rate, which it has done but I find my BP dropping too low too even without taking the 6mg Carloc. And overdose may cause symptoms such as severe nausea, extreme dizziness, fainting, shallow breathing, lowered heart rate, all of which could potentially be fatal. Do you know someone that overdosed? ## I took full pill a day an I am supposed to take half ## Just FYI Propranolol is NOT what Michael Jackson overdosed on, it was Propofol and a mixture of Ativan and Dilaudid. I didn't find any problems or interactions listed between these medications, but it's always best to double check to be sure. Can Pur-Bloka or it's generic be bought over the counter? What alternatives are there to Pur-Bloka? I'm using it once a day for mild nervousness. ## Pur-Bloka contains the active ingredient Propranolol, it is a beta blocker, which is most commonly used to treat high blood pressure and cardiac related conditions. Thus, I am not sure how it is supposed to help with nervousness of any type. In the U.S. and other countries that regulate their medications, it is only available by prescription. Hi there. I have been using 0.5 alzam and 10mg pur bloka for 12yrs.I suffer with high blood pressure 165/110 usually. In the beginning I used 2 alzam a day but Dr said 4 alzam a day and 2 per bloka.I suffer bad with anxiety. It gets so bad I turn to alcohol but then the next day I feel sooo sick, break out in sweats, heart palpitations and high blood pressure then keep wanting to have bad attacks that I take up to 6alzam but doesn't help. I have taken Pur-Bloka previously, with not much luck. Being a bridesmaid at my sister's wedding, having bipolar2 stabelised, I experience my emotions grabbing hold.
