i have chronic back pain however try not to take medication unless i have to. i have left over flexeril 5mg from a prescription written in dec. 2009 and expires 2010. is it safe to take for muscles spasms or should i toss it. i like to keep some in my cabinet because the few times my back gets really bad i am unable to get out of bed. ## Flexeril contains the active ingredient Cyclobenzaprine, which is a muscle relaxant and you should contact your doctor for a new prescription, because it does lose efficacy past the expiration date, so it may not work as well as it did, when it was new. This creates the danger of overdose, by taking more, to get the relief you need. Almost all medications have a limited shelf life and will start to lose efficacy past that date. I take 10 mgs of lexapro and was wondering if 5mgs of flexeril would interact? I weigh about 140 lbs and am 5'8. I do not take anything else. My mom gave me a flexeril to help with some muscle spasms in my back but I don't want to take it if it interacts. ## No, these medications should not be taken together, as it increases the risk of your developing Serotonin Syndrome, which has the potential to be fatal. Thus, if your doctor hasn't prescribed them both for you, it could be very dangerous for you to take them, according to FDA reports. It would be best to consult your physician to see what you can safely take. Is there anything else I can help with?

Found a very small, peach-colored pill. Has the number 282 on one side, and "IG" on the other. I think it's a 5mg flexeril, but would like confirmation please. ? ## Hi Kathleen, From what I could gather, a round peach pill marked with IG on one side and 282 on the other, is reportedly identified as a 5mg Cyclobenzaprine tablet - the generic for Flexeril. Apparently it's a muscle relaxer but has an off-label use for fibromyalgia as well. And for added verification, this pill is listed as being manufactured by a company called InvaGen Pharma. It also carries a National Drug Code of 68462-0552. I hope this info helps!

I took a 5mg Flexeril (just one pill, for just one day) and the next morning had 4 positive pregnancy tests. Went to the doctor the next day and it was negative? Is this possible? ## Wow! Why did you do 4 of them? Some medications can cause false positives, but there are other things that can cause them, as well, such as hormonal treatments, user error, defective tests, and antihistamines that are taken for allergies. Did the doctor do an actual blood test?

I take amlodipine in the morning for high bp and a water pill, at night I take Losartan and Lorazepham and I am on flexeril and 5mg of percocet 3x day for back pain. My BP is so high at night I can feel the heart beat in my fingertips and i lay awake for hours. I read where if I take potassium at night it will help to lower my BP. Is this true and if so, could it eliminate my BP meds at night. doc says it is stress related and rises when I am in pain. ## Hello, Shar! How are you? You should not take potassium, in addition to the Losartan, unless your doctor specifically says you should, because Losartan can also raise your potassium levels and building up too much of it in your body can be very dangerous. it's a form of oxycodone + acetaminophen ## Hi rudy, Are there imprints on the tablet as well or does it not have any markings? Reason I ask is because I actually came across several different pentagon shaped yellow pills. However, all of them happen to have imprints of some sort. My findings of pentagon shaped yellow pills include the following medications: Cyclobenzaprine 10mg Dexamethasone 0.5mg Effexor 50mg Flexeril 10mg If you could please post back with any additional information on potential markings and maybe even where the pill originated from, this may help narrow down our search efforts. Does anyone else here recognize this tablet?
