I have suffered from all over body pains in muscles & joints for over a year. They have me on a cocktail of meds, none of which seem to assist, such as Cynbalta, Lyrica etc. I have also been on Synap-Forte which seems to assist with the pain the best, but now they want to remove it from the market. I'm at my wits end as this is the only med that really helps. The others just make me feel terrible & & cough like a sick dog when I take Lyrica. The doctors have diagnosed Fibromyalgia, but it seems far more. Can you advise me as this pain is belilitating me that all I do is stay in bed all day. ## I have Fibromyalgia, and most days, it seems as thought there HAS to be something worse going on. The pain is intense, aching, stabbing one minute in my back, the next in my legs, ...

50yr old male. Diabetes, fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis, assorted arthritis, chronic/severe pain. Motorcycle accident in 1985/ lost use of right arm. Now weighs 163 down from 200 in a period of 8yrs. Struggles daily with PAIN. ## Hello, Kathy! How is he doing? I'm sorry, but this is an information only website, there is no one here that gives a diagnosis and prescribes any treatments. Is he under a doctor's care? He most likely does need some type of pain management.

I was recently put on Lyrica for severe Fibromyalgia pain. It is a nice change from the narcotic pain medications I have been taking but the pain is still intense. Have any other FMS patients seen results from Lyrica? ## I have FMS as well as back pain and nerve pain in my ribcage. My dr seems to think that if we get the dosage hi enough that it will help the Fibro. So far I have no relief for my Fibro symptoms yet and I am on 400mg. Karel ## Lyrica is actually not approved for FMS, it is currently approved to treat Diabetic Neuropathy, it will only work for certain types of nerve pain. It is not a narcotic, nor an analgesic, so it will not work like they do for providing pain relief. To see any results, it also usuall takes at least a month with these types of meds. ## I am fully aware...

I have been taking Gabapintin (Neurontin) for fibromyalgia pain. Although it has worked well I have gained close to 35 pounds. Does anyone know of a anti-nerve pain pill that does not cause weight gain. ## There is really no way a doctor or anyone else can know ahead of time how any medication can affect anyone. They can only assume that it will be effective based on medical records, current health, age, what the condition is, whether or not any other medications are being taken at the same time, etc. Any of these factors as well as others can affect how you respond to this drug. Personally, I think if you are able to do so, that a significant change in diet and exercise habits would prove to be effective. From what I can tell, the medication you are taking may cause cravings and/or pro...

Has any one had success with the use of Zonisamide for pain with fibro and if so how long did it take ? Been on one week am at 300mg and do not have any relief yet. ## Zonisamide is another one of the anticonvulsants that's been shown to help some people with certain types of nerve pain, however, it is not actually an analgesic, so it can take approximately 4 to 6 weeks to reach its full effect in your body. Has anyone actually used this medication? ## I had disabling fibromyalgia about forty years ago, just before it had a name. I have fibromyalgia, and so far I haven't received an answer as to exactly what it is. Please explain in lay mans words ## Hello, Penny! How are you? It's kind of a catch-all term that's used to describe a condition that has occurred without other explanation or cause, but which causes chronic widespread pain, fatigue, joint stiffness, depression and possibly anxiety, as explained by the NIH. In other words, the person may seem perfectly healthy and have no other detectable health conditions, but they still present with these types of symptoms and they are bad enough to be debilitating and disrupt their normal activities. Is there anything else I can help with?

What are the best medications to treat fibromyalgia? I am always hurting somewhere on my body. Especially my back, knees, and hips. I am so exhausted. I also have trouble walking when my knees, back and hips hurt.
