i going on suboxen and need to knnow when i start subs ## Hello, Mike! How are you? You actually need to be in full withdrawal, before taking Suboxone. It contains Buprenorphine coupled with Naloxone, which neutralizes other narcotics to prevent them being used, while someone is being treated with it, so taking it too soon could throw you into dangerous precipitated withdrawals. What instructions did your doctor provide? This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. How long have you been off of the Fentanyl?

I was on 180 mg of ms contin after tapering down from 300mg for 16 yrs. I wanted to try fentanyl patches so my Dr gave me 75 mcg patch. Wow I had absolutely no pain .....but after 55-60 hrs I would wake up sweats flip popping all over totally withdrawals then I talked to a friend, she's on 50 mcg. I'm back to ms contin 120 mg ready to taper to 90 mg but it doesn't help the pain. So the pharmacist said since I also felt anxiety, depression the two weeks I tried the patch he said that maybe it was too high of a dose. Anyway my friend said she's on 50 mcg which is what I would go on and she had same thing for about 3 weeks. My ins will pay for 15 patches for 30 days so why can't I just change them every 2 1/2 days so that doesn't happen or will my percocet 10's ...

I have been on the Fentanyl 25mcg patches for about a month and a have. My doctor switched me to the 50mcg patches but after two of them I was moved back down to the 25's because they were too strong. My pain is almost gone so I want to get off of the patches but I don't have enough money (no insurance) to keep buying them or to see the PM Doc again. I have 5 25 mug patches left. Is there any possible way to ween myself down to zero with minimal to no withdrawal symptoms after? I am desperate to be done with all of these pain killers! Please help! ## After such a short period of time, the withdrawal effects should be minimal, though you're likely to still experience some, since this is such a potent narcotic. And as to a way to taper, there's really no way to do that eff...

What are the uses for Fentanyl and what's in it? ## what is fentanyl? and how long does it take to come off a 50mcg because my wife smokes a cigarete sometimes and pain management will not treat you if you smoke here in hall co. ga. ## Does all pain treatment places now in america refuse to treat you if you smoke cigarets?? Thats the current policy here in gainesville ga. hall co. dont understand the logic behind it . ## Fentanyl is a very potent opiate that is used to treat severe pain, thus, the FDA warns that it carries the risk of being habit forming, and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth. Can you take 50 mcg fentanyl with suboxone? Any replies from anyone please get back to me. Thanks. ## Hello, Baconbob! How are you? The active ingredients in Suboxone can also prevent Fentanyl from working as well, just as it does for other opiates, so you should mix them, unless your doctor has specifically told you it's okay to try it. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Also, can I cut the patch in half?? ## Suboxone does not block fentanyl. Fentanyl is to strong and knocks the suboxone off the receptors, I have done this many times. Just have to be careful not to overdose. The...

I am a 33 yr old woman being treated by Pain Mgmt Dr. for chronic pain as a result of 3 failed elbow surgeries and nerve damage. My current dosage is 50mcg/hr every 48 hrs with up to 4 oxycodone per day for break through pain. I know the patch is suppose to be a good medication for pain control, but I am really considering asking to change to a different medication because of the sweating problems I have on the Fentanyl and I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem. I am constantly drenched sinced I have been on the patch. Dr tried hytrin to control sweating, but all that did was cause me to bloat. I tried HRT for a year to see if that would help...no luck, still sweating. I sleep with only a sheet over me and window open at night and still wake up soaked from sweat. If I do a...

i have had 2hrs sleep in 2 days have been on fentanyl patch 2mg for 8mths and have none left and cannot get in to docs til 1st feb have had chronic back and neck spasms cramps twitches and sneezing nearly all the symtoms they decsribe how long does this take to get out of the systom doc never said this would happen at my wits end thanx ## Hate to tell you Elle, but you are in for a ride. W/D symptoms of Fenanyl can last for weeks. Are you having a problem with keeping them on, have they been falling off, is that why you are running short. There are bio-oclusive bandages named Tegaderm or Opsite you can place over the patch that will keep it on. I have never heard of a 2mg patch. Are you sure? They come in 25mcg,50mcg,75mcg,12.5mcg and 100mcg. This amounts are released per hour so I gues...

I take 50mcg/h patches I was amazed out how well they worked (Cancer) I have been on Fentanyl for 5 months the first patches hardly worked from a generic company Sadoz. It felt like I was just putting a piece of scotch tape on myself I told my Dr and he explained some story about the drug companies are removing the gel and made this new format (so i have to suffer because he said people were able to get the gel out of the patches?. I filled my last 2 prescriptions at walgreens and they had your brand I was out of pain within a half hour -Are you switching to these flat patches? and if so PLEASE help me find a company that will still carry them !!! ## this site does not manufacture, nor sell any medications, this is an information only website, therefore this site is not switching anythin...

I got a serious question to ask .I just had lower back surgery, a fusion with a cage.My dr.have me the fentanal 50MCG PATCHES,WITH 60 MG OF MS CONTIN EVERY 12 HRS. AM I GONNA BE OK IM MORE AFRAID OF OVER DOING IT .IM ALSO SUPPOSE TO BE ON 15 MG of roxy every 4 hrs as well but i haven't gotten them filled yet. My main question is am i takin to much 60 ms cotin with 50MCG OF FENTAYL?? I hope i could get some simple feedback on this.thank you. ## Whether or not such dosages are too much is entirely relative to the person taking them. It may be too much for some people, but not for others. If you are really concerned about overdose, you could speak to your doctor about starting small, then working up to taking more, if you need to do so. The FDA warns that these medications carry the ri...

Hello. I am on the Fentanyl 50mcg patch taken the standard way. Change every 72 hours. I have been on the patch for almost a week. I am on the patch for excruciating thigh and lower leg pain due to spinal problems.Tomorrow will be my third new patch. My questions are: I have yet to notice anything that seems like pain relief. Nothing. Should I have noticed any kind of relief by now, or does it take longer than I've allowed it so far. ## Hello, Greg! How are you? Yes, you should've noticed some pain relief within an hour or so of putting on the first one. However, it is possible that it just might not work for you. Have you contacted your doctor about it? This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizzines...

I have been on Fentanyl patch the 50 for about 3 years and kept telling the doctor I was having side effects. I am being weaned off to see if it is the Fentanyl. I become very agitated, and can not sleep. The first day the patch ws applied i had vivid dreams, ichy and burning skin, I also feel like i am going crazy and feel like an overdose. I am now down to 93 pounds. The doctor is slowly weaning me but I am still having withdrawls at times. Has anyone else had these side effects and will the withdrawls get worse or better? ## If you are doing a slow taper, then they will not get much worse, just keep following your doctor's instructions. ## Yes I am in the boat. I really don't know how long I can stay on the patches because of these problems. The dreams freak me out and the sw...

On june 29, 2009 my doctor upped my Fentanyl from 50mcgs to 100mcgs. I applied one patch and had a reaction simaliar to an overdose. I immediately put back on a 50mcg patch and have been reducing the dose ever since. I am now down to 6.5mcgs or there about, I have been cutting Mylan brand patches in half, the quarters etc., I have been at this dose since the 10th of July. I really don't want to stick another one of these things on me, so does everyone think I've got it down low enough to come off this stuff? Thanks for your help. I do have ativan and percoset if needed. ## After doing exactly as I described in my message on the 14th. I am happy to report I am totally off the fentanyl patch totally since the 14th Stepping down in doseage as discribed worked like a charm. I must s...

hi i have been on these patches for 4 months now but i still have pain ## Have you consulted your doctor? Do you have any medications for breakthrough pain? Usually, for proper pain management, something long acting like the Fentanyl is used and then some that works immediately, or a regular release medication, is also given for those times the pain is too much for the long acting medication to completely control. ## I am on 25mcgs of fentynal patches every 72 hours, plus 10/325 pecocet 1 every 4-6 hours for BT pain. The Percocet doesn't do much, and is very similar to my previous prescription of Norco and the patch isn't strong enough and runs out after 48 hours. I am going to ask for 48 hours, and 50mcgs on the patch, and switching to oxycontin for B.T. pain.Hows that sound to ...

Will a 75 mcg/hr fentanyl patch help with dilaudid withdrawal? ## Tramadol 50 mg x 2 tablets is the only thing that works for me when I can't find a pharmacy to fill my Dilaudid. I have heard it helps with Oxy and other pain reliever withdrawals. The stupid Commonwealth of Kentucky has outlawed Tramadol and Lyrica is highly regulated because it helps with withdrawals. Yes, they are living in the stone age. So, Tramadol must work for others as well. Your doctor should prescribe it, it is available at any pharmacy, doesn't help that much with the pain, but you won't get sick. ## Fentanyl is much stronger, so that would actually be the wrong direction to go. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, diz...

I am using Fentanyl 25mg patch for chronic back pain. Is it ok to use nucynta ER 50mg for breakthrough pain? ## Has your doctor prescribed them both? It is unusual to prescribe 2 time released medications, together. That's not usually the way breakthrough pain is handled, usually there is one time released medication and one instant release, or regular release medication, because they help with pain much faster than a time released medication.

My wife has fibromyalgia and is in a significant amount of pain every day. She has been on a 100mg fentanyl patch for years. Then she chose to reduce it to a 50mg patch. She does not want to be on this patch any longer. She quit cold turkey. She is on day 4 without a patch and I just want everyone to know that my wife did it! My wife is going through hell right now but she is fighting and she is doing it! ## All opiates are an adventure, in my opinion, and quite often aren't worth the little bit of help with pain that they provide, but not everyone will agree with me. I'm glad your wife is doing well, but please keep an eye on her for another week, or so, as there is still a slight risk of her experiencing some dangerous withdrawal symptoms, such as severe rebound pain, and seiz...
