Can I take Xanax to offset the side effects of Buspar? I only took 2.5 mg (yes, that's 2.5, not 25)twice a day for one day and had a number of bad side effects. That was Tuesday, today is Sunday and I still cannot sleep, am shaky, nervous and have a pressure headache. ## There are no interactions listed between the two medications, but you should double check this information to be safe. Learn more Buspar details here. Learn more Xanax details here. I'm sorry you are having so many side effects and I hope they ease off soon. Is this the first time you've taken Buspar? ## Verwon, yes this was the first time I've taken Buspar. I just took my first Buspirone, would like to hear from anyone on side effects and how long before it worked for you ## I used Buspar for about a year and had good results in reduction of anxiety. The side effects I had were, about half an hour after I took a dose, I got a funny feeling in my head (sort of lightheaded, a little dizzy), and it was quite unpleasant. It lasted about 15 minutes and then went away. I eventually got tired of that feeling and gave it up. ## I AGREE WITH JAMES. I WENT ON BUSPAR FOR 3 WEEKS AND THEN STOPPED. BUT I HAVE NOTICED DIFFERENCE SINCE I DID. AND NOW I JUST STARTED AGAIN. IT KIND OF GIVES A FEELING LIKE YOUR BUZZED ## I notice the same dizziness soon after i take buspar i have to take it before bedtime because i feel so weird. ## i have the same dizzy fe...

Hi, my dr prescribed this for me for anxiety. At first I was hesitant because I read about the bad side effects you can get (brain zap, uncontrollable movements, etc) but I have finally decided to try it. He said start off 5mg 2x a day. My anxiety mostly presents itself with racing heart, palpitations, tightness in chest. Does buspar help calm these things down? I am also on Xanax, which helps a great deal, but I am hoping this i can take in the day time to help ease my symptoms. I just am scared of the side effects. Any experience would help. Thanks! ## Yes, it can help with those symptoms, but the only way to see if it will work for you is by trying it. For some people, it is better than Xanax, or other benzodiazepines, because you take it all the time to help keep symptoms under cont...

Does buspars make anyone else angry? ## Hello, Billy! How are you? How long have you been taking it? Sometimes, these anxiolytics can cause symptoms like that for the first few weeks that you are taking them, while your body is adjusting. After 3 to 4 weeks, your body usually adjusts and it starts having its intended effect. Other side effects, as listed by the FDA, may include nausea, dizziness, headache and feeling nervous/excited. However, if you've been taking it for over a month and are still experiencing this, then it may not be the right medication for you and you should speak to your doctor about trying something else.

What are the ingredients in Buspar and do they have the same effect as Xanax? ## Buspar contains the active ingredient Buspirone, it used to treat anxiety disorders. And no, it is in a different medication class and works different than Xanax, which contains the Benzodiazepine Alprazolam. Buspar may still cause some side effects, such as: nausea, dizziness, headache and drowsiness. Are there any other questions?

buspar is amazing ... helps me out with all types of anxiety including panic attacks ... but you have to tell yourself you will be just fine... breath and relax ... I know its scary but if something bad is going to really happen to you ... its going to happn even if you worry ... so why worry? <3 ## Thanks for keeping us posted on how this medication has been working for you! Not many patients post reviews of how they like something and are usually complaining about side effects, so hats off to you on finding something that works! I think your perspective on coping with "panic attacks" is great. If something undesirable is going to happen then there's really no point in trying to get worked up about it; as being in a bad frame of mind may just make the situation worse th...

My doctor wants me to take BuSpar instead of Paroxetine. Can someone please help explain the differences and what would be better? ## Which one is preferred depends on the condition being treated, and its severity. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and mood changes. They have a med called buspar that looks exactly like a xanax bar except one side has only 2 score lines as to divide into 3rds. Beware of fake xanax. ## It's not a fake tablet, it's actually just people looking at it and assuming what it is, rather than actually looking it up to check. Buspar is an anxiolytic, so while it does help with anxiety, it must be taken regularly, not on an as needed basis. Its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, dry mouth and headache. A couple tablets that people have assumed were other medications, but which are actually Buspar is a white, oval tablet with M B3 on one side and 5 5 5 on the other and another that has the marking TV 1003 on one side and 5 5 5 on the other. From what I can tell, it is the division marks on them...

I was taking xanax for my anxiety disorder. My doc switched me to buspar. I don't like it and I do not ! It is helping. I know xanax works for me and I did take it responsibly. My doc doesn't like to prescribe benzos to anyone. How can I convince him that I'm more comfortable with the xanax? I'm afraid to ask for the xanax specifically because I don't want to be treated or accused of abusing them. ## Hello, Jme! How are you? How long have you been taking the Buspar? It doesn't work like Xanax, which you can take as needed, you'll need to take the Buspar for about 4 to 5 weeks, before it'll reach its full level of efficacy in your body, in order to see if it will help you, or not. What effects don't you like about it? Many doctors prefer it to benzodia...

Is it possible 4 patient who's has been taking 60mg (every morning) of Buspirone regularly for 6+months then, after doctor recommends adding 30mg at night (for limited time to get through sudden situational increase of anxiety) to begin feeling LESS anxiousness within an HOUR of new dose? Or is it just a placebo effect? ## Hello, Christy! How are you? Yes, it is possible. It may not work that way for everyone, but it does for some people. There are even women who suffer from PMS that take a medication such as Prozac just for 2 weeks of the month, because it has enough immediate effect to help them over their worst hormonal days. It really just depends on the person and how their body responds to any given medication. This medication may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness,...

I started taking Buspar 3 years ago for panic attacks. For me it works to prevent the panic attacks in the first place mostly. Great for me. I was getting pretty bad ones 3 to 5 times a week and it went down to about 1 every month or so. With xanax it helps to slow down the panic attacks but once it has started it is kind of too late. I now take latuda for bipolar sever depression and schizophrenia and after 3 months i rarely think about suicide any more and am awake and active much more. Also i have not had a panic attack since starting the Latuda. ## Awesome, Nickoly! I am so happy that you've found medications that work so well for you. Have you experienced any of the typical Latuda side effects that the FDA lists, such as drowsiness, dizziness, nausea, stomach pain or diarrhea? ...

I am already taking 10 mg buspirone 2 times per day and my doc has suggested adding 0.25 mg paxil, to further help with anxiety. Is this safe? Also, please tell me the credentials of the person responding. thanks very much. ## They both can increase your serotonin levels, which can be risky, but they can be taken together, with physician approval and regular monitoring. It's also more prone to occurring with high dosages, these are both very low. BuSpar is classified by the FDA as an anxiolytic. Its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache and dry mouth. Paxil is classified as an SSRI antidepressant. Its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, mood swings and weight changes. Is there anything else I can help with?

Hi. Anyone experience lowering your dose of BuSpar to 40 mg from 45, then back up to 45 in 2 days? Is it like starting over again? I'm having increased anxiety. ## No, just lowering the dose for a couple days, then returning to the original amount would not be like starting over, since you were still taking it. However, you should know that some increased anxiety should be expected, when your dose is lowered, things should improve, once your body adjusts to the new, lower dosage. Has your doctor approved of you changing your dose? The FDA lists the typical side effects of Buspar as possibly including nausea, dizziness, mood changes, headache, and excitement. Ref: BuSpar Information ## Thank you very much or your replies. Ive decided to get off it. Experiencing anxiety withdrawls amo...
