How early can you refill a 20 day narcotic pain medication? ## Hello, Jay! How are you? It really depends on your pharmacy. Some will let you pick it up a few days, before you're out, but many will want you to wait until the very day it's due for a controlled substance. The FDA warns that these medications have the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I went hospital they Thursday pills oxycodne 2 every 6 hours. Today I had surgery surgeon give Norco 7.5 I fill Saturday new rx Norco 7.5

I have been on norco since spring of 2013 after a car accident. I recently started seeing a pain management dr & he gave me a script for norco but my primary had filled my script on October 31st. However instead of putting every 4-6 hours as normal he put twice a day which I didn't even notice because as I said I've been taking them for a while ...technically I'm not due for my refill til the 15th but as we have had some cold fronts the last 2 weeks (I always hurt worse) I am out as of today. I'm allergic to naproxen & aspirin & ibuprofen doesn't help much but I don't know where to go to get my refill technically 4 days early. I know walgreens won't refill except for 2 days early. I have disc degeneration in my neck & back but I also have a di...

I had my dr call in and approve for me to get my refill early. What can I explain to my new doctor to approve early refills due to the old office being closed? ## It sounds like this isn't the first time you've needed early refills, and since dr's can't refill controlled meds anymore, it doesn't sound like opiates, so why not have your doctor adjust your dose? I don't see what the problem is unless a piece of the puzzle is missing. Some things we CAN control, take a little stress out of your life. Good luck. ## Need to have my oxycodone filled early. Got 5/325s on the first but my doctor raised strength to 7.5/325s. Can I get this filled being so close to other ones on the first? ## I had the same basic situation happen to me recently. Script was written for 5-32...

I take xanax three times a day ,so thirty tablets is a ten day supply. How many days early can i get them filled ## A day, possibly two. Why not ask the Doctor to prescribe for a one month supply? I know my first prescription years ago was for 10 days at the .25 strength. Over the years I now get 12x more a day and for 30 days instead of 10 days, how times have changed ## Hello, Lucy! How are you? Thank you, Eddy!! However, one also needs to take under consideration how it is prescribed. Does it direct you take it 3 times a day regularly, or does it say to take it as needed? If it's on an as needed basis, then it might be considered to be more than a 10 day supply. The FDA classifies Xanax as a benzodiazepine that's most commonly used to teat anxiety and nervous disorders. Its t...

Hi I live in California and I have been going to the same CVS for years.. I cash pay.. Recently I have been going through an extremly rough time.. very serious issues with regards to one of my children.. I am devestated.. CVS has always had no issues refilling my xanax prescription early.. usually around 7-10 days.. My dr called in a refill early on June 26 with no questions asked.. My next doctors appt. he hand written my xanax prescription on July 7th.. I held onto it.. and my husband dropped it off at pharmacy on July 18th and did not specify that I needed it that day.. I actually was surprised when I got a text notification saying it was ready an hour later.. I have a refill left and when I logged onto my CVS account earlier it had a message that said cannot be filled until Aug. 7th...

I know theres a billion threads on this but I get prescribed xanax 90 a month. My last fill was on 6/3/15 and its 6/25/15 now. My question is can I fill it 4 days early or only 3? I would be OUT of meds on the 2nd ( if I took last 3 that day) so do I count the 3rd of july as a day or count from the day I run out ( the 2nd of july) as in 3 days before. If that makes sense. I wanna known if it would 3 days before my fill date or 3 days before I run out counting the same day. I'm in florida. I get anxiety and dont wanna get red flagged or anything calling early for it. Thanks guys ## You should be able to, depending on the Pharmacy. You have a 30 day supply and 4 days is usually allowed! ## You wouldn't get flagged for that, just a few days. Doc will either fill or deny. If denies ...

Husband has late stage Parkinson's and has chronic pain issues . Takes dilaudid. Prescribed 6times daily. Sometimes he needs more. He is 78 years old and I just want him comfortable the time he has left. I m his wife. I m 55. CVS after years of our business won't.fill his script 7 days early. What are my options? Its not that I'm some young woman seeking out drugs. ## monitor his pill intake better. there is not a pharmacy around that will do refills in 7 days earliest is 3 day .. too many attempts to refill early you will get reported as either a supplier or seeker and most places turn you in to the local police and get you pulled off meds for seeking is usually the suspicion.. Sorry with meds because of these kids these days there is no upside.. ## Hello, Mary! How are you...

Can I get my Xanax refilled ten days early? ## Generally no, but it depends on the Pharmacy. My insurance will allow refills when 75% of the medicine is used up, but the pharmacy can make you wait until the entire supply is used. I had a 3 month prescription and got it refilled at the 2 month point as I wanted a free $25 Rite Aid card. I got the pharmacist in trouble and was told never to attempt that again. However I have done so since, just not at that period, plus my plan no longer allows for those free $25 cards ## Generally that is too far in advance for a controlled substance, most pharmacies will only allow you to refill it a day, or two in advance, while some require you to wait until the exact day it needs to be refilled. Xanax is a benzodiazepine that carries the risk of being...

Please understand early refills depend on insurance and federal law most scripts have to be 90% complete before a refill is authorized some even with controlled substances will do it 7-9 days ahead of time my xanax gets refilled 7 days early everytime with no issues but understand unless your insurance authorizes a week early refill the pharmacy by law cant do nothing even if you wanna pay with cash ## A Pharmacy that fills a controlled substance early is not following the law correctly. I find my insurance will pay for a new refill at the 75% point. I am able to stock up on extra meds. This should not work the same way for Xanax and doesn't. Still I have over 1000 extra, go figure? ## Will CVS fill my perscroption for diazapam one day early. I have adhisive capulitas. Itake 5mg in ...

Doctor took me off vyvanse due to BP issues and put me on low dose of Adderall IR and so I threw the remaining script away for vyvanse, two weeks later put me back on it because BP was resolved and Adderall had bad side effects. My ? Is what do I do regarding pharmacy to get the new script filled? Anyone been thru this before? ## Usually, they will call your doctor to have it authorized, because they can explain what happened. The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability, insomnia, and anorexia. Is there anything else I can help with? ## The amount of times I have been told that I am "too early" to fill a stimulant prescription is breath-taking. If i'm even one day ear...

I'm going out of town for 2 weeks and will run out of my clonazepam during the trip. I called my insurance company and they said I can refill it when I have gone through 75% of it which would be the day I leave. My insurance is Capital Blue and their preferred pharmacy is CVS. I typically go to RiteAid. Since it is always a new paper prescription (according to the law), should I just go to CVS since the insurance company (Capital Blue) told me I can have it refilled early there or will RiteAid also follow the insurance company guideline? I was also told I can't get the prescription filled in other states (I will be in MA and then Florida). I'm not sure how to handle this. ## Hello Erika, What a tricky situation! I'm on oxycodone 10-325mg every 8 hours. I'm having my 4th cervical/thoracic surgery in less than two years, next week and it will be changed to every 4 hrs. I will run out before my time to get it filled. What should I do? ## Hi Roni! If your Dr. Changes your dose 2 take more medication, then, they will realize u r going 2 run out earlier. And, when u do, they should give u another prescription. That's happened 2 me. The Doctor increased my meds. After surgery, and, I ran out early. They gave me another prescription.

I know this is not right but not many things are any more.... Does any one know of any pharmacies in MO that will fill prescriptions early? It is dated for yesterday but the do not refill date is next week. ## I don't know of any pharmacies personally, but I can provide you with a link that locates pharmacies in your general area. I would just suggest calling up a number of them to see who may be able to fill it early. I'm sure some pharmacies have loop holes that allow them to look past this sort of thing. I guess it really depends on who's working there and what kind of person they are at the time you call them. I hope this can help! ## Nope - They will call your Dr and then you will really be in trouble, the pharmacist will rip it up. I have tried that my self hoping they...

I am due to have my alprazolam refilled on the 23rd of this month. In a few hours it will be 3 days from that. Will the gov't allow that (I have Maryland Medicaid) (state ins.) or do I have to wait 2 days? ## It's not the Government, its the Drug Store or Pharmacist. I would say yes. With that said I'm not sure what your Medicaid program will pay for early when it comes to controlled Drugs even though they are dirt cheap ## When someone has Medicaid, it is up to the pharmacist/drug store and Medicaid. Even of the pharmacist wants to refill it, Medicaid can deny it. ## Ty both so much. ## I have a refill for my 5 mg diazapam , I take one in the morning and 2 at night for adhesive capulitas. Will CVS fill my scrip 1 day early?

If my script states "may fill on 11/30", is that the same as "do not fill until"? Just wondering if I could pick up before 11\30. Thank you ## Hello, Ladybug! How are you? Yes, it would be considered the same by most pharmacies, according to the DEA prescribing directions. Is it a controlled substance? Those are typically the ones that doctors write that on. Generally, it may be done with some opiates, stimulants and benzodiazepines. ## Thank you for replying! Yes, it is for my pain med. He had never wrote that before so I was a little confused. I didn't know if they would except it today or not. I am actually due to fill today but he messed up with the 30th date on it . The office was closed to get it corrected. I'll just have to wait i guess. Thanks again ## Ye...

I received my 1st prescription of Adderall just last week and I've lost them! I had a doctor's appointment today and he wrote me another script that I'm assuming is for next month. I didn't dare to tell doctor that I lost my meds. I live in Maine. Can I fill this new script at a different pharmacy without using my insurance this time? ## Hello IRD, I'll be transparent in telling you that it's in your best interest to come clean and tell your doctor what happened. If they discover that you are trying to get your next script filled already it could potentially cause you problems down the line as they might believe that since you didn't tell them anything and now you're trying to get another script filled it starts to look like you're trying to misuse th...

I get xanax 1mg perscribed to me. On the lable it says take 1 to 2 a day as needed. I only receive 50 pills. I got it filled on 7.17 and today is 8.12. I use gateway insurance at a CVS pharmacy. It has been 26 days if i am correct. That means if i take 1 pill a day thats 26 out of 50, 1.5 pill a day is 39 out of 50 and at 2 a day thats 52 out of 50. Well wait, if i only have 50 pills, i cant take 52, which by refill date would 60 pills. I have 2 refills left, i was wondering if i would have a problem getting them refilled, i have read insurance goes by the percentage of pills left. Well it depends on how you look at it depending on what i "should" have left... ## Hello, King! How are you? Does the pharmacy label list the days supply? Hello, I just moved to North Dakota two weeks ago and I have a prescription for Xanax. I filled my prescription on the 27th of July 2015 and am due for a refill on the 26th this month (August 2015). I live in a small town, Scranton, ND and the closest pharmacy to me is in Bowman, ND, about 13 miles away, and from what I have been told, the prices at the pharmacy there are extremely overpriced. Currently I am unemployed and cannot afford the prices I have heard that they have, so I'm going to have to travel to Dickinson, ND, around an hour away from where I live, at their local Wal Mart to get a refill. Problem is, I own an old rundown '89 pickup truck that I don't think would be safe to make the trek in, so I'm going to have to get a ride from my father on one of his day...

Is it the insurance or pharmacy who decides if an early refill is ok? I'm talking 3-4 days early. ## That's a good question. I'd recommend double checking with your insurance company just to be sure... but I wanna say that it probably is the insurance who has the say, if they are the one's paying for it. Some policies I've heard of actually state that you can't get a refill until you're at least 75% through your prescription. And apparently that is calculated/determined from the date you first got it filled. 3-4 days early sounds like it fits comfortably above that margin, so you may be just fine, depending on the type of insurance you have. I'd imagine that other companies policies could also be a lot different as well. I hope this helps!

I am in TN and on Clonazepam. My doctor only writes 30 days at a time. I go back on the 9th but I'm out a week early. I have PTSD and bipolar disorder and need them. I was at someone's house and they stole my medicine. I don't want my doctor to think I over took it because I didn't. My pharmacy sent a request for me already and I am trying to see her tomorrow cause I have staples in my head. Should I tell her why I need the refill if she asks or just bring it up? I'm needing something for my head though.
