I want ti know if the tablet Melmet 500 mg can cause dry cough ## Melmet is a brand name from India for the medication Metformin, commonly sold in the US under the name Glucophage. I had malaria three weeks ago and I have treated it but am still not feeling fine as I am still coughing. Can I use Augmentin to treat the cough? The cough does not bring out phlegm but it's disturbing. ## Hello, Gee! How are you? Augmentin will not do anything to treat a cough. It is an antibiotic that is only effective at treating bacterial infections. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. Have you consulted your doctor? They should be able to direct you to something you can safely take. ## My mother has had a dry cough after taking augmentin for one week for throat congestion. She was taking three 625mg tablets per day.

There is no expiration date on this cough medicine. It is hydrocodone-chlorpheniram that was filled on 9/2/14. Is this still safe to take? ## Hi Jackie, According to studies represented by Harvard University and the LA Times Newspaper, hydrocodone can reportedly last anywhere from 10-40 years past the expiration date, depending on the conditions in which it is stored. Chlorpheniramine on the other hand is something I'm not so sure of (when it comes to long term studies); however, GlaxoSmithKline a UK-based drug manufacturer denotes a shelf life of 3 years for their Chlorpheniramine tablets. I understand that your product is liquid rather than a tablet, but if it were me in this position I'd probably feel some sense of security if it were stored in a cool, dry and dark environmen...

Is disperzyme tablets recommended in case of sufferring from cold and dry cough? Any side effects? Is there any cheaper substitute of this? ## This medication is unavailable in the U.S. and I am sorry to say that other countries do not regulate their prescription drugs as strictly as the FDA does.
