My doctor prescribed me 100mg 4x a day nitrofurantoin for 3 days. I finished taking them but my diarrhea didn't stop. And I have really bad acid reflux (rumbling of the tummy) how long will this medication last in my body? I finished drinking the meds last thursday at 3am, its now saturday here in my countrt. Thank you. ## Those can be normal side effects of this medication, as reported by the NIH. You may also experience nausea, dizziness, headache, and non-allergic skin rash. How are you doing? Has there been any change? ## I would like to know what over the counter antibiotics are there for a urinary tract infection? It hurts when I go to pee.

I was just wondering if anyone has drank with this med and were there any side effects? I've been on lexapro 10 mg for a month and am feeling great but I am petrified to even attempt to drink alcohol, but would like to try. So if anyone could help that would be great. ## I have been on Lexapro for 3 years. I drink about twice a week and everything seems to be fine. I have noticed that if you drink heavly for a few nights in a row you will feel a slight depression. Just don't over do it. I was worried at first also. ## Lexapro is an antidepressant. Drinking alcohol is not recommended, as alcohol is a major depressant, and undoes the work the medication does. ## Never do that! I was on that medicine for 2 years, and I was never able to drink! the first time I drank when I was on l...

My father has suffered from very serious bad pain in his knee. Hes tried numeous medications and none seem to help. We bought Rumoquin today and I hope it works on him. Is there another Medication to avoid while drinking Rumoquin-NF. What are the most serious side effects? thanks in advance ## Rumoquin NF contains Dexamethasone, Phenylbutazone and Methocarbamol. Learn more Dexamethasone details here. Learn more Phenylbutazone details here. Learn more Methocarbamol details here. And since the Dexamethasone is a steroid, the Phenylbutazone is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory and the Methocarbamol is a muscle relaxant, there is the risk of some serious side effects occurring, especially with long term use. Such problems may include: weight gain, fluid retention, compromised immunity, eleva...

Around 7pm today I started experiencing UTI like symptoms. This time last year, 2/15/16, I was also treated for a UTI and was prescribed phenazopyridine and sulfamethoxazole. I was waiting an hour while drinking glasses and glasses of water before I knew it was a UTI. Once I determined it was, I had one of each of my old prescriptions, until I can go pick up a new one tomorrow morning. However, the phenazopyridine doesn't seem to be relieving my symptoms, and the pain when I urinate is getting worse. My urine is also yellow, not orange. Even from the beginning to now. Is it because the prescription is just over a year old? Any suggestion? I'm in quite a bit of pain. ## It is hard to say, medications do lose efficacy with time, but it could also be due to a different strain of ba...

I know I am not suppose to drink alcohol while on this medication but I have a party to go to. Is it ok to stop taking the med a day before and pick back up the day after the party? ## Drinking alcohol, while taking this medication can cause an increase of side effects, so you may feel more nauseous, dizzy and drowsy than usual. Learn more Neurontin details here. And people that take it for mood disorders or seizures can basically defeat the purpose of Neurontin, since the alcohol puts them at risk. Thus, it is best not to imbibe while taking it and not to skip doses of your medication, but if you feel you must, check with your doctor first regarding the safety and make sure that you won't be driving or operating any heavy machinery, while under the influence. Are there any other qu...

Hi, I went to the doctor today and was prescribed 5mg of Lexapro. I am a senior in college and am fairly social. I typically go out to parties and/or the bar a couple times a week, and when I do, I usually have anywhere from 6-10 drinks. I usually get pretty drunk if I'm being quite honest. The main reason I am posting is because my 21st birthday is next weekend (nine days away). I plan on having a party and want to have a good time, but also don't want to put myself in danger. My doctor told me I could just take half a dose that day (2.5 mg) and only drink like three drinks (which I know won't happen) or wait until after my birthday to start taking the Lexapro. I would like to start taking now, but also don't want to have something bad happen/act a complete fool on my b...

I have been taking naltrexone for about 3 weeks now 50 mg/day to help control my overindulgence in the drink. Its not really working. I drink pretty steady and when I get out of work crave a cold one (or 12) pretty strong. The naltrexone kind of made me not want to drink as much, but not enough to make me actually not drink. Im not trying to stop drinking. I just sometimes over do it and make a fool of myself, upset/disappoint loved ones, hurt myself etc, etc. I feel this runs in tandem with my social anxiety, where I try to use alcohol to beat the anxiety, which never works, but I dont seem to be able to learn that lesson. Once I have a few, the buzz kicks in which inturn makes me want more. Did I mention I really, really like being drunk. I know that sounds immature, but its true. Im ...

Dear Sir, I would like to know if mixing cocoa with milk is a good choice or is it preferable to drink cocoa alone... ## Cocoa is not a medical substance, so while it may have some health benefits, I believe the manner of imbibing is entirely up to one's personal preference. Are there any other questions or comments?

I have been type 2, for 10 years, 3 years ago I was put on Sitagliptin, then last year on Invokana, lost weight and also lowered sugar numbers, then instead of using diet and excercise I just used the tabets to keep sugars down, then sugars went to 8.7 HBAC1, was put on Victoza and both medications stopped, in last 3 months, my sugars on Victoza sky rocketed to 11.9 HBAC1. After a massive argument with the GP, I asked to be put back in Januvia and Invokana, my sugars over the last months have been in their 15 to 20, I took one tabet of each yesterday, and my number are in single figures, I have vowed to keep drinking more, do my excercises and also now go on a low carb diet, I am grateful for these new medications, without which my sugars was out of control, and my next option was Insulin

is a glass of wine at night ok if taking pain meds during the day 2 norco a day ## Hello, Jean! How are you? Generally, it's best to abstain from alcohol, when taking narcotics, due to the fact that they can both cause depression of the central nervous system, which can result in shallow breathing, nausea, dizziness, drowsiness and lower blood pressure. However, if your doctor says it is okay, then please make sure you will not be driving or doing anything dangerous. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with?

I am currently on my first week of Qsymia. I need someone's honest opinion and I will ask my doctor too once I see her again. I am not a big drinker at all but when I go on vacation I do get a couple of drinks here and then or maybe once a day. It's my vacation and I want to enjoy it. Am I going to die if I have a drink or 2 or would you recommend stopping the medication for the week and half I am on vacation? ## Hi Steph, According to umm.edu's drug interaction tool, drinking alcohol while taking Qysmia is not recommended as it may increase or decrease blood levels of topiramate (one of the active ingredients in Qysmia) potentially resulting in more side effects and/or a less effective dose. They also goes on to note that the combination of alcohol and topiramate may cause ...

Has anyone been prescribed both and drank at the same time? I did and I can usually put down 12-15 beers, I've finished 3 and feel all drunk or dizzy or something ## Hello, RR! How are you? Naltrexone can help reduce alcohol cravings, but it won't actually stop you from drinking, neither will the Lexapro. While it can worsen the side effects that the FDA lists, such as the dizziness, drowsiness, headache and nausea, you can still drink if you choose. It's just like quitting smoking, you have to help the medication work, it can't do everything on its own. How long have you been taking them? ## I have been on Naltrexone for about a month now and has absolutely no desire to drink. However, I do know if I wanted to have one or two I could do it and stop there, but I just don...

I want to start drinking warm lemon water in the morning, because I been reading on it and it has a lot of good benefits. I take Lisinopril, Hydrochlorothiazide, and also Contrave in the a.m.... Will it hurt to drink lemon water with them or when would be the best time to drink it? ## No, it will not do any harm, if you take them with lemon water. However, you should be aware that while it is not harmful, the claimed health benefits of warm lemon water have also not been proven. The FDA lists the typical side effects of your medications as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and dehydration. Is there anything else I can help with?

Can I drink 8 hours after having one pill of 5/325 Hydrocodone/Tylenol? I am only wanting to have a couple. ## Hello, Genny! How are you? It is usually best to abstain from alcohol while taking any narcotic medication, especially one like this which also contains Acetaminophen/Tylenol. According to the NIH, both can be very harsh on the liver, so combining the two could result in liver damage, or failure. The FDA also warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. I just finished a prescription of Hydrocodone - 50 pills were in the prescription. It was Hydrocodon-Acetaminophine 7.5-3.25. I took them over the course of 11 days. In a week or so, once the side effects have pretty much worn off, since it tends to worsen them, so you get more nauseous, dizzy and drowsy than usual. Hi. I have had the naltrexone implant for approx 2 months now. When I got it I cried with relief when driving home because I thought it would be my saviour after everything I heard and read. I have been a black out drinker for over 10 years now. Have done detoxes, one rehab, two years of AA and nothing helped. Continued to have the never ending torture of thinking about the damn drink. But I'm devastated that I'm still drinking most nights on this thing. I know it's psychological, it's definitely not physical cravings. I am forcing large quantities of discusting tasteting cheap vodka down my through because I just can't handle being sober. Always so scared to be sober. I don't enjoy drink anymore and go straight to black out drunk yet I can't stop. Getting ve...

I am 35 lbs underweight and have been trying everything there is to gain weight, including drinking Boost with extra protein and calories, whey protein with 2x the lean muscle building qualities, eat ice cream by the gallon, whole milk, I exercise - everything but cannot gain in fact I just lost another 2 lbs. Is there a medication that will help me gain weight that is FOR this purpose ? ## Unfortunately no, there isn't a medication just for gaining weight. There are some that doctors will sometimes use when someone is extremely underweight, such as in the case of people undergoing cancer treatment, or for AIDs patients, but they are all medications that are actually intended for other purposes and just can cause weight gain as a side effect. This can happen with most steroid class ...

Hi Everyone! I started taking Metoprolol Er Succinate about a week ago. My heart rate was spiking too high while working out. After a stress test my doctor thinks I have a thyroid problem and but me on the medicine until I get my blood results back. The thing is I am only 22 years old. I would like to go out drinking tomorrow with my friends. I am thinking about not taking my medicine that night ( I usually take it at night) to avoid possible side effects. Has anyone drank on this medicine before? Am I good to go? I saw online it may make side effects worse but I am mainly concern whether mixing the two is fatal or not. I want to get better but I also don't want to give up my youth. Please help! ## I take it also, since 2008 I believe. Doc prescribed it to me for my palpitations. I ...

I eat a lot but I dont gain weight. My friends say that i should drink propan with iron.. but before that, i should make sure that i dont have parasitic worms inside my body... My question is, is it still effective if i drink propan even if i have parasitic worms in my body? Your answers will be greatly appreciated, thanks! ## It isn't that the nutritional supplement would be ineffective if you have parasites, it's that if you do, it could be the reason you aren't gaining weight. And if that's the case, then supplements aren't going to help you gain weight, either. If you fear that you may have parasites, you should see your doctor to be tested. Are there any other questions or concerns? ## Don't say drink, just say "take". Before you take propan + iron, ...
