How can I the generic Vicodin. I want my RX to state "generic for Vicodin" It used to say, Hydrocodone/Apap 5/500. Now when I get my refills it says Hydroco/Apap generic for Norco? Told they are the same so why do I need to take the Norvo in larger doses (2 pills each time) to get the same relief from one generic Vicodin? There must be something my Dr is writing on the prescription that causes this to occur. Thank you for your help ## Hello, Grandma52! How are you? Vicodin actually contained more Acetaminophen than the Norco does, it was available with amounts including 500mgs and over. However, last year, all of the tablets with the higher doses of it were removed from the market. Thus, Vicodin and its generics are no longer available. The maximum dose of Acetaminophen availabl...

I live in central new jersey, and lost my dr. of 10 years. I did 5 years in physical therapy for some issues. I am now forced to leave my dr. and desperately need another immediately. I need him/her to prescribe my xanax and restart my pain pills. I will be out of xanax in a week. Please help me find a doctor who will easily prescribe these medications. ## Hello, Suzie! How are you? Why are you leaving your current doctor? Due to the new regulations that were put in place, if you require such medications on a long-term ongoing basis, you'll need to see specialists. Can anyone recommend good doctors in that area? ## Had to leave her because we became personal friends and she has become way too involved in my life. It's complicated but this leaves me in an awful position. Besides ...

I was perscribed vicodin 750 es and then norco was told they were same and also available under other names. Is this true, and what other names do they come in? ## Yes, both Vicodin and Norco contain Acetaminophen and Hydrocodone as the active ingredients. Another name it is sold under would be Lortab and it is also available as a generic, so that would be listed as just the active ingredients. There are also a few different dosage strengths available. Learn more Vicodin details here. What you were first prescribed, Vicodin ES means an extra strength formulation of Acetaminophen and Hydrocodone and the larger number, like the 750 you listed is the amount of Acetaminophen in them. It helps the narcotic to work better. The Hydrocodone itself is only available up to a maximum of 10mgs. Is ...

I am having cataract surgey. My Dr put me on 4 different eye drops. They were very expensive. Are they really necessary for thuis surgery? ## Without knowing more specifics, I really can't provide you with any information on that. Can you post back with more details on the eye drops? Such as the brand names or the active ingredients? Learn more Cataract details here.

Are the doses for Lortab and Hydrocodone identical? I.E.: does 5/325 Hydrocodone = 5/325 Lortab, etc? ## Hello, Chris! How are you? Yes, they both contain Acetaminophen and Hydrocodone, so they are the same. There are several different brand names for this combination medication, some of them are Lortab, Vicodin, Norco and Lorcet. The lower number (5) is the amount of the narcotic Hydrocodone that's in it and the higher number (325) is the amount of Acetaminophen. Learn more Lortab details here. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## What does the loratab 10 have on it.I eas perscribed them and they were oblong w...

Are there any pain meds made with a 500mg of acetaminophen & 10mg of hydrocodone or oxycodone ect ## Hello, Nicole! How are you? Lortab, Lorcet, Norco and Vicodin were all brand names for medication combinations that contained Acetaminophen and Hydrocodone. There are none that contain more than 325mgs of Acetaminophen per dose, now. The ones with the higher amounts were all removed from the market. That includes the Oxycodone combinations, as well as all other combination prescription drugs that contain Acetaminophen. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Percocet has up to 10 mg of...

I was prescribed a Z-Pak (Azithromycin, 250 mg) and pseudoephedrine hydrochloride (60 mg) on a cruise and now my insurance company wants the American equivalent drug numbers for them. ## I think you are talking about the NDC number. It is a seven digit number - and the easiest is to do a search on internet of the medication and dosage - ie: Zithromycin 250 mgm and you should get all sorts of results. ## Yes, if they want the National Drug Code number for them, it is going to vary depending on the manufacturer, dosage, and etc. You can learn more about NDC numbers here from the FDA, and access a directory. Can you provide any further details on the medications you were prescribed, such as markings on them? Manufacturers names, or etc.? The FDA lists the typical side effects of these med...

I am having cataract surgey. My Dr put me on 4 different eye drops. They were very expensive. Are they really necessary for this surgery? ## Hi Mary, May I ask the names of all 4 eye drops you were prescribed? If I know what you have, I will be able to do some research and answer your question to the best of my ability. ## Moxifloxacin + Ketorolac + Prednisolone + Brimonidine Very expensive... I just wanted to know if Methodone and Trazodone are related, or are in the same family. ## No! Methadone is a narcotic/opiate, used to treat pain and drug addiction. Trazodone is an antidepressant. I believe your confusion was caused because the names are so similar at the end, but you were incorrectly spelling Methadone. Do you have any other questions?

Over the past forty years I have been taking oxycodone and valium for different lengths of time, different health issues, and manufactured by many different pharm companies. Until the 1990s the brand names were affordable; $20. for 100 Tylenol #4s, $25. for 100 Percocet 5s. When the drug prices went sky high, generic versions flooded the market, $75. for 100 Miltowns vs. $5. for 100 generic meprobamates; but for every two Miltowns I was used to taking, to get the same physical effect (mild sedation) from the generic version I had to take three times as many. Even my doctor told me that the generics were only about 35% as potent as the brand name, so he told me to ask for the brand name of meprobamate Equinal, which was just as good as Miltown but only cost $18. for 100 tabs. Now, though...

Rimonabant has various names: Bethin, Monaslim, Riobant, Slimona, Rimoslim and Zimulti, and comes in either white or green pills of various shapes. I lost more than 50 pounds taking it with absolutely no side effects whatsoever. The so-called "side effects" were blown way out of proportion and were more than likely the result of something else the people were using/taking. ## where can I get Rimonabant? ## Hi Lee, How's it going? I'm glad to hear that you were able to find something that works for you without having to worry about any of the side effects. Side effects are almost always a possibility with most types of medications. But because we all react and respond differently, it should be known that not everyone who takes these drugs experiences them. No matter how r...

I normally recieve blue loritabs this month went to the pharmacy that didnt pay attention to scripts they were filling because they tried to double up a new antidepressent w another stronger antidepressant from my file that I no longer take cuz it makes me sick. So the pills I got this month are labeled the same Hydrocodon-acetaminophn 10-500 but are pink instead of blue and have a V on 1 side and 3600 on the other??? ## Hi gabby, In this case, it appears that both pills have the same dosage and are likely just manufactured by different companies. When you switch brand names, the drug itself doesn't change, but rather the binders or fillers that they put with it. Certain "inactive" ingredients that may or may not be present in each brand, are actually detrimental to how the ...

I have been taking Hydrocodone 5-325 s, by mallinckrodt for a few years now for back pain , they work really well, I take 2 at a time . My pharmacist switched to Qualitest and it was a nightmare . I took one of those and had a migraine headache the whole day , along with breathing problems, rash , and nausea , bad stuff . I did some research and manufacture does matter . Found a place that has Mallincroft . ## Hi Ilene, Sorry to hear about your experience with the Qualitest version. I'm glad you were able to find a place that has your preferred manufacturer in stock. If I had to make an assumption based on your description, I'd say the binders and fillers could've been the root cause of such side effects. When you switch brand names or manufacturers the drug itself doesn...

Im looking for a dr in dallas ftworth that will prescribe vicodin or methadone for chronic pain ## I'm sorry, but there is no listing of doctors according to what they will or will not prescribe that I can refer to for you. And due to the new regulations that were put in place last year, if you require such medications on a long-term ongoing basis, you'll need to see a pain management specialist. Do you currently have a PCP? If so, having them refer you would likely be the easiest way to find the help you need. Can anyone suggest a good doctor in that area? ## Me too!! Hello. I'm in severe pain. Need doctors from Youngstown Ohio Canton Akron + Cleveland + western Pa. My doctor got arrested now I'm left with no doctor. Anyone know where I could go? Please let me know. Thank you. ## May I ask the name of the Dr you were seeing? I don't think I'm supposed to drop names here but I'd be happy to give you names of those located here. You can very likely do a Google search for pain managers in the area. Why not have your pcp refer you somewhere? You're going to need some kind of referral there's no question of that. They don't make appointments for new patients over the phone without a faxed referral and very likely will request the records come from the referring Dr. Why? They don't trust that the patient hasn't made ...

Meloxicam 7.5mg expired 10/13 is it ok to take. Thank you ## Hi Babe! Medications can b expired for years and still b safe 2 take. They may lose their potency, but r safe. ## @Babe, "Most" medications (aside from tetracycline) are still considered safe to take even up to 15 years beyond the expiration date. Harvard Medical School wrote an article about this too, discussing how the US military drew that conclusion after examining stockpiles of old medication. They didn't list the names of any particular drugs, so unfortunately I don't know which medications were used in the study. However, I'd imagine something like Meloxicam with proposed analgesic and fever reducing effects, to be a drug of interest upon making such claims. Would you say was it stored properly all t...

I have taken 7.5mg hydrocodone for pain in the past, the only effect being the absence of pain. Took one about 3 hrs. ago for a toothache and......it KNOCKED ME OUT! Had to lie down, slept for about two and a half hours, and I'm still really groggy. The ones I've taken in the past were not 'Watson 502', and I'm wondering why this one affected me so differently. ## Hi Leslie, When you switch brand names or manufacturers, the drug itself doesn't change, but rather the binders or fillers that they put with it. For this very reason, I believe the differences in side effects you are feeling have a lot to do with certain "inactive" ingredients that may or may not be present in each brand. I'm frustratingly surprised that doctor's and pharmacists don'...
