Does Suboxone Block Opiates From Working

I am trying to cut back on my pain pills (oxycodone #10) that I take 4-5 times daily for my pain. If I take the suboxone later that day and am still hurting, can I take 1 of my oxycodone's and will it work with my pain or will it block it and I would be just wanting it? Please help me if anyone knows the answer. ## The Naloxone in the Suboxone will block it from working. The Suboxone takes a very strong hold on the opiate receptors in your brain and tends to kick out other opiates, which could also result in dangerous precipitated withdrawals. This is simple. I've been on suboxone for five years. I'm clean. I took opiates for thirty years. Methadone was the kinky way out and frankly doesn't work for the same reason subutex rarely works. You can still take opiates on top of both. Suboxone has a blocker. It is easy knowing you can't feel high. I still go to therapy and meetings. Beats being deaf. Good luck. ## Hello, Anfy! How are you? Actually, Subutex can still block other opiates from working, so many people do have good luck with it. It contains the active ingredient Buprenorphine, which tends to cling to the opiate receptors in the brain much stronger than most other opiates, so it can also cause precipitated withdrawal, if someone has been taking any recently. The FDA classifies it as an opiate that is mos...

Can you take 50 mcg fentanyl with suboxone? Any replies from anyone please get back to me. Thanks. ## Hello, Baconbob! How are you? The active ingredients in Suboxone can also prevent Fentanyl from working as well, just as it does for other opiates, so you should mix them, unless your doctor has specifically told you it's okay to try it. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Also, can I cut the patch in half?? ## Suboxone does not block fentanyl. Fentanyl is to strong and knocks the suboxone off the receptors, I have done this many times. Just have to be careful not to overdose. The...

I'm a chronic pain pt. I was on 16 mg of sub for pain for 2 straight years. It completely stopped working, when in the beginning it worked "good enough" now, my dr is a pain specialist and suboxone dr. He put me on a fentynal patch 25 mcg told me to take my last dose of sub and put patch on at same time because sub should b mostly out of my system within 12 hrs. I had no problem switching but a little wd from the sub. It is only day 4....dr said 40% of your opiod receptors r still open on sub!!! It only fills 60% of them. Still, enough to block most opiates, except very high doses. Now, I am just starting to feel the fentynal on day 4. But am still in moderate/sometimes severe pain. Anyone with a similar experience???? ## Hi Painpatient38, I haven't personally had an exp...

I've taken subutex for a long time know for chronic pain, in my opinion it's been awesome. I just had surgery. My surgeon was very forthcoming about everything. My issue now is can I go back to subutex after my last dousing of oxycodone 20s and 20s timed released. I've done it before but opposite, like when I was on subutex I had taken oxycodone but im freaking myself out because of everything I'm reading... every one makes it seem completely different.... It's not suboxone.... it's subutex. It really bothers me when people put it in same category, they assume it's the same. But I have way to many stitches to be throwing up.. ## Hello, Shay! How are you? Subutex contains Buprenorphine, which can also block other opiates from working or throw someone into prec...
