Do they still make and/or use this antagonist? I hear a lot of people talk about Naloxone. I thought Naloxone was for overdose and Naltrexone was a stronger antagonist or what they say is a "blocker". ## I take low-dose naltrexone for MECFS, so my dose is 0.5 mg not the 50 mg of the usual tablet. I get it from a compounding pharmacy and they make it with pure Naltrexone powder they get from China or India or something. People must be taking the 50 mg tablets though because I know the pharmacies carry those still, some compounding pharmacies will be able to get your LDN covered by insurance by getting a 50 mg tablet for making it your correct dose, so I know it’s still exists. I just don’t know anybody who takes it.

I can’t seem to find an answer. If oxycodone now has naloxone in it so that there isn’t an euphoric high, isn’t that the same as the Suboxone? Suboxone has naloxone in it but it must also have the narcotic also, otherwise how would it keep people from going into full blown withdrawals? The new pain pills are the SAME EXACT thing, they stop the withdrawals but do nothing for the pain? So aren’t we as the consumer/patient being misinformed as to the true nature of the new formulated pain pills? I’m in pain but oh thank you I still have narcotics in my blood. I have hep-c. I'm on methadone, but am switching to suboxone or subutex. I hear that naloxone is bad for your liver. Is this true and should I tell the Dr this? ## My liver is fatty and I have been an opium addict since 2010. Can you please tell me if Naloxone tablets are harmful for my liver or not? ## Naloxone is processed through the liver, so it would be best to make sure you doctor is aware of all of your medical conditions to be safe, as a dosage adjustment might be necessary to it, or other medications that you might be taking. Shiku has your opium problem cause any liver damage that you are aware of? Some medications can worsen existing damage.

I have heard some horror stories about the effecta of taking Naloxone containing products long term. I have heard people say they had negative neurological effects from it as well as severe depression and other problems. I have also heard that Naloxone sucks all of the natural endorphins out of your body too. Doctors are really quick to prescribe a Naloxone/Buprenorphine combination product but never seem to be able to answer what the long/lifetime effects of Naloxone truly are. Has any research been conducted on the long term use of Naloxone? I am very concerned because it is nearly impossible to get a medication for drug addiction in this state that does not contain some amount of Naloxone. I am trying to cut back on my pain pills (oxycodone #10) that I take 4-5 times daily for my pain. If I take the suboxone later that day and am still hurting, can I take 1 of my oxycodone's and will it work with my pain or will it block it and I would be just wanting it? Just wanted to know what these are? I got them in Australia. They are a very bright orange color with score marks on one side and nothing on the other. ## Are they orange flavoured as well? Perhaps if so, bupenorphine w/naloxone also generic for suboxone.

I need to know how long before naloxone is out of urine, because i go to a subutex dr but ran low and took suboxone. I know naloxone shows up and it's a technical fail. So I need to know how long it'll take to be clear on a lab test? ## I know this was posted awhile ago, but maybe someone else can benefit from it. Recently I was given narcan in the emergency room after being nonresponsive for an hour and vomitting while I was unconcious. I had taken 120 mgs of ms contin and 2 mgs of ativan, but in this case it wasn't the pills I had swine flu. That was the reason I couldn't get enough air and couldn't stay awake. Anyway they gave me the narcan and almost immediately I started shouting and swearing and having extreme chills and heat flashes at the same time and extreme paranoia. I also couldn't stop coughing and was breathing very rapidly. I was just wondering if that was withdrawal symptoms from the dose of narcan or if I just had a weird reaction. Can you take Targin whilst on methadone? Will it make you sick? Targin is oxycodone and naloxone. I don't why they'd put it in. I'm just wondering if I'm able to take that as I'm on the dome. I am on methadone and I've got an abscess in my mouth. It's killing me. Can I take targin naxolone or will it interfere with my methadone? ## Targin Naloxone will not do anything to help with an abscess, it is used to prevent opiate abuse. The NIH lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, and stomach pain. An abscess will require an antibiotic, and follow up dental treatment to correct whatever underlying problem has caused the infection. Have you consulted a dentist?

Could my chronic idiopathic hives (of 5yrs) be caused by 2mg Suboxone? I've been on sub for that long. And if so, is it the bup or naloxone? I'm sick of getting Xolair shots and just masking the underlying issue. ## Hello, Mike! How are you? Yes, it has been known to cause that, in some people that take it, according to FDA reports. Other side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. It also carries the risk of being habit forming. can a doctor all of a sudden say you need to see an allergist after he has wrote me for the last 6 months ## Yes, especially if they have some reason to suspect that you may be allergic to something. The allergist can do some tests to check and see if your doctor is correct. What type of issues have you been experiencing? The FDA lists the typical side effects of Naloxone as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, and body aches.

I recently tested positive for naloxone. I have never taken that. Please help, my job depends on it. I am taking diazepam, seroquel, buspar, neurontin. I was on an antibiotic nitrofurantoin and I tried a vistaril. Can any of these cause a false positive for naloxone? ## The same thing happened to me when I wax going in to doc to get my perc refill. My doc didn't say Bupe was also in my system and I too had taken: Diazepam, nitrofuratonin, and neurontin, as well as naproxen and robaxin. Did you ever find out if any of those scripts were the causing factor? Because she got hesitant because of the stigma of narcan being used as a drug for people overdosing. Thanks.

Can you get pain meds if you have surgery while your on suboxyn or can you never get pain meds again ## Usually, your doctor would have you stop it several days before surgery, so it won't cause problems with anesthesia and to ensure that pain medications will work for you. The Naloxone in it usually only blocks them from working for about 3 days, after last taking it. The FDA classifies this as an opiate that is most commonly used to treat drug addiction, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. I have a large and long opiate habit and no matter how long i wait to switch to subutex i go into heavy wd's. At times i should have been in the hospital. Any suggestions? ## Hello, Andrew! How are you? You do have to be in full withdrawal, already, before you can take it, even though it doesn't contain the Naloxone like Suboxone. The Buprenorphine itself tends to cling to the opiate receptors much stronger than other opiates do, so taking it to early can also cause you to go into full withdrawal. The FDA classifies this medication as an opiate, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. How long have you usually waited to take it? What instructions did your doctor provide?

People in 14 states can now walk into a CVS and pick up an opioid-overdose antidote without a script, the company announced yesterday.
