Hi I’ve been taking 50mg losartan for almost a year and BP was avg 128/89 then it went up to 140/100. My Dr upped it to 100mg and after a week it went up a little more. How long does it take for the medicine to start working and should it start working sooner since I’ve been taking losartan previously? ## @SW, You mentioned that you've been taking 50mg losartan for almost a year before it stopped working as effectively... I'm just under the unique impression that perhaps your body built a tolerance to it over time and that's why your blood pressure was gradually going back up? I've never heard of any medication taking a year to start working, so this is the only plausible explanation I can think of. Have you already discussed this with your prescribing doctor...

Decholin Dehydrocholic Acid

Hi, My mother is 57. She had been diagnosed for breast cancer in Nov 2009. Right breast removed. Now, very recently 40 days ago, she developed brain metastases. She underwent WBRT and is being prescribed Decdac and Eptoin. Doctor suggested to take Eptoin 100 , all 3 tables together at night. With this she stays stable for close to 18 hours and then again starts getting angry and irritated and forgets many things. Since the effect is for 18 hours, it becomes difficult to give her medicines after exactly 17-18 hours. My question is if I can give her 2 tables twice daily after 12 hours. Would this be effective. Pls suggest ## Eptoin contains Phenytoin, an anticonvulsant that is also used as a mood stabilizer. You shouldn't make changes without checking with her doctor. But yes, it can ...

My husband has recently developed epilepsy and is on epitec 100 . Just want to make sure which pain killers are preferable to take when needed. Or which not to take. Is myprodol or ibupain ok.?? Do they interfere with the epitec. Have heard that some medication can interfere...? ## Rather than just thinking of what may interfere with the Epitec, his overall health and the severity of his epilepsy also need to be taken into consideration, when deciding what medications are safe for him to take. Thus, the best suggestion I can make is that he check with his doctor, before taking anything else. Is Epitec the only medication he is on? Does he have any other health conditions?

I have been taking sinemet 25/100 for parkinsons. I was taking 8 a day with dr. permission. I began taking more without permission to ward off what i call parkinsons attacks. My dr scolded me and told me to try to go back to 8. I feel the need for another doe before time for the scheduled dose if i only take 8 a day. I realize its like withdrawl from drugs. but do you have any suggestions for me to keep feeling ok without the extra pills? ## Hello, Pam! How are you? Sinemet doesn't work that way, actually. You can't just randomly take more some days to ward off symptoms. For it to be effective a consistent dose needs to be taken daily for about 4 to 5 weeks. It also won't cause severe withdrawal symptoms, since it's not a habit forming medication and you're still tak...

Just heard Darvocet N100 is not going to be made any more. I have taken this for years. As of today, I have stopped. Can there be any long-term side effects? I can't seem to find much info. ## Yes, the FDA has decided to have any medication containing Propoxyphene withdrawn from the market. It's been known, for a long time, to be cardio-toxic, increasing the risk of heart attack and heart failure for some people that use it. They found that it increases the chances of some people experiencing heart rhythm problems. I did the research for you and no, any possible effects are not long-term, they have been found to disappear, when the medication is discontinued. Although, this is a narcotic medication, so if you stopped abruptly and it is not being tapered or replaced with somethin...

I wanted to go off my antidepressant 150 mg. of pristiq My doctor dropped the 50 mg. of pristiq and started me on 10 mg of viibyrd . I'm sick all the time, dizzy, fill like i'm going to throw up all the time and very depressed. I wanted to go off antidepressants all together, why do doctors just keep putting you on more pills. I've been taking antidepressants for over 22 years, I just retired at 62 and can't afford to be on this medicine any more. ## Hello, Brenda! How are you doing? Sorry that you are experiencing such symptoms. Withdrawal effects are always a possibility when stopping antidepressant medications, so your doctor may have switched you to the low dose of Viibryd to try to prevent them, but only your doctor can really tell you for sure. My grandmother'so Dr. told her to double up on her blood pressure medication. She is already taking Losartan 100mg...this would mean that she would take 200mg at one time. Is that safe? ## Hi Jess19, My opinion is that if her doctor instructed her to do so then odds are it probably is safe, since he/she has likely made this decision based off your grandma's medical records and an in-person evaluation of the condition (I would hope). Furthermore, 200mgs a day is reportedly the maximum recommended dose of Losartan Potassium - So your grandma's dosage still falls within FDA guidelines. As to how she might respond or react to such a dosage, only time will tell, as everyone is affected differently by these medications. However, it may be a good idea to closely monitor her blood p...

I am using it since last 3 months. 2 tablets daily. ## Hetrazan contains the active ingredient Diethylcarbamazine, it is used to treat infections of different types of worms. As to the side effects, they usually only last for the first 4 to 6 weeks of using the medication, so you really shouldn't be experiencing many, after 3 months. However, they can include: nausea, facial itching and swelling of the eyes. Are there any other questions or comments? ## I am treating a Bancrofti infection in the US. I am using DEC. The purple triangle pill with letter F on one side and 100 on other side is generic viagra 100mg. Comes from India, Fildena is the actual name of the pill. ## I have also identified a purple triangle with a 100f imprint as Fildena (100 mg). It contains the active ingredient sildenafil citrate, which is the same ingredient in Viagra. For those who don't know, the primary indication of sildenafil is treatment of erectile dysfunction. Its use is now standard treatment for erectile dysfunction in all settings, including diabetes. As well as erectile dysfunction, sildenafil citrate is also effective in the rare disease pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). It relaxes the arterial wall, leading to decreased pulmonary arterial resistance and pressure. This, in turn, reduces the workload o...

I've been on OxyContin for ten years. My insurance company decided I had to go on morphine sulphate er. I have a bad headache. Can I take fioricet? ## Hello, Joy! How are you? It would be best to check with your doctor first, mixing them can increase sedation, which could be too much for some people, depending on overall health. The FDA warns that Morphine carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and constipation. I didn't have my medication on me for a day and a half. I was supposed to be taking one pill, two times a day. If I restart taking my medicine is it still going to give me the same results, ridding me of my UTI? ## Hi, Aly! How are you? There's a good chance that you'll need a new prescription to make sure that you eradicate the bacteria that has caused the infection. The antibiotic needs to be maintained in your body at a fairly steady level for the required period of time to properly do its work, any break can usually allow the bacteria to reproliferate. Learn more Nitrofurantoin details here. You'll need to call your doctor to see what they say, they may allow you to just continue and finish. The decision may depend on your symptoms.

I am 59 and a diabetic for the past 7 years. I am also having high bp. I am 5'8" and weigh 68 kg. Generally my fbs/pps readings are n the range of 130/140, but for 2 months I have been getting readings of 150/160 and hba1c is 7.2. After seeing the past 2 months' reports my doctor prescribed Galvus met 50 mg/1000mg in the night and glycomet 250 in the morning, but I am unable to decide about Galveston met. My doubts are: 1. It's such a strong and powerful medicine to be taken for these readings? 2.
