Cyclobenzapr (5 mg) was just prescribed for me at bedtime for 5 days. Should I continue taking ambien (10 mg) while taking this? ## Hello, Bush! How are you? What instructions did your doctor provide? It may be best to double check. While there aren't any actual dangerous interactions listed between these two medications, they can both increase sedation, which may be too much for some people, depending on their overall health. The FDA classifies Cyclobenzaprine as a muscle relaxant and lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache and dry mouth. ## Why can't I control my need to urinate while taking this medicine? Doc has me on Cyclobenzaprine HCl (10 mg). 1 every 8 hrs as needed for back pain. These are very effective for the pain but make me VERY sleepy. I have read positive reviews on Soma. Does Soma have the same drowsy effect or can they be taken during the daytime ## Both Clyclobenzaprine and Soma, which contains Carisoprodol, are muscle relaxants and can cause drowsiness as a side effect. How long have you been taking it? Most side effects usually hit their peak around 4 to 6 weeks of use, once the medication reaches its full effectiveness in the body, and they will taper off in severity, after that. However, if you have been taking it longer than that and are still having such severe problems with the drowsiness, then you should definitely discuss it with your doctor. Is there anything el...

I have fibromaryia and my Dr prescribed CYCLOBENZAPR 10 MG . and lm always with pain such i keep taking them. ## Hello, Sugar! How are you? I actually doubt this medication will help much with the pain caused by fibromyalgia. Cyclobenzaprine is just a muscle relaxant, not a regular analgesic. My husband asked his dr for a medicine to help him stop getting fever blisters everytime he was in the sun for long periods of time, he gave him a prescription for cyclobenzapr, read about it and it days its a muscle relaxer, will it even help with fever blisters and can he take it while on suboxone? ## Hello, KC! How are you and your husband? No, fever blisters are caused by a herpes simplex virus, exposure to the sun tends to wake it up and cause a flare, so this medication will not do anything to prevent them, because as you said, it is a muscle relaxant. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache and dry mouth. It can be taken with the Suboxone, though it will increase the sedation and drowsiness, so this should be done with caution. The...

Its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache and stomach irritation. Cyclobenzaprine, however, is a muscle relaxant, not an analgesic, so it won't do anything to help with a toothache. I still have a prescription from 2015. I have been having back pain and cramping. It is now 2017. Is it still safe to take the medication that I have now? ## This medication doesn't become dangerous, once expired, but it can lose efficacy, so it may not work as well as it did, when new. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, and dry mouth. The best thing to do would be to dispose of and see your doctor for a new prescription, if one is necessary. Is there anything else I can help with?

Good evening. The Dr. has had me on cyclobenzaprine 5mg LEG 3 times a day for several years. I just went to get my refill and was given cyclobenzaprine hydrochloride USP 10 mg instead of the tabs I have been taking. I can take the benzapr 5mg. without any problems but am afraid of taking the benzaprine 10 mg. The Pharmacy not only gave me this RX i was not prescribed for, they put it from a totally different dr. that has been giving my prescriptions for benzapr. PLEASE tell me what to do...? Can I take naproxen 440 mg & hydrocodone/acetaminophen 5-325 tb & 10 mg of cyclobenzaprine together? I fell down the stairs and have tremendous back spasms when I move at all. Thanks. ## According to the University of Maryland Medical Center (umm.edu / drug interaction tool), there is a high interaction potential between Cyclobenzaprine and Hydrocodone, which states that taking the two together may increase your risk of certain side effects (such as: loss of balance, dizziness, slurred speech, confusion, changes in mental awareness & slow or shallow breathing). They go on to note that if the two medications are deemed to be required, your doctor may adjust the dosage and/or frequency of dosing in order to lessen these risk factors.
