My friend has been coughing for a while now, more than two years to be specific. It is not a dry cough, not painful, but very irritating and disgusting and to top it all it makes him very uncomfortable. He visited different doctors but none of them could help. How can something like this be treated?

Is it OK to take cefalixin cefalin for a cough with stiky plegm ang yellowish color.? ## This is an antibiotic and will only help with bacterial infections. The NIH lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash, and diarrhea. Not all yellowish phlegm is indicative on an infection, so it would be best to have a doctor evaluate your issues. It could just be your body fighting off a cold, or allergic stimuli. Are you on any other medications?

I am coughing up lots of phlegm, low fever (99.8) no appitite, lost 8 pounds, chills, fatigue, sleep a lot, dizzy. Doc gave me prednisone. Now short of breath, still not eating, dry cough with congestion deep in lungs. ## Hello, Marlene! How are you? Prednisone is a steroid class medication that can cause some side effects, such as insomnia, nervousness, nausea, loss of appetite, anxiety and acne. How long have you been taking it? It usually takes awhile to work. You may want to consult your doctor, again, you may also need an antibiotic.

I have a cough with yellow phlegm. Will xorimax 250 help? I just want to get rid of the yellow phlegm. Is it safe for me to take it? ## Hello, Joan! How are you? Has there been any change? This medication is an antibiotic that is used to treat or prevent various types of bacterial infections. The U.S. FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash, and diarrhea. However, yellow phlegm does not always mean that an infection is present, according to the NIH, although it was thought to be true for many, many years. It has been discovered in more modern times that it may just mean your body is fighting off a cold, or other issue. Thus, you should not take an antibiotic, unless your doctor confirms the presence of an infection.

I have been sick for a week. I have been coughing a lot & wheezing. I have a lot of phlegm but can't cough it up. I started using essential oils & it seems to be helping some. Could I have pneumonia? ## It is possible, however, there are also other possibilities, according to the NIH, such as a cold, asthma, congestive heart failure, bronchitis, and etc. However, only your doctor can give you a definitive diagnosis. And regardless of which condition might be causing these symptoms, essential oils are not going to cure it. Viruses will have to run to their course, and other conditions will require medical treatment. Has there been any change? ## please go see a doctor. they can listen to lungs and get an xray to see if you have pneumonia. that's what they did for me and i...

I have a lots of phlegms.... cough much, troat itchy and have a block nose with sticky mucus..been to see a hospital doctor but seems never clear off this sickness... is it ok if i take this fluimucil 600 acetycysteine? Please help.... thanks.. ## Hi Valerie, Sorry to hear about your flu symptoms. I know you posted this just the other day, so I hope you're starting to notice some relief by now. Based on my research, Fluimucil 600 (N-Acetylcysteine) is commonly used to treat respiratory tract infections - including those that have lots of mucous secretions. If this is something your doctor recommended for you, I see no reason why it wouldn't be ok to take; especially since it's specifically indicated for your type of symptom...

I had fever and I took paracetamol and i got relieved. after that I have colds and feel that I have phlegm in my chest for 6 days now. I cough sometimes. I want to know if Natravox is good for my colds. ## Have you consulted a doctor? Amoxicillin with Clavulanic Acid, commonly prescribed in the U.S. under the brand name Augmentin, is an antibiotic that will only work to treat or prevent infections. This means it can help if your problem is caused by an infection, but it should not be used for anything else. A cold is caused by a virus and this will not do anything to treat viruses.
