My daughter has puss pockets on both sides of her throat, cane ciprofla in to treat this. ## Hello, Jeff! How is your daughter? This is an antibiotic that can be used to treat various types of bacterial infections, so she should take it, if it's been prescribed for her by her doctor. The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Puss pockets in back of throat ## For one thing, puss pockets do not necessarily even need to be treated with antibiotics. Secondly, has she been given this antibiotic by her doctor? If not, do not even CONSIDER giving her a medication that is lying around the house? That is irresponsible. And as far as Cipro is conce...

I finished cipro 2 days ago for a UTI. Now I have sinus drip, scratchy throat and wheezing. Is it ok to take amoxicillin 500? ## You should take it, if your doctor has instructed you to do so, it can be far more risky to let an infection continue out of control. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash, and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with?

Had an ear infection for many years now, (6 years)which flares up every now and then. Go to the Doctors and get antibiotics, drops etc but it still comes BACK! Latest round of tablets now all gone, (Ciprofloxacin tablets prescribed this time) But can feel the pain coming back. Beside myself, enough is enough what can I do now??? ## Have you consulted an ear, nose and throat specialist? In such cases, it usually isn't the same infection ongoing, but something that is making your prone to get infections on a regular basis. This can sometimes happen to people who have a shape abnormality in their ear canals, or something wrong with their sinuses. Only a proper exam and testing is going to help you get to the root of the problem and find a solution. ## If it is a persistent MIDDLE ear i...

I wish to know the use & side-effects of this drug. ## i wnt to know the pharmacology of ciprobay 500mg. thanks ## Ciprobay is an antibiotic in the Fluoroquinolone Class of antibiotics. You can see an 'Introduction to Fluoroquinolones' here and see why you should be extremely cautious about taking these drugs and be certain that your doctor is prescribing them for a confirmed infection that should be treated with the Fluoroquinolone antibiotics. These antibiotics have many 'black box' warnings on them, and should not be taken for 'presumed' infections, and should not be the first line antibiotic for 'simple' infections such as sinus infections or urinary tract infections.

I have stuffed nose, ears hurt, throat scratchy, eyes watery feel blah can I take cipro for that?is this a respitory infection? ## Hello, Tammy! How are you? Only a doctor can tell you if you have a respiratory infection. Is your nose running? If so, is it yellow or green? If not, then it is not a sinus infection. You may just be dealing with a cold or allergies. This medication is only effective at treating bacterial infections. Its typical side effects, as listed by the FDA, may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea.

this was prescribed to my girlfriend because she has a cold/ flu Is this right? ## Ciprofloxacin is an antibiotic that's used to treat bacterial infections and it is not effective against the viruses that cause cold and flu. Learn more Ciprofloxacin details here. have a sinus infection ## can I eat dairy prodicts with this med ## Sinus infections are actually rarely caused by bacterial infections and therefore taking antibiotics for most sinus infections is 'not indicated' since antibiotics are only indicated for bacterial infections. In addition, Cipro has a rare but serious possibility of causing a severe condition known as Cipro Tendonitis. Again, while it's rare, it can lead to lifelong disability! Since sinus infections are rarely caused by bacteria, that would be awful to have become disabled after taking a drug that you didn't even need in the first place, wouldn't it? You may want to speak to your doctor about the need for this drug.

i have a cough from a sinus infection is it fine if i take ciprofloxacin hcl 500mg taran ## Questions like this are frequently asked about antibiotics, so I'm going to post some information for any other viewers to clear things up. Antibiotics are only effective at treating or preventing bacterial infections. They will not do anything to treat or prevent viruses, such as those that cause the common cold or flu, nor will they help treat the symptoms of them. In this case, it could help with the sinus infection, but will not actually do anything to alleviate the cough. Learn more Ciprofloxacin details here. Additionally, someone needs to see their doctor to have the presence of an infection confirmed, before taking an antibiotic and they also need to have enough to finish a full cours...

Never had a problem with antibiotics. This one gave me cdif. I am still trying to get rid of cdif after six weeks and two more rounds of flagyl. ## I am not sure what cdif is. It caused a bone-deep itch that could not be reached, which lasted weeks. And after that, I was also allergic to sulfas. Cipro is a dangerous drug and should only be used as last-resort! It is a synthetically-produced one, and very strong. Oh, it cured my bronchitis, all right, but it left me permanent reminders of that illness! Good r...

If the sore throat has been caused by something like a virus, allergies, just being hoarse or a myriad of other things, then antibiotics will not help. In addition, if you use them inappropriately you run the risk of developing antibiotic resistant bacteria. After having 2 sinus infections within a month, I was pretty sure I had yet another one. I took Cipro for the first two and they seemed to go away. I was sure that I had one again, so I returned to the doctor. He prescribed that SMZ-TMP double str. 800-160. I read the side effects that came with my prescription and thought, wow there are ALOT of side affects to this medication! I haven't really had a bad reaction to a drug before except when the doctor was trying to get my thyroid dose correct. At that time, I thought I was going crazy! I had anxiety really bad. I called that doctor's office many times and they finally called me back. When I told them all of my symptoms they acted like it was no big deal, just switch to this dosage.
