I have been taking my penicillin every eight hours. Can I switch to every six hours now? ## Hello, Chris! How are you? You should follow your doctor's dosing instructions, so if you're supposed to take it 3 times a day, then you should to the 8 hour dosing. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash, and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with?

Good Morning, I was on Cipramil for many years then hit very hard financial times so had no option but to change to Cilift (40mg/day). I cant say I have been particularly emotionally stable but I am going through dreadfully difficult financial issues so I don't know if the Cilift is just battling to work or if it is not working at all. I have now had to resort to going to our provincial hospital for my meds and they don't have Cilift, the only SSRI they have is Nuzak which has now been given to me (40mg/day). The Dr did not say anything about a change over period. So my question is this: do I stop the cilift one day and start the Nuzak the next? Will there be withdrawals from the cilift? I have been having dreadful panic attacks which I take Alzam for. Will the Nuzak stop them? ...

I've been taking synthroid/levothyroxine for over 35 years. Since Medicare Part D I have changed pharmacy 3 times due to costs. Although my TSH reads normal I have more hypo symptoms. Most worrisome is a change in LDL. I always had perfect heart ratio. Nails and skin are very brittle/dry, some hair loss, breast enlargement with weight gain (walk 3 miles/day), and GERD. All related to age? These issues are increasing over time with keeping same dose of Levothyroxine. Any suggestions if I should attempt taking Synthroid and stay with one manufacturer? But then I would be paying out of pocket or get a more expensive RX plan? Or take my chances on new plan thyroid med called EUthyrox? Anyone's experience with this issue would be appreciated. ## Has your doctor done any testing, outs...

I have been taking this for almost 2 years. I started because of a major back injury in October 2010-my twin daughters were almost a year old, and have since discovered acupuncture-which is wonderful! I want to stop taking the Norco(I was prescribed 10 mg 4 times daily and took it all up until about 4 months ago when I began cutting it down to 3 a day). At the birth date of my girls I weighed 213-I had gained only 50 pounds, after I got hurt and started taking the Norco, I slowly gained weight until I was up to 218 lbs a couple of months ago. Now I weigh 205 after having started the acupuncture and changing my diet. I feel slovenly and like I am a slave to this drug-physically speaking. I still have major pain but am just sick of taking these things. I want to get off of these pills and...

Yes I have been on oxycontin for 6 yrs to an ^ of 80 mg. 2 times a day but was just increased to 30 mg. Every 6 hrs. My dr. May send me to a pain dr. But I have been through pain management 3 times. This is of my own choice as I may be having liw back surgery and a knee replacement. Any suggestions about any withdrawals? My dr. Is an internalist, she prob. Figures she cant and she has worked with changing my med.s several times.. ## Suboxone is what many pain doctors use to get patients off of narcotics, they reduce the dosage slowly. ## Thanks for your in put but I dont know how to get them since she is a md. ## Suboxone is only intended to be used for hard core addiction treatment, not someone that has been just taking medications as prescribed. Once someone starts it, it can actually...

Hi. I'm using oralcon for 4 months now and sometimes I forget to take the active ones, so I end up changing times or skipping doses. Is it possible for me to get pregnant? ## Hello, Bunny! How are you? Yes, if you completely skip some tablets, then it is possible for you to get pregnant. They need to be taken every day to protect you from pregnancy, because they work by preventing ovulation. Changing the time isn't a big deal, you can usually take one within a few hours of when you should and still be fine, but missing them leaves you unprotected. Is there some way you could leave a reminder for yourself to take one each day, at the same time? ## I took an emergency contraceptive 3 days after my period. I want to take advantage of my ovulation to get pregnant after a recent chan...

Can these be taken together in the evening? And will it be effective for 24 hrs? I'm too sleepy during the day!! ## Hi, Margo! You really should check with your doctor, before changing to taking them at night. It's really going to depend on your blood pressure levels and heart rate, as well as the symptoms. Usually, it's preferred that they be taken in the morning, to help control your blood pressure and heart rate during the times of day that you'll be most active and therefore experiencing the most fluctuations. But if you are severely drowsy from them, they may allow you to switch to taking them at night. Another alternative is splitting up the doses, so you take part of your dose in the morning and then the rest in the evening, which could lessen the side effects. Ma...

If I have been taking Ativan 2mg 4 times per day for 8 years and it is obviously lost it's affectiveness, would changing to Xanax 2mg 4 times a day be the next step? Valium does not help at all. (Take Ativan for PTSD) I've worked in the medical field for 20 years and was not aware that Xanax came in a 2mg pill......seems like a lot!) ## No, it probably wouldn't make a difference, there is no dose conversion between the Lorazepam in the Ativan and the Alprazolam in the Xanax, they are considered equivalent to each other. There is, however, a 3mg extended release Xanax available. From other posts that have been made here, it seems that a lot of people that have grown tolerant to their current dosage have had success switching to the extended release. Some in the same dosage an...

changing to Oxycodone HCL BY DOCTOR--what amount of oxycodone hcl would be comparable to MS CONTIN 30 MG ? ## Oxycodone is one and a half times stronger than Morphine, so you would actually need a lower dose of the Oxycodone, which would be around 20mgs. The side effect profile is similar for both, since they are both narcotic analgesics and may include: nausea, dizziness, dry mouth and constipation. All who read this.. try changing your diet, eating fresh seasonal foods, Juice and smoothie often. get your heart rate up by spending 30 min a day (up to 3 times a week) doing physical activity (. walking, riding a bike, or kung-fu lol) Meditate and calm the mind, drink water, laugh, have safe intercourse, try something new... Because if you think taking drugs to ease pain is the only answer.. your dead(early)wrong. Dont spend your time on earth in a chemically induced haze. Not preaching just saying ## And just to add the specifics, Lyrica is not a narcotic, it is actually an anticonvulsant that has been shown to help with certain types of nerve pain and mood disorders. I absolutely HATE HATE HATE taking this pill in the morning and having to drink a full glass of water, and then waiting another hour before coffee or food. I understand that morning is the optimum time, but do any of you take it other times, like at bedtime? Any adverse affects? ## I have no experience with using this, but have you tried asking your doctor or pharmacist if changing the time of day that you take it will make a difference? They would be the best ones to ask about it. Everything I am reading says it should be taken a half hour to an hour, before you eat anything. Thus, I am not sure if there is a specific reason that it must be taken in the morning, there are some times when a doctor recommends this solely because they want a patient to get in the habit of taking it at the...

I was on 75 for over 9 years with still getting pain even with changing patch everyother day yeah know it's a three day patch. May of this year started with acupuncture dr three times a week. Started weaning self off the drug by delaying the changing of the patch. It is now August and happy to say since middle of July done with fentanyl. Yes still have pain but trying to just take two Tylenol or a percoset one if really can't stand it, I change positions more when sitting, walk as much as possible ## Sounds like you're doing everything right! :-) In many cases, people that suffer from chronic pain get very sedentary, not realizing that it actually makes their pain much worse, because joints stiffen and unused muscles begin to atrophy. I SEE MOST POST ON HERE ASKING FOR SOMEONE TO FILL A CERTAIN DRUG THEY NEED. WELL TIMES ARE CHANGING FOR MORE THAN 1 REASON. IT IS NEXT TO IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND ANY DOCTOR THAT WILL TAKE A NEW PATIENT AND PRESCRIBE ANY ANY ANY, CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE. THANKS TO DEA, WAR ON DRUGS IS NOW IN PAIN MANAGEMENT. ALSO INSURANCE COMPANIES AND A RECENT STUDY, THAT SHOWED A PATIENT MAY DIE IN THEIR SLEEP IF GIVEN OVER A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF TABS OF OPIATES IN A DAY. THIS IS A POOR EXAMPLE OF A STUDY. COULD BE 4 MG OR 1000 MG THAT IS WHY YOU NOW SEE ALL THE INSURANCE COMPANIES NOW PUTTING CAPS ON THE AMOUNT THEY WILL ALLOW YOU TO HAVE. THEY I GUESS ARE NOW PLAYING DOCTOR. THEY ARE MAKING IT HARDER AND MORE WORK FOR DOCS TO EVEN WANT TO PRESCRIBE CERTAIN MEDICATIONS. I HAVE BLUE CROSS AND MEDICARE AND NEVER...

I have extreme anxiety that is so bad that I cannot function. I am on a anti depression medicine but still it does not work. Dr. has me on Clonazepam 1 mg 4 to 5 times a day and they do not work either. Do you think changing to prozac and x-nax could work better? Thank you. ## Well, this site is not medical professionals, so we cannot possibly try to decide what medications would work best for you, only you and your doctor can decide that. Prozac contains the active ingredient Fluoxetine, it is an SSRI antidepressant. You did not saw which one you are currently on, so I do not know if this is the same drug class or not. However, if your current one is not helping, you may want to try something from a different drug class altogether and see if you get better results. Xanax contains the a...

I am a breastfeeding mum. My baby is 2 months old and I had my implants inserted 2 weeks ago, since then, anytime I breastfeed her, she poos immediately. I end up changing her diaper up to 6 to times daily. The poo is yellowish and sometimes greenish with a little bit of mucous. I have tried giving her Ors and zinc but it just won't stop. Should I take out the implants? As I'm really worried she has started to feel lighter. Please consider this post an emergency. ## Hi Stella, Sorry to hear about concerns with your baby. I have found a bit of information which says that there may be concern for babies 6 weeks or younger because their livers may have trouble metabolizing some of the hormones passed to them through the mother's breast milk. In your case I would take the baby t...

I have been trying to find a pharmacy in Bradenton that will fill my prescriptions for OxyContin ER 60mg one every 12 hours and Morphine Sulfate IR 15 mg three times daily for breakthrough pain. I just finished changing insurance policies, the agent along with myself noticed what the Pharmacist charged me, and what they charged them was completely different. Now realize that this is supposed to be a discount pharmacy located here In Bradenton. In addition, Mike the Pharmacist is great at all the cons but its all here in black and white. He has been turning in a different price to the insurance company and charging me a different price. So yes since March, I have overpaid him $1809.26. Scripts that were free cost me full price along with the others he doubled. Not sure, where to turn him...

HI, I have been taking Metoprolol since July . In the 7 months I have been taking it, they have changed the manufacturer three times. With such severe side effects, I don't care if it is the same pill, the filler is essential to the pill and how your body reacts to the pill. It is really frusterating to me that they keep on changing the manufacturer as they please and just saying it is the same pill. I was pretty upset the last time they changed the manufacturer because I was right in the middle of a big 3 day exam, and that was the last thing I needed. But actually what I noticed, I started to feel 100 percent better when I got on I think it is called TAB. The TAETH I was taking, I don't know what the problem was, but after about 3 months of taking it, I started to get really s...
