I have severe chronic back pain. A neurosurgeon prescribed Hydrocodone-apap 10/325mgs tablets to be taken every 8 hours. I am finding that my pain diminishes 1 to 1/2 hour after taking one tablet. Can I take 1 tablet more often, i.e., every four hours? ## Have you consulted your doctor, or the neurosurgeon? Hydrocodone with Acetaminophen, the active ingredients in Vicodin, is a narcotic opiate pain medication, so while there are times it is appropriate to take it more often, sometimes as often as every 6 hours, you should not do so, without checking with your physician. Learn more about Vicodin Details ## I agree with Verwon. Talk to your doctor. You should not increase your medication dosage without his express consent. It's no good. I have to take three at a time for 1 hour of pain relief. Anybody else have this problem with M367 - 10/325? Has anyone else noticed that meds from certain manufacturers do not work as well for them? ## Recently went to refill my norco script and they gave me M367 10/325 instead of the yellow 10/325. One of the yellow pills would last 4 hours. With the m367 I have to take 3 at a time for 1 hour of pain relief. Let me know if any of you have encountered the same with M367 10/325. Thank you ## I'm sure there are others that have had similar problems, there can be some slight fluctuations from one generic medication to another, so not all of them work well for everyone that tries them. For example, I can take this same tablet and it really hits me very hard, after tak...

My doctor has me taking norco 10 325 every 4 hours for pain. I have tramadol as well. The tramadol feels like it does absolutely nothing. Because the tramadol doesn't give me a high feeling I thought it might be better to take. Will tramadol work as well as norco and if so, at what dose? I just want to get rid of the pain!! ## It really depends on you, how much does the high feeling affect you? Because it will eventually wear off, as your body gets used to the medication. It is just a side effect. However, it is one of the reasons that some people end up abusing certain medications, they like that high feeling, so they keep taking more and more of it to get it back, whenever it wears off. And no, the Tramadol will not work as well, it's not anywhere near as effective as the othe...

Do I put patch on and continue to take my norco till the fentanyl patch gets in to my system at full strength? I take two nor ps 10-325 every 6 hrs and they wear off at 4-5 hrs so pain comes on strong. I've read that it takes 12 to 24 hours for fentanyl to reach its peak so till it kicks it will I be safe to take reg dose of norco? Do not want to go to sleep and not wake up! Scary ## It would be best to be cautious and check with your doctor, before taking the Norco with the patch, since there can be some risk of increased sedation or overdose. However, in most cases it is prescribe that way, the time released patch is meant to control most of your pain, then a regular release medication is prescribed for breakthrough pain. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic,...

I have my appointment with pain management tomorrow. I am on fentanyl patch 25 every 48 hours and norco 10/325 four times a day it isn't working and my quality of life stinks any suggestions what I could be switched to. Since it has to be done when I see him. ## I need help finding a stronger or different medicine for my pain management . Fentanyl patch 25 every 48 hours and norco 10/325 four times a day it wears off to fast and I can't enjoy my life ## I would be surprised if your pain doc. didn't put you a higher patch. The 25mg is just a starting dosage to see how you tolerate the drug. I was on a 25. every 72 hrs. plus narco's as needed, then upped 50mg every 72hrs. Now am on 75mg. every 72 hrs. plus narco's as needed and get good pain relief from that plus twice...

My doctor switched me from 1-2 tabs of norco 10/325 every 4-6 hours to 20- 40 ml of liquid 2.5mg/5ml every 4-6 hours - is it the same amount of norco? I know it has more tylenol in it but am I getting the same dosage of the norco? ## Well, first allow me to explain that Norco is a brand name for a medication that contains Acetaminophen and Hydrocodone, it is not actually the name of the narcotic ingredient you are asking about. That said, if it contains 2.5mgs of the Hydrodocone per 5ml, then 20mls would contain 10mgs, this would be equal to the amount in one of the tablets you used to take. That would also mean that if you use 40mls, you'd be taking 20mgs of Hydrocodone, or equal to 2 of the tablets that you used to take. The main differece though, between a liquid and a tablet is ...

I am getting a vivitrol shot tomorrow at 3:30. I was in pain today and broke down and ended up taking eight 10/325 norco throughout the day. I took 2 every 4 hours. Being that it is just norco and not something a whole lot stronger, will I be ok taking the shot, or will it send me into precipitated withdrawals? Thank you. ## It could still send you into precipitated withdrawals, so it may be best not get the shot, unless your doctor says otherwise. The typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, vomiting, and muscle spasms. What did you end up doing? ## Got the shot. Definitely sent me into precipitated withdrawals. I started feeling better this morning. Wanted to die for the first 24 hours.

Hi, I have been taking Norco 10/325 1 every 4-6 hours for pain and Tramadol 50 mg as needed for breakthrough pain for over 4 years for Rheumatoid Arthritis, Psoriatic Arthritis and constant pain. However, I am starting to notice that I'm having much more frequent issues with breakthrough pain and it feels the Norco is loosing it's effectiveness overall. The pain has became so unbearable at times it really is affecting my quality of life tremendously. Please advise if there is another medication I can discuss with my doctor. Maybe something long acting so I don't have take so many Pills through out the day. I am recovering from back surgery and have the generic Norco 10-325. They have not been effective in the dosage of 1 every 6 hours. My problem is at night when the dull ache keeps me from sleeping. What is the effect of taking2 at night before I go to sleep ## Hello, Batman! How are you? You shouldn't raise your dosage, without your medical provider's approval. If you aren't opiate tolerant, that may be too high of a dosage for you. Have you informed them of the problem, yet? The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

I had a tooth extraction yesterday, been taking I Norco 7.5-325 regularly since; took one pill an hour ago and the pain is still unbearable, can I take one more or even half a pill more? ## Hi Ryan, Generally with this type of drug the dosing instructions indicate that you should take 1 pill every 4-6 hours or so. I could be wrong, but I think this is mainly due to the concerns associated with Acetaminophen and liver toxicity. From my own personal experience, it should be fine to take a half a pill more, as they do make a stronger norco with 10mgs of Hydrocodone and 500mgs of Acetaminophen. So it would be as if you're taking the stronger version of the drug. Learn More: Acetaminophen + Hydrocodone I hope this helps! ## Actually, if the pain is still that bad, after having had the to...

I ran 1 1/2 day short on my oxy IR and have left over hydro from dental surgery. Is how much hydro can i take until its time for my refill ## I alternate oxycodone and loracet to manage my pain and it seems to keep my tolerance down for each drug. And as far as the dose of loracet take as prescribed because to much Tylenol is very bad on your liver. I would look at it like this use your loracet as a get me by until u can fill ur oxycodone. No more 4000mgs of Tylenol in 24 hrs. ## @Dalejrfan, Although only a doctor can legally advise you on what/how much of something you should take, the general adult dosing guidelines for Norco usually recommend 1 tablet every 4-6 hours as needed for pain. I would just encourage you to contact your local pharmacist to verify dosing instructions first. I...

i had orthoscopy on my left knee dec. 11. the doc prescribed norco for pain. however, my insurance says if there's a generic for any drug then that's what'll be substituded. they changed prescription to hydrocodone-pap 5-325 tablitp. the doctor told me to take the med. every 4 to 6 hrs. in order to control the pain better.the problem is i take the med. every 4 hours & it's not doing the job i understood i'd experience. my knee & leg hurts so much on a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the worst. it's a 9. i'm wondering if i'd be able better relife by taking (2) 500 mg. i've been up 2hrs & 20 min. thank u ## They gave you the same medication, Acetaminophen and Hydrocodone is exactly what Norco contains, this is just the generic version rather than...

I am having a second back surgery. The first time I was prescribed 10 mg Oxycodone Immediate REL Tabs every 4 hours. This time I am prescribed MS Contin 30 mg every 12 hours plus my regular medication of Norco 10-325 every 6 hours. hi i have been on these patches for 4 months now but i still have pain ## Have you consulted your doctor? Do you have any medications for breakthrough pain? Usually, for proper pain management, something long acting like the Fentanyl is used and then some that works immediately, or a regular release medication, is also given for those times the pain is too much for the long acting medication to completely control. ## I am on 25mcgs of fentynal patches every 72 hours, plus 10/325 pecocet 1 every 4-6 hours for BT pain. The Percocet doesn't do much, and is very similar to my previous prescription of Norco and the patch isn't strong enough and runs out after 48 hours. Hi, I've been taking half a 15mg oxycodone every morning around 9am. I don't like how a whole one makes me feel and I can still function with only a half. I usually take 1 whole 10/325 norco at that time but I'm out of them so I'm stuck taking the oxycodone. For the past 4 days I've been taking 1 daily 30mg adderall tablets(instant release) about 2 hours after taking the oxycodone half. I was taking 1 daily 30mg vyvanse for the past few months but I wanted to try adderall for awhile and see which seemed better to me. My issue is... can I take another adderall, but only half of it? Every time I take the adderall, a couple hours later I feel blah and just sit for awhile doing nothing, I like the adderall but I don't like the quick wear off. I'm hoping I didn...

My doctor prescribed me Oxycodone 10/325 for extreme pain. I normally take Norco 10/325 for chronic back pain. I split those in half and take half every 4 hours. I want to split these m523 oxycodone in half but there isn't a score mark like my other meds. Is it safe to split m523 pills in half? Thank you ## I don't see anything which specifically says it's an extended release tablet, so in theory it might be okay to take half at a time. But that being the case, why is there no score line? I would recommend double checking with the pharmacist as they would be able to tell you for sure. Can you please share the outcome? For reference, this tablet contains Acetaminophen 325 mg + Oxycodone 10 mg (NDC 0406-0523). Inactive Ingredients: - Crospovidone - Cellulose, Microcrystalline ...

Suppose take 1 tablet every 12 hours. Took 2 doses so far. At 5:00 pm then 5 am. Not working. Any suggestions ## Hello, Cindy! How are you? It may not be a strong enough dose to alleviate your pain. Have you informed your doctor? He may need to raise your dosage. I've been on Fentanyl 25mcg every 48 hours for 3 1/2 years and want taper off. I'm finding it hard to stretch them to 72 hours, only made it to 60 hours. Also take 4-5 Norco 10/325. I'm wondering if it's possible to trim my Mylan patches to 2/3-3/4 in size to start tapering. I'm thinking of asking my pain management Dr to reduce dose to 12.5 at next appt in 2 weeks but want to start tapering ASAP. ## Hello, John! How are you? No, it is not safe to cut the patches to try and do that. That could actually cause you to absorb too much of the narcotic, at once, which could cause an overdose, since this is a very potent narcotic. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry ...
