I have tried 5 different Blood Pressure Medications. All are giving me side effects of depression, loss of energy, trouble concentrating, joint pain, swelling, weight gain. Anyone here know of a Blood Pressure Medication with few side effects? ## Hello, Julie! How are you? I understand what you're going through. I rant the gamut of them myself, it took about a year to finally find ones that worked for me, without making me totally miserable. Thus, the ones I suggest you speak to your doctor about are Atacand and Labetalol, with the latter being known to cause the least side effects. You may still experience some, short-term, such as nausea, dizziness and headache, but they usually wear off after a few weeks, as your body gets used to the medication. Is there anything else I can help...

I was wondering if I can safely take CB1 along with prescription drugs? ## Can I take CB 1 pills even I'm taking a Blood Pressure medicine like Losartan ? ## Since it is an over the counter supplement that is not FDA approved, there have not been any studies done regarding its safety when combined with prescription medications. The main issue here is do you really need to gain weight? As in, are you underweight, right now? Since you mentioned Losartan and high blood pressure, it is very important that you know it is not safe to gain excess weight, when you have such a cardiac condition, because extra weight is very taxing on your heart and circulatory system, so it could worsen such a condition, and cause new ones to occur. The American Heart Association has some great information a...

Why would my doctor prescribe gabapentin when my blood pressure is difficult to control? It's 100/150 at times. I was complaining to my Dr that my hands are becoming difficult to control; I drop & throw things. Very miserable not being able to hold a phone, etc. ## I honestly can't say, since blood pressure elevations can be a side effect of it, as reported by the FDA. Gabapentin is an anticonvulsant that can also be used to treat certain types of nerve pain and some mood disorders. Its other typical side effects are listed as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, mood swings, and weight gain. What other medications do you take regularly? I wonder if one of them may be contributing to the issue with your hands. ## Does gabapentin cause high blood pressure? My heart...

I have been taking coverall 2mg for about 1 year now. I have blurred vision, awful leg pain, and have developed a cough with mucus running down the back of my throat. I have also gained weight for no reason. I also take pariet 20mg. Can you please give me some advice? ## Hello, Ollie! How are you? The blurred vision and leg pain might be due to the Coverall, the FDA does list those as being possible side effects, along with nausea, dizziness, headache, and increased urination. Both of these medications are listed by the NIH as possibly causing weight gain. As to the cough with mucous, that might be due to an acid issue, if you are taking the Pariet to treat acid reflux, or a similar condition, it can cause a cough with mucous and sinus drainage. What type of foods do you eat? What do yo...

I take a combination pill lisinopril/hctz for high blood pressure would it be safe to take the cb1 weight gainer with my medication ## Hello, Rick! How are you? If you have high blood pressure, it would be best to check with your doctor, before doing anything to try to gain weight. Extra weight places extra work load on the heart, which could just worsen your condition. Is there anything else I can help with?

My drug store has switched my thyroid manufacturer from Mylan to Lanne. Since taking the same dosage of 88 mcg, my blood pressure has gone up considerably and I don't normally have high blood pressure. I have some of the older ones and have taken them for the last 3 days and my bp is back to normal. Is this just a coincidence or should I talk to the drug store? I also feel jittery in the neck area. I had the radio active iodine treatment 3 years ago. I feel like my thyroid is out of wack again. I don't have an appointment with my endocrinologist for 3 more months. ## I have been taking a 125mg synthroid and have gain extremely weight! I am very concerned about lipozene is safe with my conditions, of diabetes and high blood pressure. ## Hello, Pamela! How are you? Since Lipozene is just a nutritional supplement that's claimed to help with weight loss, there is no information available on possible interactions and contraindications. Have you consulted your doctor? That would be the best thing to do, so they can help you discover a safe and healthy way to lose weight. ## I was wondering the same question? But I take it anyway just thinkin it has to do something and it does curve my appetite and make me feel fuller. I have noticed that in the past 4 months I went from 60 mg to where I'm at now 95mg and I've gained about 15lbs. I've also did a lot of research on losing weight being on methadone and it'...

Take linsopril 5mg1a day bupropion sr 150mg 2a day zonisamide 100mg 4a day birth control 1a day. Lost close to 20 lbs befor linsopril, but haven't been on it a month yet. Seem to have stalled out. Weight is VERY important issue (please don't ask why :) any thoughts? Body need to adjust? Pain/ can't workout like used to ## How long have you been taking the birth control? The reason I'm asking is because if you've been on it for awhile and just recently started the Lisinopril for blood pressure elevation, there's a chance that the contraceptives are what's causing the elevation and you may not need to take another medication. There's a chance it could be resolved by just stopping the hormonal contraceptives. Depending on how high it is, you may need a blood...

Type 1 diabetic, hypothyroidism, high blood pressure, allergies, glaucoma and constipation. What else? Taking Linzess. Dr prescribed 580 mcg! Not helping, just bloat. I am not going to take it anymore and just use Lactulose. I hope to lose the 15 lbs gained in 3 months. Glad to know that I am not alone. ## Hello, Myriad! How are you? I'm sorry that the Linzess isn't working for you. What medications do you take for the other conditions you have? There's a chance that some of them could have caused the weight gain and constipation. For example, as listed by the FDA, most medications for high blood pressure can cause weight gain.

I switched from Synthroid to Tirosint. I have gained 8 lbs, constipated, hair loss and HBP. Can anyone explain this? ## What dosage were you taking of the Synthroid, and what is your prescribed dose of the Tirosint? Weight changes, hair loss, blood pressure changes, nausea, and dizziness can all be side effects of Synthroid, and Tirosint. Have you consulted your doctor? You might be on too high of a dose, or your body may just need time to adjust to the new medication. Ref: Tirosint Information Why was the change made? What were your levels when they were last checked?

I expressed to my physician that I am experiencing weight gain with Losartan, however she doesn't believe me. I was originally taking Lisinopril but experienced tremendous hair loss. Since the past year, I have gained much of the 40 pounds back that I had previously loss. Furthermore, my blood pressure was more controlled with the ACE Inhibitor. Please help. I'm thinking about seeking help frim a homeopathic doctor. ## Weight gain can be a normal side effect of most blood pressure and cardiac medications, but that usually levels out around 10 pounds, or so. The FDA lists the other typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination and hypotension. Are you on any other medications? Do you keep your diet low in sodium and fat?

I weigh myself twice weekly, my scale tells me I have gained 4 pounds over a short period. I have been on Metformin 750 for over a year. My concern is this rapid gain. Can anyone tell me about their experience and what they found to keep weight stable. My diet includes fresh fruit , low carb vegetables, some whole grain bread, and whole wheat pasta. I noticed recently though snacking on nuts mixed in dried fruit. ## How rapidly have you gained weight? The NIH does warn that diabetes itself can cause weight changes, however there are other issues that could cause it, as well, such as high blood pressure, edema, or a heart condition. Thus, the safest thing to do would be to have this checked out by your medical provider, for your own safety. How much are you snacking? Some nuts can contai...

I have been taking Ramipril for two weeks and I am wondering if weight gain is one of the side effects. Finally, after been overweight all my life, I reached my weight goal and I am worried about getting weight back with this medication. ## MedlinePlus has some great details on this medication. Some in this class have been known to cause weight gain, but it is not common, and usually is a maximum of around 10 pounds. Other side effects may include nausea, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. However, if you are taking it to treat high blood pressure, or a cardiac condition, the risk to your health is far greater, if you don't take it, as prescribed. Are you on any other medications? Congratulations on the weight loss! ## No. It is the only medication I have to take. I am ...

Good day. I just want to ask if it is ok to take Decilone forte together with Vitamin C (cause I really want to gain weight)? Some of my friends told me about this but I'm a little bit curious to know if it's effective or if it may cause some unwanted side effects to my body? Please, I need your advice. Thank you. ## Isn't the decilone forte a corticosteroid and not vitamins? ## Decilone and Decilone Forte contain the active ingredient Dexamethasone, which is a steroid class medication, so yes, it can cause side effects, which the U.S. FDA lists as possibly including nausea, headache, acne, irritability, weight gain, fluid retention, elevated blood pressure, and elevated heart rate. It is really not safe to take it, unless your doctor has instructed you to do so, due to the ...

In November 2016 suddenly I had a mild heart attack and my BP was 150 suddenly. I am a very active person with a normal body weight. Seems no matter what I do I can't remove my weight since my heart attack. I'm taking 5 mg Lisinopril and 25mg Metoprolol. I always could take charge of my weight and now nothing works. ## Most blood pressure and cardiac medications can cause weight gain, according to FDA reports, and yes, you may not be able to lose it, while taking them. Have you consulted your doctor? You might need to try different medications. How much have you gained?

Looking to find out the best medicine to treat schizophrenia. ## Hello, Valerie! How are you? There is really no 'best medicine' so to speak. It depends on the person and what works for them. Not all medications work for everyone that tries them, which is why they are usually several options to try in any given treatment category. For example, I have high blood pressure and while the 'best' medication for many people is Metoprolol, it made me very sick and I had to stop taking it. It also didn't significantly lower my blood pressure. That said, what medications have you tried? Some people do better with an older medication, such as Risperdal, though as reported by the FDA, it can cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, somnolence and weight gain. But others ha...

And yes, it can cause weight gain, as a side effect. However, you should check with your doctor, because it can also cause fluid retention and if that is what is causing your weight gain, it could lead to other medical problems, such as congestive heart failure.
