Can you cut 7.5 mg hydrocodone in half? They are a round pill with 7161, no score mark, but they are too strong for me and make me sick to my stomach. ## 7161 doesn't show as being an imprint for Hydrocodone combination medication. Are their any other numbers on it? Also Hydrocodone doesn't come in a round tablet. ## Hello, Lynni! How are you? Is it a round, white tablet with the numbers 5161 on it? Can you please double check and post back? If so, it is manufactured by Teva Pharmaceuticals and they list it as containing 7.5mgs of Hydrocodone and 200mgs of Ibuprofen. The FDA classifies this medication as being a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. ## My apol...

Foot surgery, took one pill 5/325 rapid pulse, blurry vision small headache. Only lasted for about half hour. ## Hello, Kate! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem you had. Which medication are you asking about? There are several available in that dosage. Generally, if it isn't time released, you can cut or break it in half, but you can't do so with something that is time released, because that creates the risk of your getting too much of the active ingredients at once. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. ## M365 is on the all white oblong pill (Hydrocodone/Acetaminophen) 5-325 from my L4-L5 back surgery. I weigh 104.8lbs and have a impacted infected wisdom tooth. Would it be safe to take this dosage once a day for severe pain?? Thank you in advance :) ## Hi, Courtney! I'm sorry you're in pain. This is a pretty standard dose, but considering your size, you may want to just try half a tablet at once, especially if you aren't used to taking narcotics. The Hydrocodone in this is pretty potent. I generally run between 117 and 120, but have found that since I rarely take them, even the 5/500mg dosage of this hits me very hard and I can only handle half of a tablet at once. These are time released, so you can cut or break them, safely. Unless you already have a tolerance to narcotics, then I'd really think it best to start small and see how it affects you. You can always take t...

Can I take a half of hydrocodone acetaminophen 10/325 because I already had 4 extra strength tylenals today? ## Hello, Jessica! How are you? Yes, they can be cut in half, they are not time released. Just be careful not to exceed 3,000mgs of Acetaminophen a day, unless your doctor instructs otherwise and no more than 1,000mgs every 8 hours. The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with?

I have diabetic neuropathy and uncontrolled sugar levels. I have been on norco for about four years and now my doctor said she has cut my prescription in half and sometimes won't refill it at all because she said it is dangerous if your sugars are out of control. Is this true and why has it never been mentioned before? ## Hello, Kelly! How are you? Some of its typical side effects may mask the symptoms of low blood sugar. For example, the FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness and drowsiness… which could also be symptoms of hypoglycemia. Thus, if someone thinks their only experiencing them due to the opiate and doesn't check their blood sugar levels, they could drop low and may end up in a coma. What do you take for your diabetes? What k...

May I cut a hydrocodone M357 tablet in half? ## when i take hydrocodone it puts me to sleep and i am sleepy all the next day. is it possible to cut this pill in half and will it still make me sleepy ## The answer to your question is Yes, you can cut this pill in half to divide your dose. The main reason I know this is because M357 has a score line going through half of the pill. To my knowledge the score line is there for this specific purpose :) More details about this drug can be found in the link below: I hope this helps! ## That is correct, it is not a time released medication and you can cut it in half to lower the dosage. I had to do so myself, when a dentist prescribed it for an infection and the entire pill was too much and made me very ill. As a general rule, if the medication ...

My husband got his finger cut off yesterday and the doctor gave him 7.5 hydrocoden. And its been hour and half and he is in pain. I was wondering if advil woukd be ok to give him to help him out. The bottle says he can take two but he dont want to take 2 he took one. Thank you ## @Charlena, Sorry to hear about your husband's mishap. I can't imagine how excruciating that must've been or how it may be affecting him psychologically... Though it sounds like he's in good hands with you looking after his treatment regimen. I just wanted to add that taking ibuprofen with hydrocodone/apap is generally regarded as safe. They actually make a hydrocodone/ibuprofen drug combination by the name of Vicoprofen. And as far as my personal experience goes, I've never had any issues ta...

I have been taking Hydrocodon-APAP 10-325 2 PILLS EVERY 4 HOURS 3 to 4 times a day for 15 years. My problem is the last few prescriptions I've received have not done much to help with the pain. The last few prescriptions are Watson 853 tablets. I have taken as many as 4 to 4 & 1/2 pills within an hour & a half & it was like I was taking nothing!! I have heard that sometimes the medicine is replaced with a placebo or that the Government is cutting down the ingredient that actually give fast pain relief. Is there any truth to this or what is the problem? ## Nok that is not true, if you receive them from a licensed U.S. pharmacy, everything they dispense must meet the same FDA efficacy standards. It is warned that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and ...

I started on prednisone for extreme knee and hip pain. Can't sleep. No relief yet. Can I take hydrocodone? I took Tylenol several hours ago with no relief from that either. ## I was put on Celebrex, 200 mg, for severe hip pain and arthritis. Can't mix Advil (only Tylenol) which does nothing for me. Tried cutting a 5/300 Vicodin in half and that sure helped take the edge off. Am going to discuss further with my neuromuscularskeletal doctor. Trying to avoid an epidural shot and surgery. I have been diagnosed with spinal stenosis and scoliosis, along with arthritis. ## Thank You very much for sharing your challenge with me. It definitely helped me. I decided to break one of the 7.50 hydrocodones in half (i know naproxen is a no-np). I took half and within 10 minutes I felt NO pain....

My elderly mother has shingles and was give hydrocodone 5mg with 325 mg acetaminophen. Can i give her half a tablet every three hours instead of a full tablet every six hours to cut down on the possibility of dizziness and falling? ## You need to wait 4 hrs because of the tylenol. ## And it really should be dosed as prescribed by her doctor. Has she experienced dizziness from it? If so, you could try giving her half a tablet every 4 to 6 hours, if her doctor approves. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

I was put on Hydrocodone for 3 years due to a stroke I had. My pain is coming from the brain. The PM'S started me off with 5-325. No results on the pain. Then they increased the dose 7.5-325. Some relief but not much in order to have a quality of life. Then they increased it to 10-325 90 per month. In the wee hours of the morning I would wake up with pain, so I was cutting one in half, leaving me short of pills for the month. So they increased it to 120. I got to where I was taking too many and the PM discharged me for a breach of contract. Then I found another PM. Same thing happened, but this time instead of discharging me they put me on week to week basis - 21 pills a week. I had to visit the doctor's office once a week and then take the script to my pharmacy. Once I proved I...

I am on 5-325. 7.5-325 is more expensive. can I cut a pill in half to get the 7.5 ## Hello, Charlie! How are you? No, that's not a good idea, because you will also get more Acetaminophen that way. You should only do that, if your doctor approves. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## the hydrocodone even of 5 milligrams makes me so drowsy and dizzy and makes my hands jump and click and vibrate so badly I can't wait to get off of it Kathy

We are on vacation in Australia. My daughter cut her finger badly and received stitches at a local 24 hour clinic. No pain meds were prescribed for her. She is having tremendous pain; I have given her paracetamol according to the instructions today, but it's not enough. I have some hydrocodone acetaminophen 7.5 - 325 for knee pain I have. Any recommendation about giving her one of my pills to help her sleep tonight, or maybe even half a pill? I have emailed the clinic for directions but they will take 24+ hours to get back to me and she'd like to use one tonight. ## It's according to how old your daughter is. If she's an adult one will not hurt her for pain because that's what they prescribe me when they pulled my tooth. They are mild pain meds so 1 every 6-8 hours i...

Am having knee replacements soon, had RNY so can't take any anti-inflammatories. Have been taking 1/2 of a 5-325 for pain made by Qualitest & have a V on one side & 3604 on other. Tablets are scored so can break easily. No problem with stomach. Latest Rx are same color but say Watson on one side and 3202 on other side and, though they are scored to break in half, are really hard to break..sometimes breaking into several pieces. Also, have had ulcer and stomach really burns, especially when I break the tablet into two parts. Could it be the fillers? ## Yes, there could be a filler that's causing more stomach acid. Have you talked to your doctor about possibly taking them with an antacid? As to breaking them, it would be much easier if you got a pill cutter, they are avail...

Hello: I'm 62 yr. old man, taking Hydrochlorothiazide & Metoprolol for high blood pressure. Have moderate to severe osteoarthritis and recently had an auto accident with a bad case of whiplash. I hate taking any medication. How about people that have to take similar meds for long term pain care... can they avoid becoming addicted?... It is blank on other side. There is a score mark. Someone said hydrocodone another said oxycodone. ## Are there any markings on it, or just the score? If there are no markings, it can be ruled out as being a U.S. manufactured and approved prescription medication, because they are all required to have markings to enable their identification. However, it could be any one of a large number of over the counter products and there is also a small chance that it could be a foreign medication. Does anyone have any ideas what this tablet contains?

hydrocodone-apap 7.5 325 Is the 7.5 hydrocodone on one side of the pill and the 325 acetaminophen on the other? Can I take half a pill if I chose to or do I need to take a whole pill? ## No, that's not the way it works, both medications are equally distributed throughout the tablet. And yes, you can cut them in half, if necessary unless your doctor or pharmacist has given you some specific reason that you shouldn't do so. Learn more Vicodin details here. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
