In general blood thinners just seem dangerous to me. I had a PE six months ago and was on Xarelto for the duration of six months recommended by my doctor. She stated the treatment would be about six months. Well after going in yesterday for a follow-up my clots are gone with a little bit of scar tissue but my d-dimer test was a little low and she wants me to continue on thinners. I have taken myself off of them for two weeks now because I just did not enjoy the effects. Xarelto caused me a lot of excessive bleeding during my monthly cycle, I became dizzy, and my stomach bloated up something strange. I felt like I aged in a matter of six months losing a lot of my hair and skin just looks bad and old. Before this happened I did not look like that. I also lost most of my hair during the si...

Another day, another blood test! Father, 82, had an ICD fitted Oct '15 after 6 week check he was started on blood thinner Sintrom Dec '15. Initial dose of 14g reduced to 10g, then 9g. INR today was 5.9 & re-test was 6.3! After discussion with hospital he has now been prescribed1g/day for 14 days then another good test. How long does it usually take to settle on a dose that keeps the INR stable between 2.0 & 3.0. ## Should read Sintron. Dark U/A prompted a clinic visit last Sunday. Nurse said this was common. Strip test showed no probs. INR was 6+ then 5+ & finally 2.9 which got me thinking as to the accuracy of the testers (see other discussion). The lower INR is the first time it's been between the goal of 2 & 3 which is great & perhaps shows the decreas...

I am on blood thinners right now and I need to lose weight so I would like to know if I can take Lipozene with a blood thinner? ## Lipozene is just a supplement that is claimed, but not proven to actually work for anything. The FDA does warn that is has caused nausea, heartburn, and diarrhea in some people that take it. Given that you are on blood thinners, which means you have a medical condition requiring them, I would suggest you not take anything, without checking with your medical provider. It may just be a supplement, but some of them can affect your INR. What blood thinner are you taking? ## Can I take Lipozene while I take Eliquis, a blood thinner? ## Can I take lipozene while taking eliquis? ## Eliquis twice a day.

Previous back surgeries were not an issue until I started with blood thinners. Now I am feeling weakness where I had my surgeries. Will this weakness go away as my body gets use to blood thinners? ## Which blood thinner are you using? Some of them can cause muscle pain, and weakness as side effects, according to FDA reports, along with nausea, headache, easy bruising, and increased risk of bleeding, but it can vary depending on which one you are asking about. Ref: Medline Plus Anticoagulants Most side effects do tend to go away, once your body gets used to a medication, but that can take about 4 to 6 weeks.

Once you start taking this you will be on it until blood walls thin, then you will be begin to bleed inside, then they will make you stop taking it, and you will have a stoke or heart attack, there are many other ways to thin your blood. These blood thinner drugs are poison. They did this to my Mother and Father, and my sister as well. Please save your life and find an alternative. A natural coarse is always the best coarse of action. ## OMG THIS IS HORRIBLE POST IF TRUE.... I feel like my day and possible life is ruined from your post you better be spot on with taking the responsibility to post such a commentary. ## You didn't indicate where you got your medical degree when you posted this opinion. I have confidence in our medical system, including the prescription blood thinners t...

names of current blood thinners and side effects ## There are many different types of blood thinners (prescription and natural): "Multiple Names of Blood Thinners can often apply to the same drug. Some of the most common blood thinners are listed in the link below. Both the brand names and generic Names of Blood Thinners are included:" Also included in that link is a list of side effects associated with these blood thinners. I have began taking Cholestyramine for Oral Suspension for the severe diarrhea I have been living with following the removal of my gall bladder in June, 2018. It seems to be working, but I am con- cerned about it absorbing the blood thinning medication I have been on following 3 strokes. There have been no more strokes since beginning Plavix 6 years ago. Does anyone know the answer? I would appreciate any help given towards answering this question!

Can I take lipozene and eliquis at the same time? Does lipozene either thicken or thin blood? Or will it not interact negatively? ## Hello Maureen, From what I was able to find Lipozene is only a natural supplement containing the active ingredient glucomannan. The manufacturer claims, but has not been proven or accepted by the FDA, to aid in weight loss, balance blood sugars and relieve constipation. I was unable to find any scientific studies or documentation on interactions between Lipozene and other drugs. Assuming that you are already on Eliquis I can only strongly recommend that you discuss the safety of taking Lipozene. Only your primary care doctor will have access to your medical history and information which will allow them to make an informed decision on it's practicality ...

Following a pulmonary embolism two weeks ago, I was put on Rivaroxaban (Xarelto) 15mg twice daily for eighteen days and after that 20mg once daily. For the last week, I have had painful cystitis. Online information warns that my usual cystitis medication of Trimethoprim should not be used. Please can anyone suggest an antibiotic which is safe to use in combination with the blood thinner?

Does Toprol XL 100 mg contain blood thinners? ## Toprol contains no blood thinners. Tou might be taking too much. I had to rachet up my dose but then down a little. I went from 50 mg to 100. Being too much I split the dose to half am then other 50 @ noon (with food). Eventually went to 200's, split dose, half am then other 100 mg @ noon (with food). New source of med. & prescription (different Dr.) is back to 100's. I take 1 am, other noon, think pills are by different manufacturer, so the slow rellease part of the formmulation is off a bit and I don't now what to do now. I think they release a bit faster, so I'll start with 50 am and an hour later the other 50, then 50 more after noon, etc. Oddly I took them originally for PVCs and it helped. I was in transition of ...

My neurosurgeon told me to avoid NSAIDS or anything that will thin my blood because I am scheduled for surgery in 6 days. I am in excruciating pain because I had to stop taking Voltaren. I have a topical solution that has Ketopro 10%, cyclobenzaprine 1% and lidocaine 5%. I can't get in touch with the mail order pharmacy. Does anyone know, if any of those will cause blood thinning? Thank you! ## Yes, the Ketopro stands for Ketoprofen, which is an NSAID, so it should be avoided, before surgery, according to your doctor's instructions. The FDA lists its other typical side effects, when used topically, as possibly including headache, skin redness, irritation, and flaking. Is there anything else I can help with?

Is Tarka an anticoagulant? I am getting a knee surgery on March 20th and I am supposed not to take any anticoagulant two weeks before March 20th. Should I stop my high blood pressure medicine for those two weeks? Please advise. ## Goodness no! Please consult your doctor. Tarka contains Trandolapril and Verapamil and while they do have some effect on circulation, they are not blood thinners. In addition, if your blood pressure is out of control, they will not perform the surgery. Did you talk to your doctor?

my son just had his wisdom teeth removed. the bleeding doesn't seem to want to stop. he is on Benazepril and Digitek. Do they thin his blood? ## Linda, Both seem to be cardiac / blood pressure drugs, so it could be very possible that they would affect the amount of bleeding. Ultimately the oral surgeon should know about him being on these meds so that any additional precautions can be taken. Wishing your son a smooth recovery, Mark ## thanks Mark, as it turns out his meds do not have blood thinners. The oral surgeon finally called and he said all was fine, that he had to dig deeper to remove them. But you are so kind to wish my son well, it made me smile, thanks~ Linda ## Linda, You're very welcome :) I can sympathize because I had all 4 wisdom teeth removed about 10 yrs ago and...
