Can I take this medication for a headache ## Hello, Sam! How are you? It is a narcotic analgesic, Hydrocodone with Acetaminophen, so while it may help with headaches, it shouldn't be taken, unless your doctor has prescribed it for you. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with?

Can these be taken simultaneously? I have two separate bottles and have been advised by a friend they are the same ## Hello, Shelly! How are you? You're friend is correct, they are the same. The bitarate just designates the specific chemical salt that the medication was derived from and it was left off of the one label. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Why the mad dash for vicodin? Are so many willing to ruin their liver for a couple hrs of a buzz? ## Sometimes lortab is the only thing that works for the pain. My 13 year old yorkie mix has had a collapsing trachea since I adopted her 12 years ago. She has always been on Tussigon Bitartrate 5 mg (1/4 tablet-4x daily). The vet no longer carries Tussigon so he wrote us an Rx for the pharmacy. They gave us Hydrocodone/Homatropine 5/1.5 mg. We are to give 1/4 tablet 4x daily. I'm concerned that these may not be the same Tussigon she has been on for 12 years. We have been slowly switching her over as we have some Tussigon left. Her tracheal collapse is very bad and I'm afraid to go full Hydrocodone/Homatropine. If her trachea collapses, the closest ER vet is over an hour away. I need to know if these are the same medications? Has anyone switched from long term use of Tussigon Bitartrate to Hydrocodone/Homotropine? Any problems? Different si...

For those owners in the unenviable position of needing Tussigon for their pets chronic cough: as a veterinary specialist in canine and feline practice, let me say we vets would LOVE to be able to dispense this med to your pets since it is highly effective BUT 1) the drug is essentially now unavailable even to pharmacies at the veterinary teaching hospitals; and 2) the DEA in its "wisdom" has decided to make this drug a Schedule II drug (eg. morphine) because of perceived increase in human abuse. ## @FrustratedCareGiver, Thank you for the heads up on Tussigon's availability. It looks like those pet owners will have to resort to other forms of treatment for their pet's chronic coughing. I wonder though, what would be the next best alternative that patients will have access...

I had surgery June 2nd 2017. After surgery I could not urinate so they put in a cath. After having the cath removed I took 1 flomax on June 5th 2017 around 4-4:30 in the afternoon. Haven't had any flomax since that time. Today is june 7th 2017. I have been taking Advil for pain. 8 during a 24 hour period because they said I could not take the hydrocodone with the flomax because of side effects. UNOPENED BOTTLE OF HIDROCODONE BITARTRATE SINCE 2012, STILL OK THANK YOU ## Hello, Mario! How are you? If it is in the original factory sealed container, then yes, it is most likely still good. When stored like that they usually last about 4 years. However, if it is in a pharmacy dispensed bottle, then it would have expired one year from the date of issue, because those bottles can leave it exposed to the elements that cause degradation, such as heat, light and moisture. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. the bottle says hydrocodone bitartrate cyclobenzaprine hcl on it. 5/ 5mg. What is this? ## White capsule no markings...ibuprofen??? ## As to the original poster, since that is not a standard medication that's available in the U.S., there is a chance it was special ordered by someone's doctor and created for them by a compounding pharmacy. They frequently use unmarked capsules. The FDA warns that, if those are the ingredients it contains, it carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, and dry mouth. is acetaminophen and hydrocodone bitartrate the same as hydrocod apap 5-500 tab mallinckro or is it stronger? ## If the dosage is the same, they are the same and neither would be stronger than the other, the only difference is the manufacturer. APAP is just a medical term for Acetaminophen, which is used to enhance the effects of the narcotic Hydrocodone, these two ingredients are the active ingredients in Vicodin. Side effects may include: nausea, drowsiness, dry mouth and dizziness.
