I haven't had my daily dose of pravastatin for three days. I get my prescription tomorrow. Will I be ok? ## Hello, Kelly! How are you? Why did you miss so many doses? There shouldn't be any severe problems, but it would be best to inform your doctor, so they are aware of the issue. Sometimes, suddenly stop such a medication can cause a rebound effect that elevates your cholesterol. The FDA classifies this medication as a statin and its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache and joint/muscle aches. Are there any other questions or concerns?

I cannot swallow pills. The instructions for taking Atorvastatin says do not crush or chew. Should I continue to take it this way? ## @flatball, From what I could gather, Atorvastatin only comes in tablet form, whereas you may just have to find a way to adhere to those instructions unless your doctor suggests otherwise. Another thought is to ask your doctor if dissolving the tablets in water would be an option as well? And lastly, if none of the above is suitable for your needs, then perhaps it would be best to find another alternative to Atorvastatin that comes in different dosage forms and without restrictions as to how it can be administered. A few medication names that might be worth considering in the same drug class of statins are: Simvastatin, Rosuvastatin, and Pravastatin - howe...

Take 40mg at night, take losartan 100/25 morning. after morning BM[normal] half hour later stomach cramps and severe diarrhea lots of water. could pravastatin cause this? causing liver to dump bile? taking a water pill and adding this effect causes me to be concerned as to dehydration with 80-90 degree temps here in the South? ## Hello, Rick! How are you? Yes, it can cause those types of issues in some people that take it. These statin medications are very problematic and many people have experienced such severe joint and muscle aches that they had to stop taking them. In these high temps, it might be best to speak to your doctor about adjusting something or perhaps dropping the diuretic for now. Are there any other questions or concerns?

to reduce cholesterol level which are the best medicin with less side effect instead of above tablet 5 mg ## There is really no way to say which one would be better for any single person, because everyone can react to a medication differently. The Statin drug class all carry the risks of the same side effects and the only thing you can really do is try them and see how they affect you. Have you discussed this with your doctor? ## i need to redoce triglyciride without medication. im 40 and my TG is 250mg/dl.

i am 74 yr old male. Chlorestrol normal, but on advice of Doctor. Wouldit be OK to reduce dosage to 10 mg? ## Hello, Nestro31! How are you? If your doctor has instructed you to lower the dose, it would be best to do as they've directed. The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache and joint/muscle aches. Is there anything else I can help with? ## My husband was similar, so he weaned himself off the Statin (I forget which one it was) couldn't get any logical answer from the doc as to why not. He now takes no statins, and cholesterol is non existant.

WHAT IS THE BEST DIET AND MEDICINE WHICH CAN CLEANSE THE ARTERY BLOCKAGE ## If it is due to fatty deposits, then you need a diet that is low in fats, especially saturated fats and cholesterol. You will also want it to be higher in fiber, eating things like oatmeal and whole grains. The best medications are usually the statin drugs, though they can cause side effects, such as: nausea, drowsiness, headache and joint/muscle aches. Are there any other comments or questions?

My husband is allergic to aspirin can he take rantidine for stomach acid ## Hello, Susan! How are you and your husband? I didn't find anything listed stating that it's in any way related to or similar to Aspirin, but it's always best to double check to be certain. This medication may cause side effects, such as dizziness, headache, hot flushes and irritability. Is there anything else I can help with?

It worked!!!! It was the best. It also was sold as Buckley's Cough Medicinie. I miss it. Nothing compares to it. ## Hi pecool, Did you happen to come across any other retailers or distributors that still offer this medication? After doing some additional research, I found that Dextromethorphan is the name of the active ingredient. However, the Buckley brand itself seems to only be available in Canada. There are also notices from the FDA stating their intent to remove some unapproved allergy, cough, and cold medications from the market, that may include Dextromethorphan. You can read more about this important warning message at: nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/druginfo/meds/a682492.html For more specific details on the availability of this product, Buckley's customer service department c...

Taking 135 mg per day - got cough, cold, sneezing and sore throat. Seems I noticed ED also - I stopped the medicine - I am looking for a better alternative. ## Hello, Sam! How are you? Unfortunately, this is usually the best choice that causes the least amount of side effects. The other options are statin medications, which tend to cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache and joint/muscle aches, as listed by the FDA. How long were you taking it?

are they going to stop production of nadolol ## I haven't come across any specific details stating whether or not Nadolol or any of its brand names are going to be discontinued. Did you hear this news from your local pharmacist? I would probably recommend contacting the manufacturer directly if you are wondering whether or not they are going to continue making that drug. This type of information is usually best taken from the source itself. In the meantime though, it may be a good idea to talk to your doctor about other similar alternatives. I hope this helps!

I read that pomegranate juice is very good for atheroschlerosis. I also take Zetia and don't know if they can be taken together. I have read that Zetia does interact with Statins much like grapefruit juice. Does anytone know if it interacts with Pomegranate juice? ## I haven't been able to find any information stating that pomegranate juice interacts with any medications, but it is always best to double check, your doctor, or pharmacist may have more recent information than I am privy to, at this time. The FDA does warn that Zetia may cause side effects, such as nausea, headache, stomach pain, diarrhea, and joint/muscle aches. Are you on any other medications?

I am to take Roseday 5 mg to lower my LDL cholesterol level 119 mg/dl. My HDL is 29 mg/dl & Uric acid is 7.6 mg/dl. Is there any side effect of Roseday 5 mg ? ## We've been having trouble locating specific information on this medication. The listings just say it is a Statin drug that is used to help lower cholesterol. My best guess from the name would be that the active ingredient is probably Rosuvastatin. What country is it from? If you can post back with more information, it may help me located more details on it. And all medications carry the risk of side effects, for statin drugs, they might include: nausea, dizziness, headache and joint/muscle aches. ## My BP level is 140/96 from last one year. How effective is Zempred in the treatment of genital psoriasis? My hair, skin and nails vitamins say take 3 gel caps daily, should I take all 3 at once? Or take 1 three times a day? Thanks. ## Hi Amy, From what I understand, if it doesn't specify on the directions that you should take it in divided doses then it's probably best to just take them all at once; although in my opinion, I doubt it would hurt if you did divide your dose. The Garden of Life multivitamins I use actually say that I'm supposed to take 4 capsules daily, but then it goes into detail stating that it's best when taken 2 capsules twice daily. However, I've taken it both ways and feel that 4 capsules all at once gives me a much more noticeable boost in my energy levels than spreading it out evenly. It may all come down to personal preference in that regard. I ho...

My MD recently lowered my atenolol to 25 mg daily and losartan 25 mg daily, but added Lipitor 1 hs. due to my dizziness and lightheadness. pressure seems fine, but still feeling dizzy, can I take both all 3 at bedtime ## Why was the Lipitor added? The FDA classifies it as a statin medication that is used to lower cholesterol. It is very well known to cause side effects, such as dizziness, nausea, headache and joint/muscle aches, so it's very doubtful that it will improve anything. Generally, it is best to take the blood pressure medications, Lisinopril and Losartan in the morning, so they can help control your blood pressure during the times of day you'll be most active. The Lipitor, however, can be taken any time, unless your doctor specifies otherwise. ## sorry my question was...

looking for doctor who prescribe xanax liberally in queens ny ## Personally, I think if you suffer from anxiety/depression and need a Benzodiazepine class medication (like Xanax), usually your best bet is to see a psychiatrist, rather than a regular medical doctor. Reason being, is that they are better trained in the types of medications that handle these problems and can also help you treat the underlying cause of your anxiety or depression, as opposed to covering up the feelings and emotions with medication; unless you decide that you're ok with only treating the symptoms for as long as they persist... I'm stating this based on personal experience with severe depression for over 2 years, and covering it up can help you get by temporarily, but not indefinitely. I hope this help...

I've got 5 bottles of Phenylephrine Hydrochloride Opthalmic Solution 2.5% 15ml that expired June 2014. Can these still be used on patients for the time being? ## Hi Lezlee, Even with the best intentions in mind, I would never encourage the use of expired medication on other patients, due to liability and because the idea of that just seems very unethical despite the possibility of it still retaining efficacy; which I would think it probably has to a large extent. According to an article by Harvard Medical School, many expired meds actually remain good for 15 years beyond the listed expiration date. However because we don't have a specific list stating what these meds are, the best option in my opinion is to continue adhering to the date listed on the label to ensure patient safe...

Have any women taken lexapro throughout their pregnancy? Was your baby born with any complications and were there any complications through pregnancy due to meds? ## Hello, Linda! How are you? As listed in the information provided by the FDA, animal studies have shown evidence of embryonic toxicity, but there is no controlled data available for its use during human pregnancy. They've placed it in Category C, stating that risk cannot be ruled out and it would be best to use a medication that is known to be safe, unless this is the only option available. Typical side effects for Lexapro may include nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, mood swings and weight changes. Has anyone been on this while pregnant? ## Please don't risk it.
