I just got my prescription filled at Walmard and it used to cost $10.00 for a three month supply of 90 pills. I now get 45 pills (because I'm cutting them in half) and the prescription was $21.70 reduced from $35.02 by my insurance. How can half as many pills cost well over twice as much as before? ## Hello, Annie! How are you? Prices can change, it's basically just a matter of supply and demand. There's really no other explanation for it. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, stomach pain, increased urination and hypotension. Is there anything else I can help with?

I started on this drug about 3 months ago for mild high blood pressure and after about a month and half I noticed I was loosing a lot of my hair when I washed it and then noticed much more in my brush. Then others started noticing hair on my clothes all the time. I've read all I can find about this drug and do not find that to be one of the side effects. Has anyone else heard of this problem with this drug? ## Atenolol is not that of a problem, I had been using that for the last 13 years, so far I did not had any major side effect other than a humming sound in the ear, but Chlortalidone is not known to me yet. For 10 yrs I was using Sandoz atenolol with great results. Went to Florida and could not locate Sandoz atenolol so I filled a prescription for Mylan. Within a few days I started getting back pains and body pain. Within time, it was hard to walk and move around, and wake up depressed. Then my left arm developed pain, I could not even make a bed, etc. My thought was I was getting arthritis. If so, then yes, as long as your doctor or pharmacist haven't instructed you otherwise and it isn't a time released tablet. My sensitivity to medications often makes me cut tablets, that aren't scored for cutting, so I can take a lower dose. Is 50mg metoprolol succ er equal to 50mg of atenolol? ## Actually, no since they are the same dosage, they are not equivalent. For each 50mgs of Atenolol, you'd need 100mgs of the Metoprolol. Been taking (NEW) Diltiazem 180 mg 24 hr time release caps as well as tapering atenolol (was 100mg daily) had horrible symptoms so back on 25mg of atenolol with the diltiazem... can they be taken at the same time or should they be spaced a bit? I was diagnose with high blood pressure (BP) about ten years ago (at 40 years) and my doctor prescribe Atenolo 50 mg which I used for about three years. Then my doctor added nifedipine 20mg which I am now taking for about seven years. About two years now I feel dizzy when I stand for some time and when I check my BP I am getting low reading example, 104/65, 95/60/, 112/75. My doctor did kidney's and diabetic's blood test which he said was ok. About one year ago I was diagnose with diabetics but it is under control. My doctor spoke against the Antenolol drug but has specified Nebicard 5mg as an option. Both are beta blockers, but which one will have the least side effects? ## Atenolol is an old drug but the only bet blocker I can tolerate. I don't have edema in my feet anymore and I have more energy and less depression than with anything else. It also does the job for me just as well as any other drug. I am a T 2 DM patient for last few years. The following medicines are taken for last few months. Amryl 1 OD, Volibo 0.3 TDS, Clopitab 75 ODPC, Gabantin 100 BD, Fibator 10 OD, Losar H OD , Losar A OD and Prazopress XL 2.5 OD. I am regularly take atenelol 100mg one a day methimazole 5 mg three times a week ipramine hcl 50mg two at nite temazapan 30mg one at nite until two months ago I was also taking: Oxycodone 30mg two, four times a day Oxycontin 40mg one twice a day..
