I lost a piece of paper that said what I'm allergic to, I think it's an antibiotic that starts with an M. It it gives me a rash, my back starts to feel itchy, I had to take it for a blood infection. ## Hi igor, Antibiotics starting with "M" include: Meropenem, Mezlocillin, Meticillin, Moxifloxacin, Mafenide, and Minocycline. Do any of these names ring a bell? I'm sure there may be others out there, but this is what I could gather at the moment. I hope it helps! ## Metronidazole. Also interacts with propyline glycol, which is in liquid for e-cigarettes.

I have an abscess in my anal region. I was prescribed Clindamycin and this is my fourth day taking it 3 times a day. I had a small swallow and now it has become big and painful. I was wondering if this medicine works and if so, how long it takes because everyday the pain is going up. ## Hello, Ronaldo! How are you? I'm very sorry that you're in pain. Generally, if an antibiotic is working, you should start to see improvement after taking it for a full 3 days and no worsening after taking it for a full 24 hours, thus, you should likely return to your doctor as this might not be the right medication to help you. I'm on 75mg methadone maintenance. I accidentally took a 500mg cipro. Just one. Will I go into withdrawels ## I've never heard of cipro causing withdrawals. Cipro is an antibiotic used for a number of different infections. Have you read about cipro and methadone? I mean, read about them not interacting well together? I've never heard or read this before and I have been a nurse for 24 years. I will have to look this one up. Now, a med called naltrexone will cause withdrawals.... called precipitated withdrawals.....if taken too soon before actual Withdrawal from narcotics starts. Are you confusing these two meds, maybe? ## While cipro will not cause withdrawls it CAN cause methadone toxicity. You seem to be ok now but please do not take cipro with methadone.....there are far b...

I have been prescribed mabex for esophagus irritation. Please tell the side effects for this liquid. Thank you. ## yes ## Unfortunately, when it comes to products like this, it's difficult to provide anyone with precise information. It is a mixture of ingredients that are used to treat various types of oral sores and irritations, but the actual ingredients used can vary from area to area. This one starts with Maalox, then something numbing is usually added, such as Xylocaine or one of its relatives, sometimes an antibiotic is included, so there's really no way to say what each individual has received, since it depends on their location and what the doctors there prefer to use. Learn more Maalox details here. Are there any other questions or comments?

I am an adult woman who suffers from a bout of impetigo. If you don't know what impetigo is please look it up. I don't get it all the time. I'll get it about once every three years. But it lingers for months. And it spreads quickly. It usually starts at the corner of my nose and makes it way clockwise to my chin then back at the other corner. It's a horrible, scaly, puss filled rash. If u scratch it too bad you spread it. It's normally found in children. Maybe I carry a strain. I don't know. Anyway, I've been prescribed so many antibiotics and antibiotic ointments. None seem to work well. It seems like me leaving it alone works better for me. But this summer I got the darn rash again. It's a bit embarrassing. The girls are always trying to clean my face f...

I am taking for pain of a tooth that needs to be pulled. Also taking clindamycin for infection. When should I feel relief from pain? ## The Norco should help about 15 to 20 minutes after you take it, though it may not reduce all the pain, depending on the severity of the infection. The FDA classifies it as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Once the antibiotic starts taking effect, then the pain will greatly ease and you should start seeing improvement from it in about 3 days. Its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with?

White oblong pill with EC on one side and a weird shape on the other side almost like a backwards G, please identify. ## This is not morphine sulfate. It is simply a time-released antibiotic called Erythomicin (250mg). It is used for many infections, like pneumonia, bronchitis. Common side effects include diarrhea, stomach pain, and hives. ## And if this is an old pill it can be dangerous to take, as Erythro starts to metabolize, one of its components can cause serious liver damage, so this one should never be used past the expiration date or if you aren't certain how old it is. Most meds just lose efficacy past their expiration, so you could still use them, but may have to double up to get the effective dose, but there are a few that are dangerous, so if you aren't sure, toss ...

I started my son's antibiotic today at 10:30am. He is prescribed 1 Amoxicillin 250mg chewable tablet 3 times a day for 10 days. I was curious what are the times to give this to him today, also if I can change the time to 7:30am/3:30-45pm/8-9:30pm tomorrow? He starts back to school on monday morning and I would like to give it to him before school then after school and before bed daily for the remainder of the ten days. Would that be ok? ## Yes, unless the doctor specifically prescribed it as needing to be taken every 8 hours, then you can dose it this way, it doesn't have to be precise. The FDA lists the typical side effects of this antibiotic as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with?

I would like to know if I can take Alieve for back pain while on sulfamethoxzole tmp ds tabitp? ## I didn't find any interactions or problems listed between Aleve and Bactrim, but you should double check such information to be careful. However, such medications are often prescribed together, since many infections cause pain and it may required medicating for a few days, until the antibiotic starts working. A 90 year old woman was diagnosed with penumonia about 4 weeks ago which required hospitalization. She was placed on an antibiotics was not getting any better. Was rushed by ambulance to the hospital for choking and was placed on prednisone of 50 mg/day for a week with a plan to have the prednisone decreased by 10mg/day every week there after, until weaned.
