I have extreme wisdom tooth pain. Can a course of flucloxacillin help with this? ## It depends why you're having the pain. If it's due to an infection, then yes, the antibiotic can help. Its typical side effects, as listed by the FDA, may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. However, if they are impacted, or otherwise growing in wrong the antibiotic will not help. Have you consulted your dentist? Regardless of what the problem is, it will still have to be corrected to prevent it from recurring in the future.

I have a wisdom tooth infection, and I am scheduled to have it pulled out in two days, since my dentist say that the infection has to be healed first. But the pain is excruciating! What can I use, to ease the pain, for the time being. ## this site is not medical professionals to suggest a treatment and since you did not say what antibiotic you are taking I cannot check for interactions. Most people generally just use Acetaminophen or Ibuprofen, if it is said to be okay by your doctor or pharmacist. Have you tried calling your dentist to ask what you can use? ## When I had my wisdom teeth removed I was prescribed Vicodin. Worked really well for me. If you talk to your dentist I'm sure they will prescribe you a proper medication. Good luck and let me know how it goes!

Can cephalexin antibiotics be used to cure an infection in the gum from a wisdom tooth ## Yes, it is an antibiotic and is effective at treating many types of infections. The issue, however, is that if you have a bad tooth that's causing an infection, it can help clear up the infection, but will not fix the underlying problem. You will need to see a dentist for that. Learn more Cephalexin details here. You also need to make sure that you have enough of the antibiotic to finish a full course of it, or run the risk of developing antibiotic resistant bacteria. I have wisdom teeth that cracked and I haven't got them pulled out. Now the ones in front of my wisdom teeth cracked and got holes and hurt really bad. Can I use this antibiotic? ## Macrobid (Nitrofurantoin) is usually not the preferred antibiotic to treat dental infections. It is most commonly used to treat urinary tract infections. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, diarrhea, and stomach pain. It would be best to see a dentist, so they can prescribe the appropriate medications and correct the problems that have caused these issues. If you allow them to continue, things are just going to keep getting worse. As someone that has had to get dentures due to severe dental issues throughout my life, I can tell you that while I do lov...

I have been to the dentist got sent home with Clindamycin but I also have a sinus infection, asthma and panic attacks. Is this safe for me to take 300 mg 4times a day? However, it generally isn't recommended for people that suffer from asthma. Learn more Clindamycin details here. Thus, I'd suggest you contact your dentist or doctor about an alternative antibiotic. What do you use to treat your asthma? ## I have COPD and my dentist just put me on cindamyacin 300mg 4 times daily for 7 days for an infected wisdom tooth. He was unaware of my breathing problem. Hello, I recently went to the dentist due to tooth pain in one of my wisdom teeth. after finding out that I had a tooth infection i was prescribed 10 days worth of amoxicillin, having finished this yesterday I still have tooth pain but, a considerably less amount of pain. I'm wanting to know if this means that the tooth will have to be extracted? Also, i have two 875mg tabs of amoxicillin for an infection in September should i take this in the hopes to still get rid of the infection and or to keep myself on the antibiotic so that my infection doesn't grow resistant to it. Tomorrow is Sunday so I wont be able to contact my dentist until Monday or possibly Tuesday if he celebrates president day. ## An antibiotic only helps eradicate the bacteria that causes an infection, it does n...

what antibiotics are mainly used for wisdom teeth infections ## I'm not too fond of prescription drugs, but I think Cephalexin is one of common interest. It is an antibiotic used to treat various types of infections. To view information about this drug please click on the link below... Although I personally suggest looking into Clove Essential Oil. It's a natural remedy for dental issues as far as alleviating tooth aches (anaesthetic properties) and fighting infections (antibacterial, antimicrobial, antifungal properties). Just make sure you don't use a lot of it at once (no more than a 2-4 drops in the desired area, as it is very concentrated and may be toxic in large doses. This generally is not something to worry about as you won't need more than the minimum amount to...

I have a wisdom tooth coming in that has caused an infection around the tooth, can cefadroxil help? ## Cefadroxil is a broad spectrum, Cephalosporin class antibiotic, so it does help with various types of infections. Learn more about Cefadroxil Details here. The main questions, however, are....have you consulted a doctor or dentist, so the presence of an infection has been confirmed? The reason I'm asking is due to the fact that having a wisdom tooth coming in may cause soreness, or pain to the area, that isn't necessarily from an infection and, if that is the case, then an antibiotic shouldn't be used. However, if there really is an infection present, as confirmed by a doctor, or dentist, then you do need an antibiotic, but it also needs to be enough for a full course of tr...

I had puss leaking from the gums but the dentist did not drain it. He just extracted my bottom row wisdom tooth and gave me Amoxicillin 500 MG 4x. The tooth extraction was about $541, does that sound to high for one tooth? I used all the drug and it seemed to help but I relapsed. My inner cheeks are swollen and it seems to be slightly swollen along my jawline. I had that before taking any prescription so it's not an allergic reaction. Also around my mouth feels a little swollen. What should I do next? The second time I went to the Dentist he didn't prescribe me anything and said the swelling was okay. He never mentioned my inner cheek swelling even though you can't miss it. Should I try another dose of Amoxicillin or something else or maybe 2 antibiotics? I'm on the verg...

I have an oral infection my wisdom teeth are coming out and I got the infection on my right side me. My mom gave me Penicilina v 800,000 u. Will that work? ## Hi Justine, In my personal experience, penicillin should work just fine for tooth infections and may keep the infection under control until you see your dentist... However, I think the only permanent solution would be getting the infected teeth out so the bacteria doesn't come back. Also, my opinion is that you'd probably need to take a full course of the antibiotic (7-10 days) to determine how well it's working. Have you discussed any of this with your dentist yet? ~Best wishes ## I have Mexican penicillin a-v, bottom letters are prolate-v 8000,000 unix adds. Each capsule contains 500mg. Wisdom tooth cutting in at age 55 yrs. old at 125lbs. what dosage of Amoxicillin do I need? ## Hello, Clark! How are you? Unless you have an infection, Amoxicillin isn't an appropriate medication to take. The FDA classifies it as an antibiotic, so it is only effective at treating bacterial infections. Can sulfameth trimetoprim 800/160 be used to treat a tooth infection ? ## What has our dentist advised you to use? Have they confirmed the presence of an infection? Sulfamethoxazole with Trimethoprim is an antibiotic, but it is not usually the first choice for dental infections, since many of them respond better to other alternatives, such as Penicillin and Amoxicillin. ## No Dentist confirmation. Pretty sure of infection due to the pain & slight swelling of lower jaw near wisdom tooth.

I am taking Clindamycin for a wisdom tooth infection. It works great yet I want to forewarn any women who may decide to take it. It gave me a nasty yeast infection. I am talking about swollen lips, itchy, dry, very uncomfortable to sit for long periods of time. It seems most antibiotics help with one thing and cause other problems. Clindamycin breaks up proteins down there and it causes yeast to grow. If your doctor prescribed you this, get yourself some OTC (over the counter) yeast infection treatment when you go and get the meds from the pharmacy. ## That can be a normal side effect of most antibiotics, in both men and women, although of course for men, the yeast infections are usually only oral. If you are prone to getting them from any particular antibiotic, it is always a good idea...

I have a tooth infection and started taking clindamycin for it i have to get my teeth extracted in 6days. Will the infection be gone by then so i can have the tooth extracted? ## Hi Debbie, Sorry to hear about your tooth infection. I'm actually in the same boat as you, getting an extraction in the next month or so for an infected wisdom tooth. Most people get them taken out when they're young, but at age 25 I guess it's better late than never Lol. At any rate, most antibiotics such as Clindamycin, are often prescribed for 7-10 days, depending on the severity of the infection. But my guess is that the vast majority of the infection may be eradicated well within the parameters of that time frame, especially closer to the 7th day mark, when many patients are actually finished w...

I was prescribed aurobindo pha by my dentist to help my wisdom tooth infection. I won't be getting my wisdom tooth extracted until december, so she gave me this antibiotic to help with the infection. ## Hello, Breaun! How are you? I'm sorry, but Aurobindo is the name of a manufacturer that makes prescription medications, it is not the name of a medication itself. They make many medications. Can you please double check your prescription and post back? If you're not sure which is the name of the antibiotic, just include all the details on the label, leaving off your personal information, of course. The NIH general antibiotic page lists the most common side effects as typically including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea.
