Very large white antibiotic..I am on 875mg ## Basically, amoxicillin mixed with clav-something acid which just enhances the effect of amoxicillan, an antibiotic. Used for chest/skin/ear/throat infections.. ## Was given for severe swollen, kissing tonsils, with an absys on one, closed airway, swollen lymph nodes in neck, and accompanied by four day fever. two days on it and so far, feeling a bit better. ## The other ingredient is Clavulanic Acid, this is a generic for Augmentin. The Clavulanic Acid helps to prevent the growth of bacteria, while the Amoxicillin fights the infection that is already there. ## I have the flu or common cold....I have abottle cephalexin 500mg. The expiration date is 1/14/05. Will they be effective? ## Im on the 500mg and boy do they do some damage to you. they...

I have had the flu and severe swollen tonsils for 3 days. Someone gave me a package of Pentrexyl. Same thing happened 6 years ago and I also had to take an antibiotic. Assuming it's an infection, will this work for my tonsils? ## Hello, Andrew! How are you? I'm very sorry that you're ill. Pentrexyl is listed as containing Ampicillin, which the FDA classifies as an antibiotic that's used to treat various bacterial infections. Typical side effects are listed as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. However, it is only appropriate to take, if you have an infection. It will not help with the flu, since that is caused by a virus and taking it inappropriately creates the risk of developing antibiotic resistant bacteria. Have you c...

Hi I have white spots in my tonsils and my throat feels cut up. I know it's tonsillitis that I have and therefore was going to ring doctors to get a prescription but my mum have me a full packet of Amoxicillin. I can't see an expiry date on packet but it does say on pharmacy sticker "ChkBy 27/06/16". Do you know what this stands for please? And should they still be ok to take?? ## "Check by" that date (Chkby) 06/27/2016. Take to pharmacy. Never good to use old antibiotics and self diagnose. A quick swab of the throat gives an answer and allows you to get the right med by a doctor. Could be a virus. ## All that means if it's an old bottle of Amoxicilin that if it wasn't taken by the chk by/expiring date back this past June obviously then u cld still take i...

can i drink alcohol while i'm on my 5 day course of betamox 500mg ## Hello, Thabo! How are you? It is generally advised that you not drink alcohol while taking any prescription medication. It can cause severe worsening of the side effects, so you may experience a lot more nausea, dizziness and drowsiness than usual, as listed by the FDA. However, if your doctor okays it for you to have a couple drinks, then please make sure that you will not be driving or operating any dangerous machinery. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I have tonsils can I take betamox ## Hi. About a week and a half ago I came down with a really bad sore throat. Swollen tonsils. White pus on them. Slight, low-grade fever. No coughing. No sinus issues. Some body/joint/muscle aches. Rapid strep (for Type A) came back negative. Mono test was negative. But I was given Z-Pak antibiotic for three days. That helped. Sore throat was almost gone. Then I got hit with a different kind of sore throat. Pain felt different. Then I started getting small "white head" type pimples on my neck and shoulders. I went back to the doctor. Doctor's GUESS was that it's staph. I was in a hot tub about a week ago. So that's why she guessed staph. But no test was actually done to confirm. But rash doesn't itch. It's not painful. I wouldn't even know it was there if I cou...

I'm currently dealing with a tooth infection and unfortunately, I can't get an appointment with my dentist until Tuesday, and today is Friday. My wife has Cefdinir at home. Would that help reduce the swelling in my face? ## Hello, Witchdr! How are you feeling? I'm sorry about the dental infection. According to MedlinePlus, “Cefdinir is used to treat certain infections caused by bacteria such as bronchitis, infections of the skin, ears, sinuses, throat, and tonsils. Cefdinir is in a class of medications called cephalosporin antibiotics. It works by killing bacteria.” [1] So while it can be used to treat oral infections, it may take several days to start having an effect and it may not reduce swelling immediately. To do that, it has to start eradicating the infecti...

I got my tonsils infected and they are pretty big right now. Will this medication clear the infection? ## Hi, Gustavo! Sorry about the tonsil problems, I suffered from tonsillitis for many years, so I know how miserable it can be. As to Ampitrexyl, it listed as being a natural antibiotic product, not an actual medication, so there is no proof that it will help with an infection. The best thing to do would be to see a doctor for an examination and then they can prescribe a proper antibiotic, if needed. Are there any other questions I can help with?

What is the dosage for a 35 year old female 170lbs of pentrexyl I have white bumps on my talsels really hurts please help ## Did you mean on your tonsils? Have you consulted a doctor? There are several possibilities that there may be white, painful bumps on your tonsils. The first would be an infection and, if that is the case, then an antibiotic such as Ampicillin may help. However, it could also be due to oral thrush, which is a type of yeast infection and, if that is the case, then an antibiotic is not effective and could make it worse. Thus, you need to consult a doctor to determine what the diagnosis is and what the proper treatment would be.

How fast should amox K Clav 875/125mg take to heal an oral infection? I need to rule out tonsil cancer. If the antibiotic does not work it is more likely to be cancer. ## Or it could just be an antibiotic resistant bacteria, so you'd need to try a different stronger one to treat it, or it could be recurrent tonsillitis, which may require removal of the tonsils. I had many tonsil infections over the years and the possibility of cancer was never mentioned to me, but I did end up finally having to have them out when I was 20. Learn more Augmentin details here. As to the antibiotic, there shouldn't be any worsening after 24 hours, if it's working and then you should start to see improvement within about 3 days. What other antibiotics have you tried? Have they done throat cultures?

what can i take for tonsole infection. ## There is always the option of antibiotics; but I would recommend a natural remedy if you don't want to deal with possible side effects. You can try the options below before you look into taking antibiotics if need be. But this should be enough to get the job done in most cases if done consistently: Gargle with hot salt water at least two to three times daily. Adding honey to your gurgle water will help with inflammation. Also making a paste out of honey and turmeric powder to put on your tonsils will be of great help. If this initial treatment doesn't appear to be effective then I would suggest making an appointment with your doctor. Is there anything else I can help you with?

My daughter has just been prescribed 8ml of clindamycin palmitate 3 times a day for 7 days. She has been fighting ear infections, sinus infections and upper respiratory infections for the past 4 months. She has been on amoxicillin, Augmentin, septra and cefdinir and neither of these have worked.
