I have an infected large bump on my calf. What is the extensive list of side effects for this medication?

I feel sorry for you guys and myself too. I took this damn medication the second time the first night I start to feel weird but didn't notice anything until the morning I was feeling ok at first then I start to tremble and feel sick kind of nausea. So I drive myself to the emergency room!!! Which I shouldn't do because is dangerous. Anyway the damn emergency room have me wait for 3 hours to go in! Their I sit looking at the tv and feel like death! I keep on telling myself I'm going to make it, I'm going to make it. Hours went by they didn't call me. I told them I need immediate attention but they say sorry we are busy. I understand they are busy but the people coming in the back of me looks like they ok like sinus or something not something major like like me and I can hear them laughing and joking too. So they let them go first! So I got depress and start going in the kitchen place at the emergency room just to get a powerbar to fill my body up. The next thing I knew I rush to the bathroom and puke like hell! I started to think I'm going to die because I felt tremble all over my body looking at myself in the mirror. But somehow I remind myself that I will make it and no body will give a crap about you if you dye in this bathroom. So I went back to the emergency room 1 hour I have to wait again. So they call me in finally and have me wait in the other room for another 25 minute! Again I told myself keep being strong! So finally the damn doctor came and I told him the situation then all he just told me is the drug will go away in 48 hours!? I ask him can you give me something like so I won't feel nausea because I have to drive home? I'm feeling sick? All he say is you'll be fine!? I'm like please just give me something for nausea. Then he say something like sure I'll give you this to put under your tongue. That was the only thing helpful for them. Then I came home very sad and depressed. Plus their was so much noise in my house. So I just went to bed feeling like s**t! The only thing that help was the nausea thing that they put under my tongue. So somehow like hell I force my mind through to sleep! I can't believe I'm still alive and make through that night! This morning I felt a little bit better only but still not 100 percent myself. Everytime when I eat I feel like having a fever. Right now as I'm righting I feel better knowing that I'm not alone. I know it will subside in 2 more damn days. I know this s***ty medicine will be banned in the future. I will take legal action if neccessary. Love you all and stay safe and say no to drug and so called prescription drug that claim to be safe. Make this a learning lesson for all of us.

my husband is taking this medicine,when he first took it he started to have some chills, they last about 15,20 minutes. it id that the first time, he stop taking it for about 2,3 month and the Dr, started him on it again,is that one of the side affects?

Yes it is tell your husband to stop taking this drug. Look how many negative comment about this drug? I'm never alergic to any drug except for this drug.

on day 5 of a 7 day course for cellulitis in my navel, caused from surgery (cholecystectomy). Extreme fatigue, either sleep for 10 hours or can't get to sleep, sharp abdominal pain, no appetite, and just feel sick.
And the cellulitis is not getting worse but it's not gone, either. i'm going to tough it out for two more days because the thought of going back into surgery is more frightening. But i will never take this drug again.

oh also - i am taking acidopholus to replace the good bacteria that the antiobiotic is also killing, and a multi enzyme. no diarrhea, no headache at least. i'm starting to experience muscle aches now.

I am taking this medication for a skin infection caused by sunburn and I am itching like crazy, I only have 2.5 days left, should I still call my doctor or just finish the medication? I have no other side effects that I have noticed.

stop and called your doctor. there other better antibiotic. you been warn.

48 to 72 hours. it will be gone. but for some people is hard because they have weak immune system. so try taking vitamin c large dose capsule. email me if you have question.

I've had large swings in my blood sugar as well. i took this drug for 10 days (the entire amount prescribed). the first couple of days i couldn't get blood sugar over 80 no matter what i ate. then on day 3 it was 204. it would gradually come down to normal during the day. then wham! back to 185 while eating properly. have now been off drug for 3 days and bllod sugar was 181 today for no apparent reason. Has your blood sugar stablized? if so, how long did it take?

I took sulfameth for three weeks to treat a skin infection. First two weeks no problem but the third week I (last Sunday) I noticed I was having trouble breathing a bit. Din't think much of it. That night I was feverish and had to go pee about 20 times during the night. next day noticed a rash on my arms and my lips were sore. Still didn't relate it to the medicine so took one more dose tues then went to the Dr. He told me to stop the drug and take an anti-histamine for the rash. It's been three days now, my bottom lip blistered and I have a bad rash on my body! what a nightmare. everyday I pray that this drug will get out of my body. DO NOT TAKE Sulfameth/TMP. It is seriously dangerous.

My dog is taking 800mg 12 times a day for a bladder infection. She weighs 56 pounds so for a human I'm sure the same dose is nothing (in regards to previous posting). She is very lethargic, has lots her appetite and continues to occasionally vomit which I hope are all side effects of the medication working.

I think this stuff is prescribed wrong.The DS for Double strength is suppose to be taken 1 time a day and the non DS form is to be taken 2 times a day. I think most doctors don't realize that there are two strengths they just automatically put the DS on and prescribe it like other antibiotics 2 times a day.Which would give you 4 times as much as recommended or a very big over dose. I cut my pill in half with no better effect but by then I had been over dosed for so long I could not get better fast enough to keep taking it. By the time I stopped and would have restarted after the side effects were gone there would not have been enough left to start again. If you get prescribed this stuff make sure your doc checks out if it is DS. or the single strength when he tells you how much to take a day. ASK QUESTIONS. This medicine is one of the most recommended UTI medicines if the first dose not work. Most doctors go to the Internet site to find the most popular medicine for an ailment. That is why they leave the room for awhile and come back with your RX. My doctor use to keep a book of all the new med's in the EX. room and prescribe from it. I think the DS just gets over looked. But I will never take it again I just would never be able to trust it again at any strength after what it did to me

I don't think most doctors go to the internet to learn what drugs to prescribe and chances are they know the difference between dosages. You should never cut a pill in half or take a prescribed antibiotic outside what is prescribed. If you have questions, ask the doctor, by all means. If you think it's making you sick, stop taking it and call your doctor. But but misuse it. Antibiotic misuse is a HUGE reason why we have super strains of bacteria that are immune to our medications.

Actually doctors do go to Merck medical site for prescribing a lot of med's unless there very familiar with the drug there prescribing, according to the American medical Association it is almost impossible to keep up with all the new med's out there.Except for time release pills cutting a pill in half so you can take 1 1/2 pills a day is quiet common the next time you go to a drug store check out the pill splitters that they have for sale. and if you look on some pills they have a score line in the middle to help in cutting them in half. Unfortunately the drug company's don't make every size dose. It is cheaper for them to just make the score line in the middle. But this is getting off the subject. A bad drug is a bad drug if the side effects are worse and make you sick call the doctor and have him change it. I still wont touch it again there are a lot of others they can prescribe

I've been taking sulfameth/trimethoprim 800 for about 90-100 days now. I've been on it for acne. Does anybody know if this is too long or if there is in fact a limit that it too long? I have had headaches, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, loss of appetite, and my whole body gets hot for no reason sometimes. Any info would help, thanks.
