Refilling My Valid Xanax Prescription Early (Page 12)
UpdatedI only see one doctor and he gives me a 3 month supply of xanax. When I went the last time he wrote me out a prescription but I still had two refills. I had a friend and her husband passed away and I gave her some of mine thinking I would have no problem re-filling the prescription. I had sense enough not to go to the same pharmacy and not to give my insurance information. So I go to this small drug store by my house and I had to fill out paperwork such as dob, name and my DL #. Well they paged me to the front of the store and advised me that it was 7 days to early for them to re-fill. So my question is where can I go to re-fill a prescription that is valid written by the same doctor. I only tried one place, I'm guessing they must have a data base if you try and refill your prescription early (even without your insurance) does anyone have advice on where I can go to get this filled?
Depending on your State your Doctor could have access to the dates you filled the medicine. Nothing to worry about but try not to do it again
I have experienced this same situation and i was told they can track it .. Usually have to be at 27 days since your last refill or prescibed date..
I agree. If you share prescribed medications you can be charged with drug trafficking. Not to mention if your friend suffered an allergic reaction, overdose and died, you could also be charged with manslaughter. Do not ever give prescribed medications to anyone. As good as your intentions are there could be terrible consequences.
The state of Florida (I think most states do as well) maintains a database from all prescribes regarding their drug dispensing. Every prescriber will check that database so wherever you go you cannot hide from that database. If it is sooner than thirty days then no, sorry but you can't get your meds. I would suggest trying Sam's Club. They have a history of filling scripts two days early. Hope this helps.
Drugs like these are indeed tracked by the Texas DPS however most pharmacists do not check that list yet. While your motives for sharing your meds seem to be good you must realize that you committed a felony and as such no reputable pharmacy will aid you by filling early. That would be effectively aiding a felon.
This is not a criticism of your actions but simply a statement of the facts as they are today. Being prescribed these potent meds you have certain responsibilities, and in your case you chose to give a friend your meds rather than taking them for your own pain.
Which pharmacy refilled it 3 days early? Walgreens tells me they will fill it two days early.
I have never been in trouble and gave a friend 11 lortabs 10/500 and they gave me a trafficking charge.. because the amount of the pills with apap. was over 4 grams... I did 4 1/2 years in prison.. this was in Fla... 50,000$ fine plus 20,000$ on lawyers... don't ever give your meds out!
My husband called his dr and asked for a renewal on his xanax in my name. I had no idea, as we are going through a divorce, so the phone number he gave for pick up at the pharmacy was his. I had a prescription to pick up and when I went to the drive through the pharmacist said my other prescription was ready here. It was a prescription for 90 xanax. Had I not gone there that day I would have never known. Then I got a printout from pharmacy and on the same day he called another Dr and renewed in my name the same prescription. What can I do about this??
Terri that's crazy and sorry to hear about that! Well, your best bet right now would be to file a police report if you feel so inclined and also get in touch with your prescribing doctor and tell them what's going on Asap. The last thing you want is to get your name flagged in a database for doctor shopping or anything like that. Medically speaking your ex husband could be putting you at risk if you get flagged and are unable to get your legitimately prescribed meds. Also find out the name of the other doctor he called and notify them. You should probably consider getting a new set of contact info for the doctors to have on you (such as new phone number or something to verify your identity that the ex wouldn't be privy to). Best of luck and let us all know how it goes for you!
A- its hard to say what may happen being 2015/2016, in 2012 you could get away with filling early or paying cash at a different pharmacy. I would wait out the normal pick up date vs. possibly being flagged or pharm calling your dr.
Eddy you sure make a great point!! great advice. I got off of Xanax/alprazolam and switched to klonopin/clonazepam. I find it lasts 8-10 hours vs. Xanax my body/receptors in brain telling me to dose every 6 hjours
Omg, yes. They will cut you off and flag you at all pharmacies. They will think you are abusing your medications. These laws are set in place to protect us. My doctor told me that your bad falls back on them and they get sanctions. Example: they won't b able to give out any narcotics for a period up to two years. Etc
Wrong. Benzos are a controlled substance. Look it up
Nurse, Why dog on the dude that shared His Xannax? He DID wrong. It's unlawful & inappropriate but Xannx IS NOT a Narcotic. It's a Benzodiazepine.
How can you not know about the NATIONAL DATABASE - I don't know of a state not participating (i.e. it's required) --it is nothing to do with insurance, just reporting for dea--even my mail order uses it and my local--guess what my Dr says HE LOGS IN BEFORE WRITING ANYONE'S pain or anxiety meds!!!
Everyone is correct -a new paper script with doses changes-time, quantity is only way to get the "same med" early.
Good job btw if you use an a**hole chain like walgreens as you likely blacklisted yourself w/ them as they have a "secret checklist" as well allegedly to control drug abuse. More likely a proposal w/ dea offered by attorneys just like cvs millions of controlled substances go "missing" FROM THE WAREHOUSE. But the local pain patients dealt w/ the grief, pain, lies, & bs!
Hi. I think once the doctor changes dose. The pharmacy has to fill the script. For example if you are prescribed Xanax o.5mg for 30 days. Then, two weeks later the doctor ordered Xanax 1mg. The pharmacy has to fill it because now you have a different dose. I have had pharmacists tried to pull that on me. I let them now that the dosage /strength was change therefore, they have to fill it. Because since doasge was change the have to go by the new script. Many pharmacist will try to do that, but if you explain to them that you are fully aware of your rights. They generally back off and fill the script. Good luck :))
Just so you know, there are new regulations with doctors and patients getting their script filled for a controlled. You usually can get it fill 48 hours before. Another thing is there have been strict regulations with controlled substance. They have linked up pharmacy and doctors on a data base to track how doctors are prescribing narcotics. The same goes for the pharmacy. In other words, whether you use your insurance or not your name will be in the system. They can also track the various pharmacy that you are going to. The same goes for doctors. You will be labeled pharmacy and doctor shopping.
Yes, they do so it's not even relevent if you don't use your insurance card.. They do have a data based. The best thing to do is to submit the script and they will fill it when it's due. I am not sure but when it comes to narcotic scripts they become invalid are a while. One more thing, I think it's better to stick with one pharmacy. By doing that you will develop a customer relationship with them. Also, if you need an abstract of your meds it's better to deal with one pharmacy. Having multiple pharmacy can raised a red flag. Most pain management facility wants new patients to bring there medication abstract from their pharmacy.
Oh no. Once the medication dose was changed they should fill it. Also, you can call your insurance ,and ask them.
Hi, the pharmacist will tell you that, but what you need to say to pharmacist that there are changes in your medication. Especially, if the dosage was changed and they have to fill it. If people don't know their rights then "Oh well,"" once you make them aware that you are aware of your rights, then they will fill it. My pharmacy tried that with me and I had to shut her down. She ended filling my scriipt.
