Pain Methadone Dr Pittsburgh Pa (Top voted first)

Updated

Looking for a pain management doctor in the pittsburgh area. I m a combat veteran that has been in multiple IED explosions that messed up my back and neck and gives me constant headaches. Unfortunately the VA refuses to help me because I told them I had a problem with the vicodin and perks they gave me after two surgeries a few years ago, I took too many b/c they werent helping, but now i'm marked as an addict. I have been on 20-25mg methadone pills for two years now and it has done wonders for me, no need for anything else and can work while on it. Unfortunately hat source is gone now and I am in trouble, I would goto the clinic at VA if I had transportation every morning but that's impossible for me. Anyone that could help, with info or whatever please let me know. {edited for privacy}

Try Dr. Heres ( Harris ) at UPMC Shadyside. He's a good guy and I know he will listen to you. The VA is worthless, my sons USMC both at 80% disability and the VA in Pittsburgh is only making my son worse by giving him meds that don't work. The new anti Pain Killer policy is motivated out if fear and its causing more problems for wounded Vets - no pain relief. The latest excuse is - you're too young / or you will only need a higher dose in 6 months. This is all bull crap at a time when any person can walk into a pharmacy and get hypo needles to use intravenously. The VA is a political machine run by liberals and big money and they don't give a dam about our Vets. Good luck and thanks for serving.

Hello NanoG! How are you?

If they've listed an addiction issue in your medical records, then it's going to be difficult to find a doctor to prescribe such a medication for you.

This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

Do you currently have a regular PCP that might be able to refer you to someone?

Can anyone recommend a good doctor in that area?

Im sure you are aware that they have veteran transportation. Stay on the methadone.
