(Newest replies first)

Updated

I take 56mg of methadone every two days was wondering if I wait the 72 hours will 3 8mg suboxone pills help me so I can get rid of the methadone but not be depended on subs? I am a 36yr old single mother and full time student, I was sober for 4 1/2 years but had an unfortunate relapse this is why I started at methadone clinic.. Want to be normal not depended on anything again. Starting my new semester in a month so figure if I do this now I should feel like myself by then. So will the 3 tabs be enough?

No Way. I’ve been on Suboxone one year and it’s been hell. I was on methadone for 30 years without any problem at all.

Hi. I have been on oxy and hydro for 8 years. MY body became depends on it so I decided to be on Suboxone. I looked up COWS and said score 5_6 years s milde withdrowl. 7_11 moderet w/d so its not how many hours u have to wait till start Sebuxone. It depends on each person body. Afterb8hrs of low dose of hydro I started kinda bad w/d so I tooke 8mg film of Suboxone. I felt good at first day .the next day I did the same. Its my 4th day so I tapered down ti 6mg bcz all what I want is to pass the first week of bad withdrowl of opiates. And planing on short time use like 3 weeks by tapering my Q is since my 2bd day till today I have been experiencing sone hot and cold flashes like flu symptons but not horrible and fatigue. Is it normal to feel thus way? I was goung ti a 6 days rehab center but they are rude so I decided to dobit on my own at home .my dr gave my Suboxone but doesn't know how to use it lol. Any info plz

1st, I apologize for bad spelling, as I'm on my phone.

Probably you will be okay. I went on subs at 70mg but what I did was jump off to dilaudid for 2 weeks but I tell you, it wasn't long enough. No matter what, subs are harder for methadone people to adjust to, or just is. After 8 months, I decided the negative side effects weren't worth it so I went back, but to each their own.

The only positive I see on subs is they are far easier to get. I was blessed with a pain management Dr who is compassionate and I'll be dropping to 45 or 40mg on my own. My 1st Dr who was a quack had me at 90 plus 30 8mg dilaudid which I cut out completely. I never cared for dilaudid. However, they are amazing for 3hrs of the best pain relief ever. It's just amazing for pain but it's so short acting which is why I took it b4 subs.

C.O.W.S. Sheet is your best friend. Google it. It will tell you if you are far enough gone to take suboxone but I'm certain at 72 hrs you'll feel like cropping yourself and at that point, you are way beyond and should be alright.

Just don't expect subs to be a miracle drug. While you're adjusting, you'll feel really sick like a bad flu but not nearly as bad as wds or especially paws.

JUST KNOW SUBS ARE NOT THE MIRACLE IT'S MADE OUT TO BE.

You do not want to take suboxin while u still have methadone in your system..or your going to throw yourself into precipitated withdraw.. Witch is 10, times worse then plan withdraw .you need to wait at least a week or so before u take any suboxin..if not ur going to be n bad shape man.

Ill tell you what i at times i just couldn't take the bupe feeling anymore and only thing strong enough to push it out was methadone. So I was on 40mg when I did the switch. I took dilaudid instead for a bit just to guarantee no precipitated wds.

So what I did and I don't recommend this to anyone without extensive knowledge on methadone and how your body reacts to it but when i was on 8 mg 3 x a day and after figuring i could just do 1 8mg pill a day, when i couldn't take it any more i took a whopping 90 or 100mgs of done and it really does feel like you can feel the poison that is subs being pushed out through the blood stream. Its so very very odd. It feels great to get that poison feeling out but not everyone feels sick from subs and is say the majority of people can take it.

To great relief both for pain and addiction but I can't help that it feels odd how much they ram this down the publics throat as a miracle drug when most insurance don't take (it heard soon they'll be forced cause addicts can't afford what 90 3xday costs).

I'll tell you this though, if you can tolerate subs, don't take it any longer than 2 weeks maybe 3. You don't want to be just as physically and mentally addicted.

A fast ween will only make you feel like you have a mild flu. If you stick/stay on subs, expect just as much trouble as methadone at 5 x cost.

It seems no less addictive both mentally and physically to methadone. (To give an idea, 90mg a day for 30 days was around 40 to 60 bux, these Rx discount cards make it different prices each month)

You need to be in full withdraw from the methadone befor u even try to take a suboxin..basically u need to wait about 3days after ur last dose of methadone befor u take a sub..if u dont ur gonna be in for one hell of a withdraw..big time

take the smallest amount 1st, then wait 1 hour if you need more take a little more, continue until withdrawal subsides. Key is to start on lowest amount possible. So, after 3-4 days and you feel bad take 1/4 wait an hour take another 1/4. Try to start at 2mg or less. It is also to split the doses the first couple days, dose in AM and early PM

Hi Help please! How long have you been on the methadone? You may not need to take all 3 of the suboxone at once. First, before starting the suboxone you need to be in withdrawals. That's the main thing. Then, I would start with a half of an 8. If you are still feeling withdrawals take the other half. But, it may take you awhile on the suboxone before you can be drug free. Are you under doctors care or doing this yourself? Usually people get on suboxone for awhile, at a stable dose, then start to taper down slowly. This is not something that can be done in a few days. Or you may have bad withdrawals. I use to be on methadone and switched to suboxone. Please, let us know how you are doing.
