Mallinckrodt Hydrocodone 7.5/325
(Newest replies first)

Updated

I have been taking Qualitest brand 7.5 325 for cervical stenosis overall back problems and assorted other problems. Here is the thing I am take 1/2 of the 7.5 325, 4 times a day does not take all pain away but helps somewhat, well, CVS just changed to mallinckrodt 7.5 325 and they are not scored. The pharmacist said use a pill splitter, the thing there us, everything I have read on non scored pills regardless of what they are should not be split because you do not know where the medicine is, that is why they score them. Is the mallinckrodt medicine right in the middle as the pharmacist said or is she blowing smoke?

I agree with you--I prefer Mallinckodt Norco Hydrocodone 7.5/325

I have noticed a common denominator.

For every person who states: I prefer ______ and ______ is not working...

You will find, someone else, who states the --exact opposite--

Hello, Yvonne! How are you?

Your pharmacist is correct. The medication is evenly dispersed through the tablets, so you can cut them. The only ones you can't cut are those that are time released or otherwise specify that you should not do so. Otherwise, you can, it's the way the FDA requires them to be manufacturer, since it can sometimes be cheaper for someone to buy a higher dose and then cut or break the tablets, if they are uninsured or in a coverage gap.

This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

Is there anything else I can help with?
